I had the same thing happen Jen!

My DH stepped on the back of my dress while we were squished in with a lot of people and POP! The whole bustle came undone. This later lead to me getting a drink spilled on it. LOL! I have the worst luck.

Yup, Dh stepped on it too.....tore the lace in the back. I honestly think the dress is beyond repair now....not that i really had any other use for it, but now i can't even sell it or anything. And you have to finish up that TR because i want to hear about this red drink on your dress and how you managed not to kill someone over it!!!

Actually we never got a chance to get it bustled at all!! My mom tried to do it right before we went into Palo and she, BFF, and my Sister were all searching around and feeling up my butt in the hallway and no one could find the damn bustle button! and my mom went with me to the fitting specifically so she could find it. She said the button must have fallen off somewhere. I figured no big deal, it's not like the train was huge anyway....until Dh stepped on it! I thought I was gonna be naked in Palo for a minute there!

Klassy??!!! hahahaa

Yup....Klassy!
:rolleyes1

Hey all you DCL brides!!! Question for you, does the DCL package come with a reception at Palo? If it doesn't come with it, how much does it cost to add it? And for either option, what do you get, alot of dancing time?? I want to dance dance dance!!! But I'd like to know all I can before really inviting all my family so they can know if there is more than just the ceremony.

PS- Here is a little about us. We are planning our 10 yr VR ceremony for DCL on CC in May,2011. We met 11 years ago this month, when he worked in a restaurant, and my friends and I were his loud obnoxious customers that they always stuck in his section. LOL We've been married for 8.5 years, and have no kids. Disney is a huge part of our lives, we are AP at DL, and go to WDW once to twice a year. Even though I'm the bigger Disney lover, my DH is a great guy who goes because of how happy it makes me. When I brought up a VR on disney I thought he'd laugh, instead he said, well since Disney has been such a big part of our first 10 years together, seems only fitting to me. Awww made my heart melt. :lovestruc

So any details you guys have on what happens after the ceremony would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!! :flower3:

Hey girl! We had plenty of time in Palo. basically if you have the Castaway Cay Ceremony you get the reception in Palo. They say it's an hour, but I know we were a bit longer. We had a 1st dance, then a Father Daughter Dance then a mother Son Dance, then a dance with anyone who wanted to join in. We had two toasts and cake and still had time to take pictures and Mingle.

We wanted our Guests to enjoy Castaway Cay and they all did. We had atleast five hours on the beach after the wedding. We all met for lunch then we swam and it was great. We didn't have our dinner in Palo any of the nights because we wanted to be with our guests. Instead we went with the brunch (only offered on the 4 night or the 7 night).

I think being in Palo was soo special. When we went back for our anniversary it was so neat to walk right where we had our first dance. They provided a piano (keyboard) player at the reception and he played some music in addition to the cd I made. The CD had our first dance song and the first dance songs of all the married couples there. That was a big surprise for our guests and they all enjoyed hearing thier song. We also had another CD with the father daughter song and mother son song and the song we used to cut the cake!

When you have the Palo reception I think you get more time. Also you can not rent Palo or anything. BUT if you can't get that private room, like if the numbers don't match up they will work with you to get your whole party together, On our anniversary cruise the bride from that sailing was there with about 10 people all set up right where we had our dance in the middle.

I have a video of my Ceremony up on my TR, not sure if I posted it here.

Love all of your beautiful pictures and love stories... I saw the pricing for weddings and vow renewals on the first page of this thread from 2008 but I haven't seen a current list of pricing for 2010. How much did it cost? Would love to do a VR on our 2011 cruise...

I went everywhere in my dress..clubs, bars, Palo..we even walked around the atrium and had our pictures taken with the backdrops

Good idea, with all the backdrops! I do love that disneys backdrops are fairly nice, the ones on other cruiselines are just down right TACKY!! Anyone go and have pics taken with characters in them? I think that would be pretty fun too!!

I wore my dress to the Pirates in the Caribbean Deck party. Not the best idea as the button for the bustle broke and we couldn't bustle it....so i hiked it up over my arm to dance with....I'm sure i looked real Klassy! :lmao:

Sounds like something I'd do... Hike my dress up and dance the night away! LOL, hey we gotta make it work to dance right??

After spending all day on my day off on the disboards, it was QUITE hard to work today, I kept thinking, oh man I could be learning so much on the disboards...instead, I stand here bored out of my MIND! ( I work in retail, and January is like torture month...SOOOO slow! ) Alas, I am home now, reading my disboards!

:)I did watch your ceremony! It was gorgeous!!! Ohhh I just don't know what to do.... CC would be on our EXACT 10 yr anniversary! But I do like $1000 less too, I mean after all, I'm going to be spending over that on the pictures at MK... ohhhh goodness, I hate decisions!

I know your frustrations and indecision about deciding whether to do CC or onboard. That $1k did help a lot, and i took it towards my Epcot shoot. In the long run i COULD have afforded the beach ceremony. It really did come down to more of a relaxing time. The adult only dinner in Palo was something I really wanted, and doing the cereomony on CC really split the day up. And i did want that extra day to relax afterwards. I don't regret my decision to switch to onboard.

You don't have to worry about losing the $1000 if there is bad weather or you can't dock at CC. I was assured that it would be refunded if I ended up with an on-ship reception. The only picture I have of my VR on CC with people in the background is right during the ceremony itself. And I am not sure I that will be true in the future, since my CC location won't be in use for awhile at least due to the CC construction. I don't know if it will be permanently relocated or not.

We also loved having our reception in Palo. We danced 3 dances- our first dance, one with our children, and one with my dad. :goodvibes We also chose to do our dinner at Palo a different night earlier in the cruise. I wanted to relax and enjoy the Palo dinner. With a CC ceremony (unless you are on a double dip) you disembark the next day- which means packing, and choosing pictures that night. I knew ahead of time I wanted to plan for that, and I'm happy I thought of that. I wasn't stressed out then. We did wear our wedding attire to dinner, including our bride/groom earhats! We also had our pictures taken with Mickey and Minnie that night as well in the atrium. Awesome pictures!

When you're on the Wonder, check out the ceremony locations. See which one speaks to you- deck 7, Castaway, or Cadillac Lounge. One will be the place you envision you and your hubby! Enjoy planning. We had a wonderful time.

Thanks Silly Little Pixie and 29apr00... We will be onboard the Wonder in 10 days!!! WOOOHOOO!! So I am planning on checking them out then... only problem is, we're sailing on The Magic :wizard: for our 10 yr in 2011! But I'm guessing the locations will be pretty much the same. (Nice to see another West Coaster!) So do I understand this right, the current CC location is closed? Is this due to the Cabanas construction?

I'm also going to check out locations at MK afterwards and preplan my photoshoot session!!! LOL, I'm obsessed right? I'm sure some of you other must have done this too!!! Please tell me you guys did this... lol, and what are some non traditional sites for MK photoshoot I should check out??

I think we all have this problem!!! ;)

seriously guys, what's so hard about NOT stepping on a wedding dress?!??!?!

I had the train cut off my dress for this very reason. Well this and the fact I did not wan to be dragging a train along the sand. I liked that my dress was more of a ballgown and no one steped on it. I had heard horror stories about the bustles getting ripped!

only time I had to worry about my train was on the steps..but I gotta tell you, scooping up your wedding dress so you can descend the stairs on the ship? Pretty much a Cinderella moment!

I am not kidding..I walked every staircase that night because I could grab my hem and feel like a princess...

stop laughing at me!!!

My dress had a option for an underskirt that would go to the ground and make a full skirt with the lace just as a train..that would have made a bustle if I had that...but I probably would have tripped on the hem for sure!!

LOL, I am not laughing, I think its a fabulous idea!!! I might just copy you, and make my DH record me on the camera making my princess debut each time.... maybe I could get them to announce us like when you get on the ship. :) Now introducing, princess Rebekah! Well I can dream right!?!!?

GOOD NEWS! Called DFTW today, and will be in contact with a coordinator this week... AND I had read on here that VR's were cheaper, but was not getting my hopes up just in case that was one of the many changes they had made! So I am QUITE excited that it will be $1000 LESS than I was planning for!! Hip Hip Hooray!!!!

Now what to do about a dress... Princess, or long and simple but stunning. (Well stunning on the size -12 girl who models it...lol) I just can't decide!!!

29apr00- Sorry I don't know any of your names...but, I'm going back to look at your Epcot pics again so I can show my DH why we MUST have this added on to the MK ones, thanks for sharing those!!!

My gown is a size 12....simple, stunning all at the same time....be willing to let you have it! click on my TR signature to take a look. It is wonderful, but I will really never get to wear it again.

I had a VR too in Nov. Unfortunately, I think that they changed the cost of VR to be the same as a Wedding after 2009. I forgot if you said you were on CC, or onboard. But I have to tell you during our ceremony on Deck 7, we were moving (at sea) and boy was it windy. So luckily the dress I had has just long and simple and that I didn't have a veil. (Also a size 12 girl here :) )
