Disney Cruise Line Disney Fantasy Announcement! The Aqua Lab and New Adult Water Area

Today I have more brand-new Disney Fantasy features to tell you about that are simply splashtacular!
AquaLab, a new addition to deck 12, is a fanciful wet play area filled with pop jets, geysers and bubblers – designed to drench the entire family.

As the story goes, AquaLab was created by Donald Duck’s nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie. But now they’re away – leaving young cruise guests to operate AquaLab and keep AquaDuck running! By turning wheels and moving levers at three wacky aqua stations, guests “control” the speed and temperature of AquaDuck. At a leaky wall, kids cover holes in squirting and spurting pipes with their hands. In another area, water leaks and sprays from the Ducky Dinghy, suspended overhead.
Also new to deck 12 is another area for families to cool off – a wading pool with a fountain. This area has ample seating and lounge chairs under a canopy, offering a respite in the shade.

And, there’s even a brand-new water feature exclusively for adults. Satellite Falls, a circular splash pool with benches and a gently falling rain curtain, provides cool comfort on deck 13 forward.

Which of these new refreshing water features are you most excited about aboard the Disney Fantasy?

Do you guys think this is really going to help with the many complaints about how small and over crowded the pools are?

So this looks like it will officially make that space on the top front of the ship adult only.

Does anyone else think that from the bottom picture they are extending out the concierge section? I don't remember it coming out that far on other pictures or on the ship itself.

Absolutely! Swimming is pretty much out of the question on DCL ships...too crowded and small...pools are pretty much for wading and cooling off. So, having more places to get wet will definitely help. I know for sure my girls will love the new splash area....they were jealous of Nemo's Reef. They wanted to play in there so bad, but it's only for little ones. So, now they'll have a way to get wet without having to go in the pool. I'm even more excited for June 2012 now!:thumbsup2

Absolutely! I think it is great to entice adults to the upper deck and to allow the diversion of a water play area for kids. Of course it won't accommodate 4000 at one time - what resort does? Many is the time your kids have wanted to use the toddler water jet area and were prevented because of their age. Now they can play and do what they love and not just tread water in a swimming pool. I for one love the concepts and think a lot of effort has gone into addressing multiple use of the space available.

ITA :thumbsup2 I think this is definately a step in the right direction. I think the new adult area is also a very nice addition.

and don't forget - there is the new wading pool too. I think that all of these things sure spreads out appropriate and well thought out activity areas for kids of ALL ages which hopefully will alleviate some congestion in the larger pools. The wading pool will be great for the younger set and the older ones will be able to have more room in the larger pools.

I think this looks pretty awesome! I'm glad they're utilizing more space instead of empty deck space. Plus Nemo's did get pretty crowded when we took DD so this looks more open.

Does anyone know where on deck 12 the new family pool will be? Does this mean the adult area is only on deck 13? help! :)

I think these are some great improvements to the Fantasy!

What larger pool. the donald pool is tiny. If there are 10 people in there it is crowded. While I like the new splash areas you cannot swim anywhere or even hang out floating in any of the pools on the new ships

A step in the right direction but I don't think it completely solves the problem for teens or even adults that like to do a morning swim like you now can on the Wonder and Magic

I don't belive it is a new family pool. The one on deck 12 says it is a wading pool which is probably just about 2feet deep. Great for little ones but not for teens or pre-teens

These additions look great! Anyone have any idea when we'll see an updated deck plan for 12 and 13 to get a better idea of the locations and new spaces?
:cool1:

If I am correct:

First Image: Aqua Lab
- More Aft then Exit of Aqua Duck.

Second Image: Family Wady area
- More Forward than Aft Funnel

Their Image: Adult Wady area
- More Forward than Concierge Sundeck

maria-fan-22, I think you're right on. Looking at the deck plan I have, I'll bet the new Aqua Lab will eliminate the Wave Bar. It is behind the funnel where the entrance to Aqua Duck is. If you go to the Disney web site, you'll see that Wave Bar is only noted as being on the Dream. The only place that has enough room for the new wading pool is right in front of the forward funnel, right above the Cove Cafe and adult pool. Being that is for all age groups, this may actualy relieve some of the elevator traffic some have complained about going through the adult pool area. But the again, it may also cause some congestion on deck 12 as well. Just a thought, I haven't been there on the Dream. I will be on the Fantasy in May to find out though, really looking forward to it. As far as the new adult area on deck 13, I wonder how much of this will be partitioned off as adults only. There is areas on both sides of the concierge deck not pictured in this new release. Thoughts?

People complain about how small the pool is and after many cruises on 3 lines RCI and Carnival and Disney too. The pools are small. The pool on Magic are very big compared to others. The pools are ment to cool off and not swim. We come several days ahead and enjoy the pool at Disney World.

I just posted this on the Fantasy Pool update thread and want to post it here as well....

I am not complaining but making an observation.....by putting the family wading pool on Deck 12 they are completely eliminating a big seating area (that was always full mid-day on our 3 Dream cruises). Adult pool is right below in the pic.

Here is a pic of the area in the morning...no people yet, but later in the day it was crowded....the new wading pool will eliminate most of this seating. Also...since this area is right above the adult pool it was primarily used by adults...sort of a continuation of the adult pool area since there is hardly any seating by the adult pool. We enjoyed sitting in that first row and when we wanted we just went down the stairs to the adult pool. This area will now be open to families. I have nothing against kids (have a few of my own) but I imagine the area above the adult pool (and the adult pool area itself) might not be as tranquil as it used to be. Time will tell and I am glad they listening to feedback.

Or is the Deck 12 pool not going in where I think it is?????

And they are eliminating this comfy cushion area on Deck 13 (around the radar thing) forward with the new adult only splash pool....which was occupied sometimes and I think I do prefer this splash pool in this area.

Wondering if a better solution would have been to make the new pool area on Deck 12 for adults and make the new pool area on Deck 13 for families.

It also looks like (from the blog photo) that the concierge seating area wall that faces this new adult splash pool may be clear, not opaque as it is now..???
