Tanya truthfully i'm not looking forward to it. the menu does not look appealing to me.....i'm not a fan of mediterean style italian. I'm going for the dessert. :lmao:

If all you really want is dessert I would go with what I have seen suggested on other boards: make your reservation either first thing in the evening, if you have late seating, or last one at night, if you have early seating. That way you don't miss your scheduled dinner and you get your dessert in Palo's.

Hey DCL Brides, I need your help. I can now make my reservations for stuff. I was hoping to do brunch in Palo so I wouldn't miss dinner any night. I am only going on a 3 night cruise.

The problem is that ever since I could 1st make ressies, it says only Dinner is offered in Palo. Is this the usual? Should I still make us reservations and skip something else? What should I skip? I really want to eat at the Animator's palette. So what would you do?

Hi Tanya- I heard that even if you are in Parrot Cay and want something off the Animator's Palate menu you just tell your waiter and they will get it for you...vice versa for other restaurants.

Jen! You don't like beef filet?? They have the best filet..I also had only had lamb once when we went on the last cruise..I was afraid to try it but the waiter said he would get me a small bit of the lamb and filet..it was so out of this world, they gave it to me again the night of our reception.

Penne Arrabiata is what I made for dinner last night..spicy shrimp..YUM!!
If you don't like shrimp, they could probably substitute chicken..that is the good thing about Palo..it is cook to order unlike the dining room

and the lemoncello...oh!! that is good!!

Ya'll are making me hungry! And Jen, I'm full blooded Italian, so bring it on!

I love rack of lamb with mint. It's something I don't get to eat everyday! Maybe I will try to squeeze in 2 dinners;) We have early dining b/c of the age of our kids. We are used to eating dinner around 6 pm

Thanks for all the advice oh wise ones!:worship:

Hi Ladies

Just had to vent a little here. I am leaving for my DCL wedding on Sept 12. So we are coming down to the wire. I requested the private Palo room for 18 of us last year & was told by both Cathy & then Brie it could be done. 30 days out I was told that Palo will only accomdate 16 of us. So that means i have to choose 2 people not to go or hope that i can get a table for 6 once when we embark. OK so i can deal with that in some way. So my only request was for Palo for Sunday 13. Well Brie emails me today with all my final paper work and has us down for Palo Thursday night instead of Sunday. So i bring it to her attention & it is taken so now I am pissed. The one thing i want & it just so happens to be taken. I just think that the entire process in which things are done for DCL are a little screwed up. I am trying to make this a good expierance & not regret this descion but this really burns me up.

Thanks ladies for listening my :bride:

I'm sorry you are having issues iwth Palo...i'm suprised both Cathy and Brie told you you could have 18. I was told 12-14 MAX! I also had to provide the reservation numbers for everyone to ensure that i did have the 12minimum. I agree, everything about the DCL wedding is screwed up....if I knew a year ago what i knew now...there is no way i'd pick this option. I'm hopeing for the best...but prepared for the worst. it sucks that we have invested so much dreams and time and money into this...and am fairly certain something is going to screw it up.:hug::hug::hug:

I tried to book the private room at Palo but only have 10 adults. Can I borrow 2 guest from you? :rotfl:

I know I am a bit late on this topic but, for those who have an "unofficial" booking, you might want to call in to make it final when you can. You never know who else might want your date!

When I went to book my date there was another couple who had the date I wanted on "hold". I had to keep calling Cathy every day for 2 weeks because the other couple would not fully commit to the date and she wanted to wait to hear from them. Around week 2 she told me that she waited long enough and put me in the spot and charged my bill.

Well they both told me i could have the private room & a table for 5 in the main dinning area, which we were fine with. Just so that we all could eat at Palo together. But the date is what they also both told me was set for us as well. To find out a that it's not. I am hoping like you to not regret this. I am trying to stay as positive as i can & i know everything will be great. Thanks for the hugs :thumbsup2

At first I was afraid I wouldn't have the 12..I was going to add my bridesmaids 18 yo son to the reservation just to get the room, but we ended up getting another couple from our group to come.
I was told a max of 13 because I was having my cake in the corner and they couldn't put a chair on that end..in the end, I think 14 would have been fine, but it worked out perfect

Jen - I know right now it seems like it isn't worth it, but I promise..you will not regret it and nothing will be screwed up..the ship's wedding crew is amazing and really did everything to make it perfect..right down to the Palo manager and team!! I think I went to Palo about 4 times that week to talk to Marco about the room and the floral..he even let me go set up my flowers during a wine tasting in shorts and my pre-wedding clothes..they really do a great job (even the photographer TRIED..he just had a hot flash)

Jen....you have to eat at Palo....it is oooohhhh soooo yummy at every level.

Poohbear....we had too many for the private room, and it was already booked, so they created a huge round table for us in the middle of it all. In my opinion it was just fabulous....more people looking at ME!!! :lmao: We could see the kitchen area, and they just paid so much attention to us. I think there are some pictures of where we were in my TR, so take a peak.

So don't fret about not having the "private" room. And just make certain that when you board, you get your coordinator on it. They are the ones that will help you the most, and bend over backwards to make the things you want happen.

Cheryl

I agree! I am trying to not rely too much on what Brie says - unless it's something totally crazy that I do believe her answer. But when it comes to the little details, I am just going to let the on ship coordinator handle it and try not to stress about it now.

That may not be much of a comfort, but the ones on the ship have more control than those on land.

Hey! We are on this same cruise...We were married on the 4/18/09 cruise and it was absolutely beautiful...I understand your stress about Palo...When you get onboard talk with the onboard coordinator(Jonathan Andrews was ours, and he was wonderful) and see what they can do to accomodate you. Are you getting married on the ship? Good Luck and Congrats!

I have a question...not even sure if this is possible but I thought I would ask you guys if you know or not. Can someone have a vow renewal on the ship like on Secret deck 7 and not have the DCL staff involved? It seems to be expensive and we were wondering if there was an ordained minister that we knew going if we could do it on our own instead of going through DCL. No flames please, just asking.

Your best bet might be to do something while in one of the ports of call. You could easily do something on the beach with a minister.

I don't know this for a fact, but might assume the same rules that apply for the parks would be in effect on the boat where if a CM sees the ceremony you may be confronted about it.

Best wishes!

Thanks, I'm sure that is the case. If it could be done on the ship on your own then why wouldn't most people just do that, right? :goodvibes

We did our 10th renewal in WDW, on the deck of the OKW condo with just a few friends and a captain of a ship that we knew. No one from disney knew, it was just us, and then we went to dinner in Epcot after. I did all the leg work and we had a wonderful time. I supposed you could do something like that on board the ship, if you did it in your stateroom. I don't think that Disney would stop that from happening....how would they even know? You just wouldn't be able to have the "Disney experience" with the renewal.

Ultimately remember that you are celebrating your marriage, and love for one another...and in this day and age, that is a beautiful thing. There are too many marriages that don't make it, that to celebrate your's is wonderful.

Have fun with what ever you choose.

Ok cool!!! Well i guess Brie got tired of dealing with me because i got a call from a group coordinator from DCL & after 3 phone calls we made Palo happen on sunday for 19 of us. Yes we are getting married @ 5:30 on Thursday. I hope to see you there it is always nice to meet fellow disers. Thanks
