Disney Club question

I have decided I wanted to join the Disney Club at the last minute. They told me at the Disney club 800 # I would not receive my membership card for 2-3 weeks. We will be at Disney in 1 1/2wks. I asked if we could print out our e-mail confirmation of membership with the membership number on it and use that as proof of membership for tickets, at restaurants and Disney stores to recieve our discount, and they told me they were not sure if the vendors would except anything but the actual membership card itself. Anyone know any thing about this or tried it before.

I just joined DC last month and my card came in about l0 days.

Befor my card came, I took my confimration printout to the disney store to buy a pass and was told no discount without card.
