Me :tigger: (Pam), Hubby, :stitch: (Mark) and my 2 adorable Poms :dogdance: (Taz and Max) head to WDW and the Grand Floridian for Christmas!!:santa:

Day 1 December 21-Friday evening/nite

We head off to WDW in our car :drive: with our 2 furbabies..only a 6 hr drive to Orlando. We had to stay in Kissimmee at the Motel 6 for the night because we werent checking in to the GF until Saturday morning! SO that was all fine with me:thumbsup2 ...until......:scared1:

We get to Motel 6 late that night about 9pm, and we were kinda tired, our boys were getting irritable being in the car that long, we were hungry and ready to get some sleep. We walk in and the beds were made, but one had some rumpling in it..no biggie to me...didnt feel like complaining....so we get some luggage outta the car and walk the boys (Taz and Max). Mark goes to Chick Fil A for some grubb, popcorn:: we eat. Ok...smooth sailing. Went to shower....turned hot water on...felt good!!! :woohoo: I got in the shower....IT WAS FREEZING!!!!!! I hurry up and bathe, since im already wet, get out and tell Mark to be prepared to wait and let the water heater heat back up...that musta been it:scratchin !! So he did and uh, well, the same thing happened!! FREEZING COLD SHOWER!! By that time, we were in our night clothes, and just said we would brush it off...didnt wanna say anything cause we didnt want to have to move to another room....hassle!:upsidedow

Ok...now Mark has to use the bathroom...he did...(nothing bad!!) and the toilet doesnt FLUSH!!! :scared: Oh gosh...so we just were laughing by then saying...I hope this isnt karma for an awful Disney Christmas!!! :confused3 Luckily, it WASNT!!

Day 2--First day at GF-Saturday!!:woohoo:

I get up like 4am Bama time, ready to go!! :moped: We had to take Taz and Max to the TTC Kennel first to put them in THEIR resortpluto: ! We got there (after I was giddy with excitement from seeing the WDW resort sign!) and a CM was checking us in. Well...she was complaining because she had to work alone that day....and she was tired of hearing the dogs bark. Alritey then...my first encounter with a WDW CM and she was ranting and raving about the sun, and the moon and the whole free world:crazy: ....I just looked down at my boys and thought..."boys...keep your barking to a minimum"!!!:lmao: We got them settled in and after I teared up a bit:guilty: (you have to understand....I dont have kids, so Taz and Max ARE MY KIDS.) So are my cats :cat: Pixie and Tinkerbell...but they were at home!

So, at 7:35am, we were on our way to check in the GF....nervous :worried: about the view I booked....did I get it or not??!!!??:confused3

MORE TOMORROW!!!!! --- GRAND FLORIDIAN!!!!

Great start...we are planning a trip next Christmas so I'm interested in hearing all about your trip!! Oh yeah "Hey" from a fellow Alabamian!!

DAY 2-GRAND FLORIDIAN ARRIVAL!!:cloud9:

Ok...so we enter the GF. Now, we stayed there in February and I knew what to expect...but as far as the Decorations...(only have seen them once many years ago really quick)..they WERE SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!! As we pulled up and the Bellman was getting our luggage, I had such a great feeling that I was in a wonderland! :wizard: So we enter the lobby and I saw that big ol pretty tree smack dab in the middle of the lobby I almost wanted to just run and scream in my delight!! :woohoo: We made our way to the check in counter...not very busy at 8:00 am I might add and started checking in! So by this time I am really nervous about the MK view I have been pinching every penny for since May to pay for, and was just bejiggity to find out what it was!!:scared: I told the nice CM that I read that Conch was the best and if I could possibly have that building, but she said it was full, and that I would be totally pleased with our Sago Cay room..that it was more spacious and newly renovated. Well, I already knew that :rolleyes1 cause of the DIS and the resort board!:disrocks: So ok...well, me and Mark are locksmiths and we saw some old keys behind the desk and we asked what they were for...she told us the old GF room keys before they changed to cards...so we were like, oh, ok...she asked us if we wanted one for a momento and we said YEA!!! So we got TWO! How sweet was that! They even have the GF logo on them! (That is one of our quirks...when and where ever we go somewhere we have to investigate locks, keys, etc...we gotta stay up on all the new locksmith techno stuff!!! )
Ok...anyway..so check in time isnt until 3pm, and we were quite early...the anticipation of the room had to linger ALLLLLL DAY!:stir: We walked around the lobby, looking at the tree, the wreaths, and the best smelling house this side of the mississippi-the GF Gingerbread house!:tinker: After about 25 pics, we are off to the Magic Kingdom--My home away from home!!:cheer2:

Crowds were light that Saturday...not extremely light, but manageable. We did a few rides, ate at Peco's Bills..did ton of shopping! And just took in some sights and sounds and smells of the best place on earth!!!:lovestruc

OK...on with the moral of DAY 2---THE VIEW FROM OUT ROOM! Let me set it up for you...the first time we went to WDW I told Mark that one day, I would stay in the GF with a view of the castle, EVEN IF IT WAS THE LAST THING I DID!!!:snooty: And all of our trips, I have dreamed of doing so. Yes, I am fortunate to be at WDW as many times as we have been, and I am very thankful, but I just had to stay in a GF MK view room at least one time!!!!!

We check to see if our room is ready and it is!!! So we head to Sago and I am so excited it is unreal!! We open our door and I walk in and head straight to the balcony! OH MY GOSH..............there it is.. :cheer2: pixiedust: party: .the view I have been waiting for since my first trip in 1995!!!!! There she was....the castle in all her glory (tiny from my balcony!), but there nonetheless!!! We could hear the music, the HM houling dogs, the train....It was just the PERFECT view! And it was worth every penny I saved and sacrificed for!! :cloud9:

The room was just as pretty...beige walls, Mickey lamp, flat screen TV, big ol king bed with yellow floral and TINKERBELL comforter!! It had the vaulted ceiling that made the room look super huge...and it was all BRAND SPANKING NEW! new paint, carpet, fixtures...oh it was just my DREAM COME TRUE!!!:tink:
We unpack and I set up our 3ft xmas tree...our other decorations, and decide to hit another park!! Ahhh....!

DAY 3---TOMORROW WITH PICS!!

That was a great update...I never knew that you could hear all of the sounds of MK from rooms at the GF...that's my dream resort!! We'll stay there some day but it will be a while.

Hello fellow cruiser!

Are you going this June?

Andrea

Hey Andrea!! So as not to hijack BamaTigger's thread I'll PM with our plans for the year.

By the way to all who are reading this Andrea's family and my family shared a Wishes cruise in June...it was absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend it especially when it is shared with a fellow Diser!!

Oh Wow!! So glad you got such a wonderful room. Can't wait to see pics, pics and more pics!:)

The rest of Day 2

Ok..so we do the night MK park thing-OMG—the castle with the wintery ice lights were just the best thing in the world! :worship: That was the PRETTIEST I have ever seen that castle! It looked like a huge icey winter christmas Wonderland! …after staring at it in awe Mark forced me to leave and we went and ate some junk food—YUM!popcorn:: Then we did some major damage to our wallet by shopping up a storm! We stood in Main Street waiting for Holiday Wishes and low and behold, the FOG moved in!! So we could hear the loud booms and crackling, but couldnt see the fireworks! By that time, we hit the Emporium again (we love that store) and mosied on out of the parks. We had to go walk our boys!!:dogdance:
And I was ready to get back to the room to see if we got the nightly turn down service and any towel animals! And I had a surprise for Mark in the room that I was ready for him to get! oh, and um…I was ready to see the nightly view (yes, folks, Im kinda nuts over the view…can ya tell) from the balcony!!!:wizard:
We walk in the room and our bed was turned down with my stuffed Pooh, pooh: Eeyore,:eeyore: and Tigger :tigger: laying on the pillows, and the lights were on low with our tiny christmas tree :santa: on and it was so cozy! Marks basket of Pirate goodiespirate: were already there with a basket slam full of POC items (he loves POC)….calendar, key rings, playing cards, mug, travel mug, book, etc.

OK..ENOUGH OF THAT..ON TO THE GOOD STUFF—THE NIGHTLY VIEW!:worship:
I open the curtains and the door and I walk out giddy :woohoo: as can be to see the wintery icey castle from my private view…and what do I see???
FOG.:upsidedow
Yep folks…I forgot that the fog came in and messed up Wishes, and It didnt dawn on me that it would mess up my view! So after I sat there a while and WILLED the fog to go away :lmao: so I could see my castle, it just didnt want to lift! HHHmm…ok..I still have 3 more nights to go…I will survive!
So I drag my tired soul inside and take a shower then hit the sack. I was sooooo tired!:faint:
And I want ya’ll to know when I hit that big ol king size bed, THAT WAS THE BEST NIGHTS SLEEP I have had since April! (my beloved dad passed away in April and I havent slept good since:sad1: ). But my dad knew how much I love WDW and I just know in my heart he was with me and thats why I slept so soundly!! He is my angel!

DAY 3---THINGS START GETTING HECTIC!!!

Hello!! Im in the southeast....where you at Liz???

We are just south of B'ham...too far from WDW :rotfl:

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. In March it will be 5 years since my dad passed away so I know exactly what you are going though.:grouphug:
