Special wedding gift: Yes, except now they tell you what it is (a DFTW cake service set)

:lmao: the cake server is a gift? how about you keep it and lower my price $100!

I don't think VR's get the $100 credit. :guilty:

We got the champagne and strawberries and our gift was 2 robes that said DFTW..I think I would rather have the cake serving set!!

So much has changed since our ceremony last year, I don't think I would be much help :(

But it was your pictures and info that inspired me to look into this option so you have already been a big help without knowing it.:goodvibes:hug:

I am actually really pleased the cake serving set is the gift, that will be a nice keepsake.

With regards to the cost, I actually think its really reasonable. But then I am from the UK where weddings can cost upwards of £15000, yes thats £££ not $$$!

What we want is something simple and straightforward. It will just be us two and our two boys and the fewer decisions I have to make the better. I am a very organised person but I think planning a full on wedding would seriously stress me out and ruin my enjoyment of the whole build up.
Simple is the key for me.:thumbsup2

We didnt get the cake serving set in April 09...We received the photo box with some photo card holders for weddings that they offer as a stateroom gift that you can purchase, and we received a DFTW towel and bag to hold the towel. We thought it was a great gift!

My son and future DIL will be able to officially book their wedding next Tuesday. We are sailing on the Labor Day 2010 cruise. That will mean we should soon get the planning packet, I think. My son has been waiting for this. We have already talked to Bri several times and Cathy before that. We are "on the books" just not yet official. Can't wait til next week!!!:cool1::yay:

:rotfl: That's exactly what I would say!

You know, in the 2010 packet they make absolutely no distinction between what VRs get compared to what weddings get - they even removed the license from the wedding package - and considering you have to pay the same price for a VR as a wedding now, they dang well *better* include a $100 credit.

Aww how exciting!

So is that how it works? If I were to contact the Disney wedding people with the cruise date we were hoping for, would they be able to tell us if others are already "on the books" for a wedding on that cruise?
Or is it pot luck. You book the cruise and then hope its available at the 1 year mark? It would be a bit of a hassle to have to cancel and rebook a cruise if the slot wasn't available especially coming from the UK and having to book flights and our DVC accommodation.

oh yeah, you can definaly call Brie and make sure that your date is available before you book! Then you can go "on the booK" but nothing official until 1 year. I haven't heard of it happening, but i'm sure that if there were more than 1 bride trying for a date/location....you'd have a lottery just like they do for WDW.

Cheryl - you fedex me some lobsters, I will crate you some Navels and grapefruits from our local grove!

I will look into it for you. I saw Giada cook Lobster tails the other day, and I think I am going to do it. For $6.00 a lobster, it is worth just eating the tail!!! :thumbsup2

Our VR gifts were the robes and a nice bag to take to the beach. The bag has sinced ripped somewhat, but I love the robes. We did have rose petals in our room...very romantic, even with our then 6 y.o....;)

From what I understand it's not like a lottery. the first one that calls gets the spot, whether official or not. When the spots are full no one else can even be put on the books unofficially. When the date comes that we can officially add it to the cruise, Bri said she would call us and make sure we still wanted it, then add it to the cruise. At that point if someone canceled someone else would be able to book it. But once you have asked for a certain date and they have written it on the calendar, no one else can have it unless you cancel.

Cathy put me "unofficially" on the books first too. I had already booked the cruise, but wanted to hold the date if available since I was rebooking onboard 1 week later and adding 2 cabins for my family. No way did I want to move 3 reservations! They were very nice about it. It officially got added when I returned from my cruise with my new reservation number.

Good luck with getting the dates you want!!

Christine

We were married on August 13 and did not have any rose petals in the stateroom. We did get champagne and chocolate covered strawberries (which were amazing!).

We received a gift of an extra large beach towel that said Fairytale weddings or something similar on it, a totebag, a photo box and several photo cards. We did not get the cake cutting set.

Good Luck...we are so happy with our wedding...it was perfect!!

Hey DCL Brides, I need your help. I can now make my reservations for stuff. I was hoping to do brunch in Palo so I wouldn't miss dinner any night. I am only going on a 3 night cruise.

The problem is that ever since I could 1st make ressies, it says only Dinner is offered in Palo. Is this the usual? Should I still make us reservations and skip something else? What should I skip? I really want to eat at the Animator's palette. So what would you do?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe brunch is only offered on the 4 night cruises (day at sea). I'm sorry about that! :headache:

Yes..Brunch is only offered on the 4 and 7 day cruises..Ours was on a CC day because we had a double dip cruise (4 day) but not on our 3 day

yup..,.brunch is not offered on the 3 nt Tanya. sucks! There is someone you can talk to...i don't know who yet....that can arrange your dining how you want it. We are making it so Parrot Cay is the night of the VR as we don't really care to eat in that one.

Thanks for the info! So is Palo a must? What should I skip if I eat there?

It is a bummer that there is not a Palo brunch on a 3 night! We skipped Palo on our wedding cruise because we didn't want to miss out on dinner with the group. I would also choose to skip Parrot Cay:)

I asked if we could know our rotation ahead of time and Brie said it wasn't decided until a few days before we sail...I didn't pursue it with her but I know others have made specific rotation requests. I would prefer not to dine in Palo on Pirate night (Friday) since Palo dinner takes a bit longer but that would just be my preference.
