Disney Cruise Line DVC freebies--pics added 8/19

I was interested that the print was labeled as the only one they have of Walt on a cruise ship - or maybe that is the only one they have hanging on a Disney ship? I had seen a picture of Walt & his family hanging in a gallery on the Queen Mary 2, and I finally found it one of my books - here is Walt and his family on the original Queen Elizabeth (long since gone), in the ballroom. It had been used as a troop ship during WWII, and also as a TA liner. Walt & his family even had their own reserved table on board. Walt & his family were avid Cunarders, often sailing the original QE; I love that the Disney ships followed the tradition and have a nice "classic liner" appearance, inside and out.
Sorry I didn't reply to your first post about this--thanks for putting your pic on here! The print just says 'Walt and Lilly Disney enjoying the sea air during one of their fun family cruises.' It was the DVC person that handed it to us that said it was the only one 'they' had, or maybe the only one that also includes an early Mickey mouse on it, or the only one on deck? I'm sorry that I can't really remember what the DVC guy said..

We also loved the classic liner appearance!

The dvc thing is held on all sailings as far as I know. I've been to four and they have never had a character present. They are generally sales presentations. If someone in your family is weak, don't let them go unless you really want to add on direct.
I believe they had Belle at ours for a meet and greet for maybe 15 minutes before the member celebration started? (She was there when we got there 10 minutes early.) Our kids went up to her and DH took their pic. When they actually started the event, Belle left.

We enjoyed it...it reminded me of the old Welcome Home Wednesdays, but with free alcohol--champagne/mimosas. :-)

Both our contracts were resale, so the sales presentations in the last 1/2 hour do nothing for us--the point cost is so high now!

We got all this on our med cruise last week plus temp tattoos for pirate night,,
We also had the "voice of the monorail" as our DVC guy weird
How funny that you had the same guy! I can't remember much about the woman, other than she had blonde hair.

DVC is getting very cheap on the gifts lately. Attending the meeting usually got you something special - besides a hat - like a portfolio, string bag, passport holder... Stopping at the desk every day got you something special - pins, pictures, clips, sand cup holders, etc.

We bought direct at Bay Lake before it opened, and WE feel that the point cost is so high now. :)

Hello,
We are leaving for our cruise this Saturday. Booked with cash. We also got a phone call about the member meet up and I missed it so had a voicemail. I tried to cal back but couldn't get to the same lady. Question.... We bought resale after April 4 this year so I thought we weren't entitled to any member extras, but I got the phone call so...... Do they not consider this meet or the small gifts on the ship as member extras?

I have no idea, but if you got a call--you're on their DVC list. I'd say you can certainly go to the meet and stop by the DVC desk to see if they'll give you the small gifts, etc. I think part of it is that on the ship it's a captive audience, if they give you DVC stuff and you wear it (like the member lanyards), people will ask you about DVC, getting them more business with new sales--'free' advertising in a way. I talked to at least 2 families on my cruise because they noticed my lanyard and wanted to know more about DVC. DVC is also holding 'previews' for non-owners during the week as well, and I'm sure they get 'something' for spending time there.

You are members and you can go. They are trying to sell you MORE, so of course they want you there.
