Disney Club being replaced!

I know I'm not going to be one getting a new Disney Visa card. I don't like the idea at all.

The only people this is better for is the Disney executives. Everyone else is left behind. I can't wait until I can get badgered everytime I buy something at TDS to apply for a Disney Visa. (where is that puking smiley when you really need him ;) )

Will I only have to spend $39.95 to be able to get a discount at a resort? Yeah, right.

The Disney Visa application will go in the shredder with all of the other credit card applications recieved in this house. We have a couple of major cards. We pay cash or do without it. We don't participate in any of the credit card "rewards" programs. Somebody is paying for those rewards & I doubt it's the credit card company.

What do you think will happen to the Disney Credit Card?

Since when is Disney in the credit card business????
This is awful!!! The only good thing about the Disney Club was the Disney Magazine, otherwise it was useless to us. I liked the MKC much better.
Those accountants are really running the show

So, if I already have a Visa debit/credit card through my bank, can I still get this Disney Visa card? Arrgghhh. This is upsetting.

Yes, you can still get the Disney Visa card even if you have another Visa card. It is a reward credit card like all the other reward cards out there. You have to apply for it, and I understand that you will earn points toward hotel stays, cruises, and merchandise credit. Details are rather sketchy right now. And don't expect to be "badgered" to apply for the credit card every time you shop at TDS. You're not badgered now. The applications are displayed for those guests who want to pick them up.

If you are upset, contact the Disney Club. The adress has been posted in several threads on these boards.

It will be interesting to see what "wonderful" interest rate will be attached to this great deal!

I would consider a card... but can't imagine it would be possible given that I am in Canada.

I guess this is the end of discounts for anyone that is not a U.S. citizen. I guess Disney isn't too concerned about international guests. *sighs*

Any others from outside the U.S. feeling a little like chopped liver about now?

"Raymond Locke, of Saddlebrook, N.J., has headed the local Disney Club for 15 years at United Parcel Service, where he works as a clerk.

"I'm disappointed," said Locke, 47, 'It was one of the only ways that the general public could get any type of discounts or benefits from the company. As little as they were, they were at least something.'"

"As little as they were..." I LOVE that! The hospital I worked for supposedly had discounts for WDW. Any time I contacted Human Resources I was either told they were out of them, check back, or got the runaround. In 8 years there, I never did get anything from them!

Oh yes, and with the new credit card, I'm sure they'll be very likely (cough, cough) to approve an unemployed student. I'm glad I didn't renew my Disney Club.

I'm looking forward to the new card. I never did the Disney Club. I don't want to pay $30 or $40 to get discounts when I can get them for free. I just went to WDW two weeks ago and saved close to $200 for a 6-night stay just by knowing about codes and where to buy tickets.

I currently use a Discover card for most purchases and pay the balance each month. No annual fee and I get a check from them for $80 - $100 each year. If I can now use a Disney VISA card and get points toward discounts, GREAT!!!! More free discounts.

I'm gonna miss the toll free number.

If you spend a lot of time on the phone with Disney, reservations, PS's and stuff, you can rack up some charges!:(

I lost my enthusiasm for the DC about a month ago. I went to the nearest Disney Store (about an hour away) and bought a 4 Day PH for our December with a discount from the DC. Then I went a few weeks later to but the other 3 passes.....you guessed it...no discounts. But no one ever informaed us about it!!!

Everytime I hear something like this it makes me realize more and more how smart we were to but into DVC!!!
