Does anyone happen to know how much it costs to park a car at the Disney Cruise Line port???

Or alternatively, do you know if there is a Dollar rental place near by, so that we could drop off a car, get a shuttle to and from the port and then recollect another car, in order to save on rental costs????

Hi
I believe it is $10 per day.

$12/day

Last time we looked into it Dollar did not have a place there. There is a website that gives you all the options and reviews on best rental companies to use for Port Canaveral but its in my faves at home.
Some charge one way rental surcharge some don't.
If it was possible with Dollar then sort it in UK before leaving, paying for a rental locally after your cruise would not be worth it.
With all 4 cruises we have done we just parked up at PC. its the easiest way.
Keep looking at a 4 night cruise for August but prices are crazy, more than we paid for 7 nights last time.

Thanks for that - sounds like keeping the car and using port carpark is the way to go then - at least it keeps it simple as well!!

If you stay at the Raddison you can leave your car there for free & get the complimentary shuttle to & from the port ;)

We are going to go with the suggestion of parking the car at the port. We are only on the 3 night cruise so $12 a night is fairly good as you can pay that for vallet parking at some of the hotels.

Just wanted to check is the parking secure? We wanted to keep our luggage in there. Nothing too valuable just clothes.

We used our DVC points for the cruise so I have no idea how much it would have cost using money. anyone know what price the 3 night wonder cruise is in August?

We are doing one next August and it's costing $2,400 for a Cat 6 2 adults and 2 children.

Depends on the dates in August, prices can vary a lot from one cruise to the next, later in August gets cheaper as kids go back to school in US mid August.
Just looked at a 3 night cat 10, 2 ad+ 4yo+1 infant. $2,300.
We only paid $2,200 for 7 nights in Oct, so August is expensive.
We always leave luggage in trunk, never heard of problems there.
Which date are you sailing? I am looking for 4 night if they have any offers on like they did at Easter.

I think the Radisson sounds a good choice - just one question, do they take you to the port when you want to go or are there set times??

Its just we would want to get there early before most people arrive!!

Hi there,

Just a word of warning, if you are intending leaving stuff in your car while cruising then please remember to take all foodstuffs out of the car. This was a tip i got from an American Disser years ago because she left sweets in the car and returned to find the car full of ants!:scared1: Yuk!

Better safe than sorry folks!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the tip on the food as you always tend to leave candy or cookies lying around.

We are going on the 23rd August cruise and we are category 5, two adults and a child. It sounds really expensive so glad we had our DVC points to use.
I had no idea that it would have cost so much money.

Thanks for all the tips and help. Starting to get really excited now.

Price $2,161.43* is the price if you book today, it would have been cheper last year when the released the dates 3 months out is probably the peak price.
I don't understand DVC points, is it possible to work out how much its actually cost you in cash to do the cruise? Is it a good way of paying for a cruise? Is this your first cruise?

Let them know you want the first shuttle when you check in. We were in the first 20 onto the ship:thumbsup2

It is our first cruise and we would never have gone on the cruise if we had to pay for it cash. It is probably not a good use of points as we can rent our points out for $10 a point.

We have 520 points a year and this year we used them up plus borrowed 38 from next year for our two weeks at Saratoga Springs in a one bedroom villa plus the cruise.

However we have used the points previously for an exchange in Devon!!! and a stay at the New York hotel in Disneyland Paris both of which were not good use of points but the cost of travelling was much cheaper than a flight to Orlando during the school holidays.

Last year we took two other families with us and stayed at Saratoga Springs and beach club villas in a two bed and a studio. These are much better use of points as to stay at these as the rack rates are quite expensive. DVC points are definately best used for DVC accommodation.

I believe other DVC members let out their points and then pay cash for cruises and other vacations.

Thanks Susan
We prefer to stay off site but was wondering if it was worth buying to pay for a cruise every year but maybe not.
We are strange we prefer staying and eating offsite but love Disney cruiseing. Although the dining onboard can be a bit OTT for us, would perfer it if the buffet was better on the ship instead of the main dining.
Did Royal Caribbean last August, only ate at buffet it was so good.

we just parked at the port too for our cruise too
DH dropped us off with the bags then he parked
very easy just remeber person who is parking that you will need to keep your ID on you
have a great cruise

Juding by where you have stayed previously I think you would really like to stay at Saratoga Springs Resort as only a couple of minutes walk to downtown disney and not far from crossroads. if you want to rent out points next year give us a pm as we are unlikely to go back to wdw for the next two years.

Thanks again for all your advice on the cruise.

Just thought I'd add we are renting a car from Budget (we got a good deal from Usrentacar).....we pick up from MCO, do a week or so in Orlando then drop off at the Budget depot at the port. Then we pick up the car again on our return.

However, this is largely because we are doing a 7 night cruise , rather than a 3 or 4 night one, so it is more cost effective, and particularly because we are organising car hire separately, rather than part of a package.

We left our car in the DCL (secure) carpark during our 4 night cruise -nothing could be easier, and you can pay be cc if you wish.

:goodvibes
