Disney Coasters - How intense?

Sure, that's probably true. But the way I interpreted OP question was rating WDW coasters within their own group, and not against the most intense coasters in the country.

Sorry, I am guilty of reading only the topic in this case and not the whole post. As much as we love Disney we unfortunately find our selves defending it from those who don't understand why we go as much as we do. One of the big things we always hear is that the rides just are not that good. We all have our reasons for enjoying it as much as we do so I guess I was just saying okay the thrill rides are not the same as other places but the overall experience is what makes it great , not just the thrill rides.

Yeah, I too misunderstood the post based on the title question at first. But when I read the full thing I realized what the OP was after was rather different than the title.

Believe me, I hear you. I can't tell you how many times when I tell people that we enjoy WDW they say "Gee, isn't that a kiddie park"? Sigh....

My answer when they ask that should be "Why yes, yes it is a kiddie park. You probably wouldn't like it so go to Universal instead." Maybe that'll help keep the crowd level low. :D

I don't ride big coasters in other parks-think Cedar Point, Universal Orlando, Six Flags...but I ride everything at Disney World! I even hold my hands up on EE!:thumbsup2

I haven't been on SDD yet, 5½ weeks and I'll tell you all about it but to me most intense to least is RnR, EE, SM, BTM, PW, 7DMT and Barnstormer coming in last for intensity. But .... We actually have the most "Fun" on Barnstormer and 7DMT because my girls have so much fun on those which makes me have fun.

ooops so embarassaed when saw the Title i assumed a coaster you used for your glass and had to look to see what was meant about these coasters being intense.

Try steel vengeance at cedar point. It's fun! ;)
No thanks!:scared1:
I'm afraid of heights and the slow click, click, click going up!:hourglass
I can do loops, corkscrews and turns, but not the incline! EE goes up so fast I don't notice it as much!:teleport:

Personally, I find the front of the train on Space Mountain to be one of the most intense coaster's I've ever ridden. A much different experience than if you're farther back. I love roller coasters but I'm never doing the front of the train on there again. LOL

OK then do millenium force. The lift hill is faster than space mountain on the actual fast parts and no loud clicks! (it's only 308 feet to the top... About 52% higher than the tallest structural point of expedition everest or the tower of terror. :rotfl2:)

It's all in your head because it's dark. It's not even 30mph at it's top speed. It's really just a carnival ride with the lights off, but the effect works!

Ugh, cannot wait to ride this. I miss being able to drive up there for the weekend when I lived in VA. Not so easy from TX now.

I would rank EE as more intense than RnR. I feel like it is more intense for a longer duration of the ride. Though launches and loops don't bother me in the slightest and I just find EE more fun so that may sway my decision. After that I would say Space, PW, BTMR, SDMT, Barnstormer. Haven't tried Slinky yet.

I often wonder, is there an adult that does like PW? Other than your local chiropractor who gets lots of new patients from those who ride it, LOL

I love it! The part where you start spinning and going over the small bumps, that is my favorite! I always come off with a bruise or two, but no big deal.

It's so incredibly subjective. You could argue that Primeval is a wild mouse ride and not a roller coaster. Generally speaking I'd say, from least to most

Barnstormer
7DMT
Slinky
BTMRR
Primeval
Space
Everest
RnR

I like your list for the general public thought process .... although I would totally kick Primeval out as I don't count it as a coaster, more like a whip on a track. I don't even ride it anymore as I'd rather stay aligned the rest of my trip. I don't get the forward motion that I want from a coaster.

Was very pleasantly surprised that Slinky Dog was so much better than it looked. Heights that felt like heights (no theme around it to hide the drops - and I hate heights), speed, many hard banks and some force more than Space or BTMRR. I would likely think twice if my young ones weren't ready for a coaster-coaster.

While I don't think Space is intense from a physical standpoint, being in dark, toss about and not knowing how close tracks are AND having ridden twice with lights on (more terrifying) .............. I would say this is the one that instills fear of death the most.

Put me on front seat of RnR and I'd likely be able to go for quite some time, maybe even nap .... it's so relaxing to me .... but that is not norm coaster ranking ..... so the dark and upside down is likely a top intense for most.

if you talk to the true coaster enthusiasts that there is nothing at WDW that would even crack their top 20. Not slamming Disney at all but by comparison their coasters are relatively tame.

This.

My first WDW trip was when I was 19. I loved coasters, and had really only been to places with bigger coasters like six flags, universal once, and even Dollywood. I was literally bored on my first day at Disney riding the magic kingdom coasters. I quickly fell in love with Disney for its charm and theming, but all of these coasters are tame... though I do love them now at 31.

Haven't been on Slinky yet, but I'd say RnR and Everest are the most intense, and I like Everest better than RnR. If RnR was a bit longer it would win out I think. I wish Disney would add something like Hulk--that ride is awesome!

That would be a definite no! I would have a heart attack on the way up!
