I've been trying to get a hold of Shanda with no luck...

Our confirmation lists the location on the dream as Deck 14 midship which according to the deck plans is the Outlook Bar/Lounge. I am disappointed because we have anticipated a outdoor ceremony on deck (although we understand for rain, wind, etc) and this is an indoor location. Friends on the cruise boards are saying there is no "aft" deck (secret deck 7) on the Dream that they can see from the photo images.

The room appears to not be decorated for a ceremony and rather... ugh... Nothing special... The room has windows that look over the pool... not even ocean...????? I do not want to spend an additional $1000 to have it at Castaway Cay.

For the price - I don't think that is what I want... Are the additional "perks" and attention enough to make up for disappointment in the location???

Need your advice...

Just spoke with Shanda for the offical answer...

Cancellation must be prior to 45 days.
The Outlook Lounge is the only spot they have identified for ceremonies at this point - they will be "scouting" additional locations onboard next week. Unsure what they will find...

...but that doesn't help us since our 45 day mark is thursday...

What to do... Hmmmm...:confused::confused::confused:

Just wanted to give you some encouragment, and some pixiedust  Tough choice to make, if you are set on your vow renewal on DCL than stick it out. But I am sitting here waiting for my vow renewal in 5 more years ;) It would be kinda neat to do your renewal on the first cruise year with the Dream. :confused3

Sorry, I am so not helping ;)

hrarcham, that's quite the predicament- I feel for you:hug: I think Disney should give you a few more days, as it isn't fair to force you to make a decision before all the information is available. Perhaps you could talk to someone up higher than Shanda? Hopefully they'll make an exception for you since the circumstance is out of your control. Best of luck!

On a side note, I'm considering switching from Castaway Cay to an on-board location to save the money, so I'm also awaiting the new locations on the Dream. I really hope they offer something outdoors- the other ships do, but besides continuity, I feel that on a ship as big as the Dream they should be able to find a nice outdoor spot somewhere.

ohh myy goodness.... i am so sorry to hear about that. No girl should have to settle for their wedding, ESPECIALLY the price your paying... it is not fair of disney to not make an exception for you, its not your fault they didnt have it together.. maybe they should think these things over before offering weddings on the ship specially if their not even certain of the places the weddings are going to be held .. but the are certain about the prices of how much everything will cost...funny.

I know personally if there isnt an outside deck or the inside isnt done up nicely for a wedding then i would deff. consider pulling my wedding out of the cruise.. :sad1::sad1::sad1: They never have answers and i completely understand because its a new ship ... but now we have to wait what a couple more months before we find out anything else...

sorry for all the negativity but its ashame to see brides hurt like this on a day that is so special and ive read the stories of the past brides and im so tired of disney cruise brides taking a back seat! our big day is just as important too..

I appreciate all of your words of encouragement and pixie dust! It also helps to hear that I am not the only one that thinks an outdoor location would be ideal on a cruise ship. Even on the disney wedding site they have pictures on deck - which may lead some DCL Dream brides into believing their ceremonies will be outdoors... I expressed my disappointment that there was no outdoor location and she said she would tell "Disney" about my feedback.

My hubby and I believe all things happen for a reason. We booked our vow renewal a year ago on DCL because we've enjoyed all our cruises with them and the kiddos love Disney. For this reason, we have faith that our ceremony will be special no matter what the location - cuz it is hard to believe anything Disney would not be... right????? So we have decided to keep our vow renewal on the Dream as scheduled. In the meantime, I am crossing my fingers that Shanda will "scout" out the perfect outdoor area for a ceremony!!!

I'll keep you updated - and check out my PJ for the pictures towards the end of February...

I don't want to give you any false hope..but because of the unique situation (being a new ship) maybe once you board, you can talk to the onboard coordinator about a better location..maybe by then, they will have worked out some location kinks.

I know that being a guinea-pig is stressful..I sweated about the cake in the Palo room for months..but you are right..Disney is going to make it great!!

Personally....I was so focused on Dave, the vows, the songs, the dance, that the hour went by so fast, I didn't even notice my surroundings. We were in one of the clubs and at first I thought how are they going to make it nice? They just did....there were rose petals on the rug, there were bows put up, there was beautiful flowers near the cake. I know that we were ocean level, because you can see the water out the port holes in the pictures. But again, just like when you get married, everything becomes so self focused on the moment, and then poof....it is done.

I have to say that I was not disappointed in anything that happened that day. They made everything special and wonderful.

Don't fret....I know it is hard to do. And like Betsy advised, ask when you get on board. The coordinators really can work magic.

So, we can't afford to bring a photographer with us- we took the last inside staterooms on our cruise a few months ago, and even those were $1200 each, and now the cheapest available are over $1800. I know several photographers will trade a cruise for photos, but there's no way I can justify that much money, even if an inside stateroom opened up, for a few pictures. The thing is, people seem to be very unhappy with their pics through Disney, so in your opinion, is it worth the money to have a photographer at all? Would we be better off just using the Shutters photopass type thing they have on the ship and island, just going from photographer to photographer? Has anyone done this? Call me crazy, but even their cheapest wedding photo package seems awfully expensive for what you get. TIA!! :goodvibes

Hey dear - have you thought about doing a photo shoot around the Disney resorts in your wedding attire? You could do this before or after your cruise and get some great shots. I know it's not the same, but you would be able to get a great professional to help you out. (Shameless plug for myself here.) But also, Randy, Misty, David and Vicki Arndt - they are all fabulous! I don't know what there rates are for that sort of thing - but it would be way cheaper than an in the park shoot, and it would be cheaper than paying for a stateroom.

Good luck.

I totally agree Cheryl! I feel so bad for what you brides are going through right now - BUT - I have to say that the on-board coordinators will bend over backwards to accommodate you and make your day special. There are many things that the DFTW planner says can't happen or that she doesn't know about. Just have faith that the staff on the ship will do everything possible to make your day magical. Good luck!

I'm not until October 28th. Hopefully you earlier brides can provide great information for us pulling up the rear! I too have been a bit disappointed with the response time. I really want to know where or if they are going to have an outdoor location! Has anyone heard anything?

i herd yes that they will have an outdoor spot for cermonies but they just dont know where yet. they have to look for a good spot where it can be private and fit guests. I know that they have one place thats inside called the outlook.. it was featured on facebook a little bit ago.

The Outlook bar looks nice, but I would really like to do it outside....oh well..time will only tell.

Hello, everyone! I am new here and I just wanted to say congratulations to everyone! It must be so exciting!! I am hoping someone could answer my two questions that I have as I am trying to get some information about a possible Disney Fantasy Cruise Line Wedding in the Summer of 2012..

1. Can anyone tell me what other expenses I should be aware of with the wedding package? I know it's $3,500 for CC which is the location I want, but i was curious to the extras such as an on board photo package (not interested in any park photos as time is an issue), extra people attending (around 20 total), flowers for the bridal party, etc. I just want to see how much approximately it will be after all the extras, and if there is any thing else I am unaware of!

2. Is it really 12 months to the date that you can book the wedding? I would just hate for it to be 12 and then see other's already booked ahead of me when i was unaware! I had someone tell me 16 months, but I am assuming they meant for WDW weddings after lurking the boards. I only have 2 dates that would really work that summer due to medical school, and I'm hoping one of them will work!

Thank you all for any help you can give me! I really would appreciate it! Enjoy your planning! :)
