DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM - A Spring 2013 Adventure! *COMPLETE* 11/20

March 14th, 2013

Today I had my first day of Concierge classroom training!

We were done at 5 o'clock. I drove Kelsey home, I stopped at Chick Fil A for dinner, and then went back to the apartments. I went over to Mark's and then we went to Publix to go grocery shopping.

I came back, put everything away, and COMPLETELY cleaned my room. I finally folded my laundry, picked up the clothes off my floor, made my bed, and EVERYTHING. It felt so good to get it all done.

Then I talked to my Mom on the phone and caught up on 3 days worth of trip report journaling! I got a little bit behind because, frankly, I am having too much fun.

March 15th, 2013

Today was day 2 of our Concierge classroom training!

After class, my friend Kelsey and I decided we wanted to go out to dinner! I was craving San Angel Inn SO bad so she made us a reservation! The only time open was 8:15 pm so we took it.

We went back to the apartments and changed, and then we headed to Epcot! We went straight to Mexico and, even though it was only 6 something, we asked if we could check in early! They didn't have a problem and they just gave us a pager.

In the meantime we went on the Three Caballeros ride. Did you know caballeros means gentlemen!? So its THE THREE GENTLEMEN! How cute is that!?

About 2 minutes after we got off the ride, our pager buzzed! It was PERFECT!

We were seated and we were brought our AMAZING chips! I couldn't stop eating them! The green salsa is definitely my favorite.

dsc1140k.jpg

For my dinner I got the Pollo de las Rajas because OBVIOUSLY that's the most incredible thing on the menu. I have been craving it since I was at San Angel with my Mom, Nana, and Dea. I'm so glad I was able to have it again! The chicken is SO good and the sauce has this FANTASTIC flavor. Its almost sweet but in the most complementary way possible to the chicken and rice. GAHH I love it so much. I ate the entire thing.

dsc1144o.jpg

Kelsey is a vegetarian so she got the vegetarian option! It had vegetables, tortillas, and beans. She thought it was really good!

dsc1142gm.jpg

After that we left and we were SO full! However, we had to get some type of dessert! We walked over to France to go to the bakery and it was SO packed. That was out.

Back to Future World we go! I am OBSESSED with this picture:

dsc1150bm.jpg

We decided to go over to Sunshine Seasons to get dessert there! I OBVIOUSLY got my strawberry shortcake! NOMS!

img9427x.jpg

Kelsey got the crème brulee and a latte! She was very happy!

img9424w.jpg

After that, I had to take Kelsey on her first ride of Soarin'! She was nervous because she had NO idea what to expect. She HATES drops and isn't the hugest fan of heights, but I assured her she would be okay!

She recognized Patrick IMMEDIATELY and was all excited! Then once the ride got going she was totally fine! I'm glad we were on the bottom row so she could feel a little more safe. She thought it was so cool! Plus, she HAS to go on these rides for product knowledge so she can share these cool experiences with the guests! YAY SOARIN'!

After that we headed out of Epcot and drove home! It was time to call it a night. One more class tomorrow! WOOHOO!

March 16th, 2013 - Meeting Victoria and Nicole!

Today was my last day of classroom training!

I headed out at 5 o'clock and went to the Contemporary. From there I went to the Magic Kingdom and waited under the railroad station. The sky was so blue and the atmosphere was so charming. I just love people watching on Main Street.

dsc1151x.jpg

However, I wasn't there just to look around. I was meeting up with some VERY special people! Actually, some wonderful ladies I have been DYING to meet! They were my friends Victoria (@LomographyLilly) and Nicole (@SparklyNicole) from twitter and instagram! YAY YAY YAY!

I was originally only going to meet up with Victoria but Nicole stayed with her a little longer than she planned to so I got to meet both!! These girls were absolutely some of the nicest people I have ever met. It was so easy to talk to them and its like we all knew each other for years!

We didn't really know what we wanted to do, so we started wandering through the park. We knew we were hungry, so we ended up at Pecos Bill and decided to eat there! I was a VERY happy camper.

We all sat outside and enjoyed our meals. Nicole and I both got burgers and Victoria got a kids turkey sandwich, which was her appetizer for Raglan Road! She was headed there to meet her Mom in a little bit.

The whole time we were just talking and catching up on life. It was so much fun! Victoria was really tired because she had been up since 5 am!
First she drove here and then she had a full Disney day! I hope she was awake for her Raglan Road reservation!

All of the lines were unfortunately very long, so we didn't have time to go on anything. Victoria had to leave around 7 pm, so we went over to the Frontierland bridge and asked someone to take our picture!

dsc1154n.jpg

I hope I get to see these girls again very soon!

dsc1155q.jpg

We said our goodbyes. Victoria is SUCH a sweetheart. Hopefully she'll be making another trip up to Disney in the near future!

Then Nicole and I went to get MICKEY BARS!!! I was really craving one so obviously it was a must.

dsc1156z.jpg

We took them and went to the Tangled area to sit down and enjoy them. We just talked about life and I told her all about my DCP. She was such a good listener and she had awesome stories to share with me as well!

Then she asked if we could go take pictures of the castle! Since it was right before sunset, it was the golden hour. Aka a photographers dream! So we went over to Main Street USA and took some beautiful pictures!

This one is my favorite:

Walt and Mickey:

dsc1167p.jpg

My favorite little guy. (:

dsc1169a.jpg

We decided the PeopleMover was a good idea, so we went on that next! Unfortunately, about 30 seconds after we pulled away from the dock the ride stopped. However, we were perfectly content just chilling there and talking. We didn't even realize that the ride was stopped, in all honestly. In about 15-20 minutes we were on our way!

Then we went on Space Mountain! It seemed EXTREMELY fast to us tonight, even though I have been on this same ride and same track a TON of times these past few weeks. This was such a fun ride!!!

A walk through Fantasyland:

dsc1170z.jpg

Then we ended up in Adventureland so we could ride Pirates of the Caribbean! Finally the line died down so we were very happy!

We went over to get Thunder Mountain fastpasses but the ride was down and the fastpasses were for much later than anticipated. WAH.

But then we walked by Splash Mountain and I posted on twitter:
THERE ARE SPLASH MOUNTAIN LOGS TESTING AND I'M SO HAPPY.

YAY YAY YAY!!! So soon.

We walked back towards Main Street and in Liberty Square behind this random gate, I spotted Tiana's dress. My inner 5 year old came out and I just stared and pointed at it. Then she came out from behind the gate and I was like "AHHH IT'S THEM!!!" Tiana invited us to get in line to meet her and Naveen! The line wasnt long at all! SO WE DID!

They were absolutely FANTASTIC! Naveen spun me around like a princess twice. Also, Tiana asked if my necklace was from my prince! I was wearing the one Preston got me for Christmas so I said yes! Her and Naveen thought it was very sparkly and beautiful!

dsc1171z.jpg

dsc1172s.jpg

I think this picture just shows pure joy. We are all so smiley and genuinely having a wonderful time!

dsc1173p.jpg

Honestly, they were some of the most engaged and wonderful characters I have met. I absolutely LOVED both of them and they really took the time to chat with us and make us feel special. I was so happy!!

dsc1174r.jpg

dsc1175f.jpg

Then we headed back to Main Street and I stopped in the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom station to get some cards. We headed out of the park after that. I took the monorail to the Contemporary and Nicole headed on to the Polynesian! We said our goodbyes and I headed home!

I posted on twitter:
I can hear Celebrate the Magic from the Contemporary and it just makes me very emotional

Had such a lovely time with @LomographyLilly and @SparklyNicole at the Magic Kingdom today! Disney friends are just fantastic!

I facetimed Preston for about 2 hours, which was much needed because I feel like I haven't talked to him in a very long time! Once we hung up, I fell asleep in about 3 minutes.

I posted on twitter:
I'M SO EXCITED TO SLEEP OH MY GOD THIS IS BEAUTIFUL.

Good night.

March 7th, 2013 (Part 2) - Traveling Around the World With Duffy!

However, we did want to try something from the food booth in France. So we got the Verrine charlotte au pèches, which was caramelized peaches and vanilla cream. We were so excited to eat this... and then it ended up tasting REALLY gross. I don’t know if we got a bad batch or what, but it wasn’t sweet at all. The peaches tasted fine but the rest was yucky. That was probably our least favorite thing we ate on the whole trip!

dsc0904zu.jpg

Oh, we tried that one too and it WAS gross! ::yes::

Great "trip" report, by the way! I enjoy reading about all of your adventures!

I wish we had taken more advantage of the F&G food booths when we were there a few weeks ago, the food you had looked great! Oh well, I'm sure we'll make up for it at F&W in November.

Glad your concierge classes went well...one way you know you're doing the right thing is when it doesn't even feel like "work".

Hope it's warmed up in the last week or so, when we were there it was pretty chilly!

Crazy pin trading days are the best! :thumbsup2

So you don’t get to design your car all the time for Test Track? I find that odd, since that is part of the experience and all.

The F&G display in China is SO col. It must look amazing at night when it is all lit up.

All of the food and the topiaries are killing me right now. SO AMAZING.

I had NO clue they sold those Illuminations popcorn bucket. THAT IS INCREDIBLE!!!

Your pictures with the characters are adorable! Mickey in overalls is like the best thing ever. SO CUTE.

GOLDFISH ON TOP OF MAC AND CHEESE?!?!?! I have to try that ASAP.

That Ariel snow globe is SO pretty. I love it!

OOOOH BACON WRAPPED MEATLOAF. That looks heavenly.

I have “Disney Trivia from the Vault!” That is a really awesome book. I think you'll enjoy it!

Sounds like you and Preston had an amazing trip together!

I LOVE the pb&j milkshake from the 50s, so that in a cupcake form would be incredible.

Sorry you had a rough day back! ):

That is so awesome you are stay at the Boardwalk! I have always wanted to stay CL, but is just so much money and a lot of points for DVC. Some day though we will go ahead and splurge!

I NEED to go to the Dine-in theater one day. Food while you watch a movie = AWESOME SAUCE.

The UK topiaries are AWESOME.

THE TANGLED TOILETS!!!! I AM DYING.

I have been thinking about what I want to do for my DCP (even though it is a few years away), and I keep thinking about to Concierge. I think that would be perfect for me! I can’t wait to hear what you think about it!

Oh, the golden hour ♥

Sorry this is such a long comment! JUST SO MANY NEW AND AWESOME UPDATES!!!

Are they still gonna have those delicious food booths throughout May?? Cuz I was thinking of going then!

LOL at your killer TSM scores....show no mercy! Whenever I kill someone at TSM and they're upset I usually console them with the fact that their accuracy is usually better haha.

How cool is it to say "I GO TO DISNEY UNIVERSITY!"?!

Hahah!

I never get tired of the updates! I love the details about what your classes are like and how sometimes you must work until 2 in the morning. And how you rarely miss an opportunity to enjoy the parks, the rides, the food, and the people.
It is very nice to follow your adventures.

The purple lemonade looks interesting! And so much of the food looks so good!!!

Where did you get the Celebrate the Magic soundtrack? I am in love with that show and the music. I've been looking for it since we got back from our Disney trip but can't find it anywhere.

Boy you don't mess around when you update! These were great, thank you for sharing everything with us! The food at the F&G booths looks amazing, I'm going to HAVE to try a few of those things when I'm there trading my Florida Resident AP in April - I'll have to make sure not to eat on the ride up from Naples, though!

So glad you and Preston had a lovely time - you definately made some wonderful memories to cherish!

So many things to comment on, but I won't plug up the thread with everything! Just to say well done and keep living the dream!!!

I just love reading your updates. It's making my wait go by very fast. We are trying two places that you have raved about on this upcoming trip, Via Napoli and Sanaa, can't wait. You have made them sound amazing. I am also going to try pin trading for the first time. I have a feeling I will become addicted. :)

March 17th-19th, 2013

March 17th, 2013

This morning I slept in until 11 and it was AWESOME. Oh my God, sleep never felt so beautiful.

I ate some spagettios for lunch (well, technically that would be breakfast wouldn't it?) and got ready for work and headed over there for my 2 o'clock shift! I got out at 11:10 pm and went over to Mark's apartment after work!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 18th, 2013

This morning I got up at 12 pm. HALLELUJAH. It was grand. I had some chicken nuggets for lunch, got ready for work, and headed over for my 3 o’clock shift.

My shift ended at 11:30 pm. I came home and pretty much just chilled out in my apartment until I fell asleep. Yay yay yay.

March 19, 2013 - Tony's Town Square

I woke up around 9 am today for some reason. So I spent some time writing trip report updates. I was still two weeks behind because of the big spring break trip, but I was hoping to be caught up soon!

At 1 pm we had our hospitality class. Then around 5:30 pm, I went over to Marks apartment. Mark, Sergio, Russell, and I were going to Magic Kingdom! We had dinner reservations at Tony's and I was so excited!

We arrived in Magic Kingdom and had a little over an hour before our reservation. So we went to Adventureland and I got a citrus swirl to tide me over. IT WAS MY FIRST ONE EVER!!!!

I also finally got my little orange bird cup! I crucial part of any Disney fan's collection!

dsc1176a.jpg

dsc1177x.jpg

We went to Frontierland and got Thunder Mountain fastpasses! We mourned over the fact that we had to wait one more day for Splash Mountain. However, there was a really beautiful sunset tonight so I took some pictures:

dsc1178u.jpg

dsc1179u.jpg

dsc1180h.jpg

Then we took the train over to Fantasyland! We got off and went in the gift shop. I did a little bit of pin trading from the popcorn pin holders.

Then we went to Tony's Town Square and checked in! We had a bit of a wait but we were finally brought in the back room to be seated.

dsc1181dv.jpg

Our waiters name was Daniel and he was from a town very close to Mark and my homes!

I ordered some Pezzi Parmesan Bread for an appetizer. It was very tasty! I was super happy. We also got dinner rolls that were very fresh and delicious. The boys were happy.

dsc1183o.jpg

For my dinner I FINALLY got my spaghetti and meatballs. PRAISE JESUS AND THANK GOD FOR SPAGHETTI. I had been craving it for so long. Those meatballs were GOOD.

dsc1186k.jpg

I posted on twitter:
I'm all about the carbs tonight. #bringiton

Mark and Russell both got the Chicken Parmesan! You cant go wrong with that! That's usually my choice here at Tony's and I know that its delicious!

dsc1185q.jpg

Then Sergio got the Mushroom Ravioli, which he gave a big ol' thumbs up! He said it was great!

dsc1184go.jpg

For dessert, Russell and I split a Strawberry Cheesecake! Mark also got one of his own. It was REALLY good! Wow, I loved it. It was such a light cheesecake and I loved the chunks of strawberries in it. It actually had a really great flavor too. I was super happy about it!

dsc1187o.jpg

The Main Street Electrical Parade was going on throughout dinner. We said goodbye to Daniel once we settled the bill, and we headed out to dodge the parade crowds. We had to get to Frontierland!

We passed by Splash Mountain and it was STILL closed. But its supposed to open up tomorrow!!

We got to Thunder Mountain and used our fastpasses to ride!

Then we headed back across the park to Tomorrowland. I had to use the restroom so obviously I WANTED TO GO TO THE TANGLED BATHROOM!!!!!

dsc1190ow.jpg

Anyways, then it was over to Space Mountain for one last ride of the night! It was lots of fun and I got to sit in the front! We posed like our favorite Disney characters in the picture! I was Belle, Mark was Peter Pan, (SEIZE THE MOMENT!) and Sergio was the Genie.

dsc1192.jpg

Russell was just a frump.

dsc1193zoz.jpg

We went back to Main Street and caught the 10:35 pm showing of Celebrate the Magic. MY FAVORITE SHOW!!!

dsc1198rf.jpg

On the way out of the park, I had to stop in the Confectionery because I was craving something sweet. I got a milk chocolate s'mores bar that I remembered seeing on disboards a while ago. AH IT WAS SO GOOD.

dsc1199s.jpg

dsc1200h.jpg

dsc1201e.jpg

I traded for a 2013 Pluto pin on my way out, and then we went to go catch the monorail. We took the resort monorail to the TTC and then we had to wait for 3 trams until we could be brought to the Scar parking lot.

We got back to the apartments and just crashed. What a day!

Mac and cheese with goldfish?! I'm definitely going to have to try that! It sounds so cheesy and delicious!

Sweet potato fries are SO good! I never even thought to dip them in honey - they're so tasty on their own!

I can't believe you guys made it from Illuminations to Space Mountain before closing! If there was ever a good reason to run, Space Mountain is definitely it!

Aww! Mr. and Mrs. Bunny are so cute!

I agree with you on the sauce at Tony's. My favorite part is the Lady & the Tramp chocolate design on the dessert plates!

You need to start keeping track of how many times you ride Space Mountain on your DCP! I'm betting that by August, you'll be over 100 times! :thumbsup2

Wow, your entire family will be there for your birthday, that is so awesome! It's so nice that they will (hopefully!) be able to be there :) And staying CL at the Boardwalk is icing on the (red velvet cup-)cake :)

Just loving your TR. With all of your first hand knowledge of the parks and restaurants, your Concierge guests will be so lucky to have your help! It really looks like you are fully enjoying your CP experience.:cool1:

I'm so glad they decided to add the food booths to the F&G Festival this year. Can't wait to try everything when we're there next month! Thanks for sharing :)

The tangled area looks amazing! I wanna go back to Florida

Jess- how far away is your apartment from MK and EPCOT ? DD is planning on applying her senior year for DCP and really enjoying your recaps! I think you are about the same age. She is heading to London for the Fall semester!

"SingingMom" ....Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

All I can say is... wow! Have read a number of your past reports through my time lurking, and have been following this one as you go. I've definitely been impressed with your enthusiasm and great positive attitude. I can only imagine how happy and proud being able to fulfill this dream must make you. With all the excitement, stimuli, training, classes, work... I find it amazing that you are still so dedicated to passing on your experiences to those of us here on the boards. That in itself speaks very highly of your character. I wish you the best of luck and many happy memories during your time there. Hopefully it will turn into something even more wonderful down the road.
