Disney Cruise Line App -- Reliable?

The only thing I don't like about the app is that there is no sound or vibration if you get a text. I had to continuously check the app for texts from my two children.

One feature I did like was that you could mark an activity as a favorite (don't remember the exact name) and it would alert you a little while before it started. Again, no sound or vibration for the alert.

Yes we were 2 adults texting each other emojis all day....

I would love to have the emojis as a disney keyboard. My wife and I sent them lots too.

The screen shot looks waaaay more sophisticated than what the text feature was when we went in March 2015. Even with some of the issues, though, hopefully the progress means they're on the right track and we'll continue to see improvements in the text feature. Hopefully.

The app worked terribly on the Magic last year in terms of texting, but this Feb on the Fantasy we noticed it has vastly improved. The only thing as some people had mentioned is that you may have to close out of the app and reopen it to "refresh" some of your messages. We only did this if we haven't been on the app for a few hours and/or were expecting a message and hadn't received it yet. I did it about 2-3x a day and we texted quite a bit. I wish it was a bit more reliable but it's a small price to pay for the ability to keep in contact with people in your party. I didn't like carrying the wave phone because they were just too clunky and I didn't always carry a bag with me.

Got off the Magic on Thursday and the app worked wonderfully. The texting feature was all we used to communicate (didn't even pick up the wave phone) and it was fine (except when we forgot to look at our phone lol). Love it for looking at the things going on instead of having to tote around the paper navigator. We did not have any luck with it working on Castaway Cay though. I assumed it only worked on the ship.

Ours came across like texts do on our iphone. So if our phone was locked it was on the front screen like notifications generally are. I think we did have to check yes to allow notifications for this part to work.

We just got off the Dream and the app worked great! My son and I used it all the time to text each other.
