Maybe I'm having a brain freeze but don't remember any discussions over the DC points being even higher for 2002 than 2003. I know we had the same discussion about DCL.

I think there was a mini-discussion but not the uproar the DCL changes brought. Maybe we're still worn out from last year's DC increases.

I am sooooooo disgusted with this whole DC/DCL point issue. The Enormous increase last year should have outraged every DVC member. This year, we are now used to (and expect) HUGE increases in both the DC and DCL, so no one bats an eye. It seems the only way to do a reasonable exchange is to rent your points out yourself and pay cash. DVC uses these exchanges as an enticement/sales pitch. In fact, the DVC info book we got didn't show the DVC resorts on the cover, it shows the cruise, skiers, parks, golfers, etc.

While I would almost exclusively stay at DVC resorts, I would like a reasonable exchange in order to occasionally stay at the Poly or AKL. BTW, why are the weekend points more to stay using the DC, The cash rate is the same weekday or weekend. Stick it to the DVCers.........OUCH!!!!! Seems like a big ploy to get you to pay cash.

Is the Disney Collection the exchange option for other Disney destinations?

If so, it seems that the point prices should stay pretty steady from year to year. Even though the price of Disney resorts is going up on average, the DVC resorts value should be going up at roughly the same rate.

Perhaps it's related to the lower occupancy over the last year or so.

Or, maybe its due to the fact that there are more and more 'home away from home' options available to the cash guest so that they have more trouble getting top dollar for traded points.

Hopefully, it's not just DVC cutting back on options and benefits...

It is clearly a deduction in benefits. They have sold out OKW, BWV, and VWL. They say HH and VB are close to being sold out and BCV is setting records and it isn't even completed. They do not need to cater to us DVC owners. They don't need these incentives to get people to purchase into DVC.

It is absurd and obscene that they increase the prices of both DC and DCL so much. You are better renting your points if you want to use these options.

What are we going to do, sell our ownership? They don't care, there will always be somebody waiting to purchase our points.

Yet another reason to keep my DC membership. I can get great discounts through DC for the Disney resorts. Especially Disneyland - they are all but giving that away lately.

We have 3 dd's, so for us staying at another resort really isn't an option. DH and I stayed at The Dolphin a couple years ago with a convention - never again! Should have used points and stayed in a studio at BWV, or payed cash.
