Disney charges for Magic Bands now?

When did Disney start charging for MBs? I recycled at Disney a boat load of them on my last trip because we didn’t need them, and now I’m kicking myself!

Can’t recall exactly when, but sometime last year Disney announced that they were stopping free MagicBands for stays 1/1/2021+.

With a package, they are offered starting at $5. I have a future trip planned and it's on MDE to purchase.

You don’t have to buy a package - it’s on MDE to purchase and we didn’t purchase a package ?
