Congrats on your wedding! :goodvibes

The cake and champagne reception after the ceremony in Palo is a private event, so the normal rules about no one under age 18 do not apply. We had four kids under 18 at our reception.

We did ask for ice cream to be served in Palo with cake, but that was all. Afterwards most of our guests went back to thier rooms, got changed for the beach and headed for Cookies.

HTH!

Oh wow, this is awesome. I'll call tomorrow for it. I was so stressed out because my son couldn't go there and trying to figure out a way to have a meal instead of just cake and champagne so early in the day.

If I might ask, what kinds of food did you have at Palo afterwards?

At least the way it was for our wedding (and things could have changed for the Dream), Palo was closed to the public for the time the ship was docked at Castaway Cay. We never did eat a Palo, as we wanted to be with our family for the dining rotations, and we did have children with us. We tried to book Palo for brunch during the day at sea (the only time Palo serves brunch, at least on the Wonder while we were there) but something happened with our reservation, and we were not able to attend.

:goodvibes

Will you be sailing the Dream (I'm not sure where all the cruise ships are). If so, Shanda said the "receptions" would be in the Outlook lounge (compared to Palo)

Oh shoot! I might be a little old school at this point! I hope I didn't get any expectations up :goodvibes

Ok I have a question for everyone. We are booked for an onboard wedding because I didn't want to take any time away from our Castaway Cay day. But now I'm thinking of switching to the Castaway wedding because the pictures are very important to me and I really wanted the water in the background. I liked the old secret deck 7 location but it doesn't look like there is anything similar on the Dream. What would everyone else do? Do you loose much of your day on Castaway Cay?:confused3

Hello!

Like everyone else posted you can have under 18 at the reception...most people say that they go over to Cookies back on the beach after the wedding to eat...I personally am having a special brunch the day after the wedding instead of being taken out of the dinner rotation at night...the only issue you will have is the special brunch is at Palo thus 18 and up...If you are on the 4 day sailing I am sure they could do something similar for you!

Hi all, I put a call into Shanda this morning, waiting for a call back.

We're on the Magic, so I'm not sure if they changed the options available. A t this point, I will take anything anywhere to have a reception afterwards other then cake and champagne.

DH is disappointed and says it doesn't feel like a real wedding if we don't have a meal, and I agree with him.

So if we can have any private room with bruch/lunch we'd be happy.

wow its like yea we know whats the deal on the first day.. how about the wedding day!?! :headache: its like she squeezed in the last part like oh yea by the way 'there is no deck area' as of right now.. so does that mean later that there will be? some how magically build a deck.. craziness. on a better not i saw pictures of the lounge & its really really really pretty.

^ Call and complain- I finally heard back the day after I did! :lmao:

Hi! I'm new to this thread but I am very interested.
Who did you complain to?

How was it resolved?

Has your wedding occured in Outlook?

Good Luck & Thanks for your time!

Hello! New to this thread, so not up on 'correct etiquette' but do you mean the cake/champagne reception? also, have you heard any news about an ON DECK ceremony vs on board?
Thanks for your time!

How many nights is your cruise? Shanda is able to put in a request for dining rotations.
Ex: We're doing a 4 night cruise, and have requested early dining.
this gives us a 4pm wedding on day 2 (nassau for the dream) and the dining rotation seats at 6p. This will allow all 17 of us ages 2-66 to be together for a meal after the wedding. Our guests will enjoy Palo on night 3 and still make it to the 3rd restaurant on night 4, so they will not miss out on any restaurant and still experience Palo. Personally the Fiancee and I will do Remy on Night Four because we're foodies. Hope this helps :)

here is an album with most of the wedding pics in it. everything was awesome!!

Hello!
I am getting married in 5 weeks onboard the dream so I was very interested in your photos. Looks like everyone had an amazing time!!
were the 237 that were posted on your photobucket the professional shots?

Where you pleased with their attention to detail?
Did you give them any guidelines?
Were there any outdoor options?
Do they airbrush?

Thanks for your time,

I spoke to shanda. We're doing a 7 day Eastern , which puts our ceremony on the very last day of the cruise.

We've booked Palo for after the wedding. They wont do a meal, but will do hor dourves and such plus the cake and champagne since most of the staff is on the island. As you all said, we are allowed to take my son to Palo since it is a private party and Palo isnt open at the time. Additional charges apply for the foods we choose.

Our other choice was to have a full luncheon but in the main dining room in a corner of the room. It wouldnt be private, but most people will be on CC. However, there would be no additional cost for that meal since it would be our regular meal.

Hi! Welcome! Always excited to see new cruise brides. Yes - I mean the cake/champagne reception. I believe the on board ceremonies are in this lounge also (but I'm a Castaway Cay bride so I'm not entirely certain). Also to my knowledge, they haven't announce an ON DECK ceremony yet.

Great news with the Palo hors d'ouervres for you! Sounds amazing.

I am very concerned about the lack of outdoor options at this point in time for the Dream, as I will be an on board bride in 5 weeks.

Are there any professional pictures (from the DCL photogs) that anyone can post or email me privately? I have not been impressed with the Outlook venue from the shots I've seen (most recently on YouTube with DFTW), so maybe I am just not seeing the most beautiful ones or any professional shots in general.

I absolutely do not mind dropping 1k on pictures however I want the shots to be brilliant.

Thank you again experienced DCL/Brides!

Hey Ladies,

Question have any of you used the honeymoon registry or plan on it? I am planning on providing my bridal party with the insert for the bridal shower invites and as I know they will be having the bridal shower sometime in May/June I want to start them! Have any of you provided this info for your guests in terms of a registry and if so how did you word it? I am also going to put a plan B that gift cards are eligible at Disney stores as many people are saying they have had issues with the site and I was also told it really only works on Internet Explorer...any thoughts? I am planning on buying vellum paper and just making them on my printer...

I personally am not using one, but I know a couple FB friends who have, if you need me to ask around.
Our local grocery store sells Disney giftcards (and you save on their gas when you buy them) last year I used these on the cruise at the end of the trip like cash - for the spa treatments, booze etc without an issue. This year I've purchased $1.5k to cover the remaining photo package and other spending that will happen on this trip (and score a free tank of gas)

Yeah we are def. need a honeymoon registry, at my engagement party everyone was asking for a registry and I thought that was reaching but finally broke down and made one for everyone asking!

Hi everyone :wave2:

Does anyone know if the cost for additional guests needs to be paid prior to sailing? Also, if you pick a picture package do you have to keep it if you decide the pictures are not so good?

Thanks :)

I told Cathy that I would like to have some for my hair. When I got on board, I told Florencia who arranged to have them for me. There were 2 stems of orchids that Trish and I used. They didn't charge me for them....don't know why....maybe Florencia did it for us. I didn't specify the flower type, just that I was going to get an updo and that I would like some flowers since I wasn't going to have a veil.
And they were real.

Hi Cheryl
I was reading thru this thread and see that you were married Jan. 23, 88, we were married Jan. 24, 87. We are planning a vow renewal in Jan. 2012. Our 25th! We sail out on the magic on the 21st. I am hoping that they will let us do the renewal on the 24th, but reading thru the thread, i see that the day is chosen for you.. But I am thrilled to be doing it any day really.
I wanted to tell you I think you had an amazing renewal, very relaxed and easy going, exactly what we are looking for too. I love your hair too the flowers look great. Thanks for sharing and all your insight, its all very helpful.

Hi everyone :wave2:

Does anyone know if the cost for additional guests needs to be paid prior to sailing? Also, if you pick a picture package do you have to keep it if you decide the pictures are not so good?

Thanks :)

We're getting married in May 2012 on Castaway Cay and have already received our planning packet. Shanda included the following due date reminders in our email confirmation.

90 days prior to sailing: payment for wedding package is due (2500 onboard or 3500 castaway cay)

60 days prior to sailing: planning packet must be returned to DFTW; you have to list each guest w/ room numbers in the packet

30 days prior to sailing: payment for additional guests & wedding extras is due

I'm not sure if you can decline the photography package after reviewing the pics but that is a good question. I too have mixed feelings about onboard photography after reading reviews on this board. Hopefully, over the next year more DCL brides will share their experiences/photos aboard the Dream to help me decide :)

Jen

Hi everyone! I tried to change my onboard ceremony to a CC ceremony but it is already taken. Now my questions that I am worried about are.. Am I still able to purchase a photography package on CC for my wedding party to get some pics? and Will they do the ceremony on our sea day? because we wanted to do the dolphin swim with our kids. If we have our ceremony on Nassau I don't believe this will be an option. Thanks in advance for any responses. This website is great!
