disney character question - just wondering

do any guests come ot the park dressed like characters? I mean people non employed by disney?

children can wear costumes as long as it doesn't inhibit safety. adults are only allowed to dress up during parties (at least MNSSH and P&PP)

there have been cases in the past at the parks where adults (not attempting to be disney characters) have been removed from property. Santa is the most recent, but Disneyland once had Abraham Lincoln.

although cast members aren't guests, it is true all cast members wear costumes (what most might call uniforms). they don't pay anyone to dress up as Disney characters though. it'd be pointless since they already have the real thing.

You can wear a costume as an adult for MNSSHP. I have done Cinderella and Snow White and I will be Tinkerbell this year.

On Wednesday of this week (3/18/09) I saw 4 young adults (late teens/early twenties) walking into Epcot. There was Peter Pan (in tights ), Tinkerbelle, Jasmine and Aladdin. I thought for sure security would have said something to them but I saw Tinkerbelle and Peter Pan later in the day walking into The Land.

where there's a will, there's a way... i know of a certain professed arieloholic that has a history of that sort of thing. guests will smuggle in clothing in a bag and change inside the park and there's not too much that can be done. they're dealt with, rest assured, but short of having them removed by the sheriff's department for trespass, there's not much that can be done to prevent it.

I'm sure the policy is to ensure that any characters that kids might see are authentic Disney ones who adhere to the Disney "way". The true characters are in character the whole time they are in the public. They actually have a specific point out of view which is their cue to be in character. These points are plenty out of public view, usually through a door AND around a corner or 2, just in case. You definately don't want the image spoiled for a little kid.
