Disney Cozumel excursion question

We are bouncing a lot of ideas around for an excursion in Cozumel. We really would like to do Tulum, but his mom has mobility issues, and we don't think she could handle that (plus the cost for the 6 of us is pretty high). Another option was to do the AI at Mr. Sanchos, but my fiance and kids really want to see the ruins. It doesn't seem like an easy way to do the ruins on our own and get to Mr. Sanchos, so we looked at Disney's Cozumel Ruins and Beach Tour. Only thing is, we only get an hour and a half at the beach (excursion is 4-4.5 hours and we are in port for 8+). Is it possible to not take the transportation back to the ship with the Disney excursion and do our own transportation? Is this allowed? Also I have read that the beach with this is Playa Mia, anyone know if that is true?

It depends on the time of the tour, if the tour is early and you still have time at the end you should be ok, however, It's worth checking at the port adventures desk as sometimes they swap the order of visits around.

If you do it ensure the driver/ guide knows so the coach doesn't wait for you.

So as long as they do the tour first thing, we can tell the driver that we want to be left at the beach? I didn't think about them not doing the tour till afternoon...that would throw a wrench in the plan.

We did that tour last month and it would have been no problem to stay at the beach longer and get a cab back. There were cabs waiting there. Definitely inform your guide beforehand, though, so they don't sit around waiting for you. And yes, the beach was Playa Mia.

Awesome! I think this gives everyone a bit of what they want, just wanted more beach time. Thanks! Now to just make sure this doesn't start in the afternoon and mess with my plans, lol.

The ruins at Tulum are very nice and the beach is amazing. However, it is a long way from Cozumel and I'm not sure I would want to take & pay for a taxi from Tulum to Playa del Carmen, and then the ferry to Cozumel and a taxi from the ferry port to the ship. To me that sounds like a hassle.

I really doubt they'd change the order. It just makes the most sense to do the ruins first before the heat of the day is at its worst. Also, it just seems that their route is well planned out. We drove through the center of the island to get to San Gervasio and then took a circuitous route around the perimeter so that we could see a bit more scenery. Everything was well organized and I don't think they'd want to change it.

We did the AI Mister Sanchos and it was a GREAT day. Got there early and had our choice of cabanas/chairs, etc. Sounds like a lot of hassle to try and do both since Tulum is so far. No real advice beyond highly recommending Mister Sanchos. ;-)

My worry was more that they wouldn't start the excursion till afternoon. We get there around 8 in the morning and don't leave till after 5, and just want to make sure it starts in the morning so we have all afternoon at the beach.

We won't do Tulum since it is so far but was looking at the excursion that tours the ruins on Cozumel. I would love to go to Mr. Sanchos but short of paying for double excursions, I don't think we will be able to do it all lol.
