Hello all,
I am a first year student at Emmanuel College in Boston, and I have wanted to do the Disney Internship for as long as I can remember. Sadly, my college is not affiliated with the program, so if I chose to do the program, I would be losing 12 credits, which I greatly need. So I was wondering if anyone knew if Disney offered a Summer Program for College students?

They do, but it's only for alumni of the college program. You might be able to work something out with your school depending on your major though. It can't hurt to ask.

I'm pretty sure you can only do the college program over summer if you already completed a fall or spring session. You can get credits through other schools or online classes as an alternative during the regular season though.

As the others said, it's only available for alumni of the CP. I would still try to talk to your college about it. Maybe they just haven't ever had anybody want to do it so they aren't a part of it yet.

You could also try to take 12 credits online. It would be alot of work but some people do do it.

Hey there! I go to Suffolk, so I'm pretty close to you. If I get in, I'm taking a semester off. Can you do that, by any chance?

Ask them to freeze your scholarships/loans, etc, if possible. Or see if you can get this counted as an internship.

What's your major?

I don't know if Emmanuel offers online classes, but could you do some of those? You can only take 2 online classes while at Disney, I believe, but I could be wrong. Could you catch up with summer classes, as an alternative?

Also, I know other schools offer credit for the program, would your school be interested in transferring those credits as gen. ed requirements?

It doesn't hurt to apply now, and make a meeting with the Dean to discuss this program - tell them what it means to you, how you can promote the school to millions of people over the 5 months, etc. That way you have a head start on the application, and then can work out logistics later. If it doesn't work this time, there's always more semesters.

And finally, another important thing to know is about health insurance, because that's always a big issue. Under Massachusetts law, you are covered by your parents' insurance until age 26, no matter if you're in school or not, so don't worry about that. :thumbsup2

You can probably unenroll and go through another school. I know Central Michigan and UNC Greensboro(?) both have huge programs and my school accepted 12 transfer credits from them. They were also much cheaper than paying for a semester at my school. It's up to your school as to how they will accept them, but I needed general graduation credits so it worked perfectly.
