My DD is 4...going on 16. For example, on our vacation over Spring Break (at Disney) it was time to leave the playground to get showered and ready for dinner and in the most dramatic way she told me that I was "ruining her life". Where do they get this stuff?!
At the same time, she believes in the Easter Bunny, and Santa (she asked DH to build us a chimney before christmas, but we settled on just leaving the door unlocked), and loves to visit with and hug on certain characters at Disney (especially Chip & Dale and Stitch). She thinks the princesses really live in the castle. We haven't even made it to the tooth fairy yet, but there's no doubt she will believe in that too. Or does she?
Do you ever think little ones around this age just pretend they believe. Or they believe for us, the parents? I personally don't remember REALLY believing in these thinsg myself...but it was fun to go along with believing...still is even in adulthood. Where do your kids stand?
