We were there for the first day of taping. I had gotten an email the week before we left in April about the filming of the DC Games, not a lot of information. It just said seating was first come first serve (no times) and that taping was April 25-27. So we thought we would take our kids, DS's 13 and 12 as a surprise at the end of our trip. The day before, I stopped at the Concierge desk at our resort, Boardwalk Villas, to get details about the time etc. They didn't know anything about it but made some phone calls and told us taping was from 9am to 8pm April 25th. We got there at about 8:25 and were told by the guard at the gate that taping would begin at 11am and they would start letting us in the stadium at about 10:30. We were about 15 people back in line and luckily it was shaded. While waiting in line Madison Pettis and Ashley Tisdale walked by us into the AllStar Sports Cafe for interviews.
Lots of people went in ahead of us with green, blue, red and yellow wristbands. My DH went and asked about them and was told they were paid extras. When they let us in we were able to sit in the same section as the extras, right behind the desk area where Arwin and Mr. Moseby were announcing. Several times we were instructed by the director to cheer.
Later only the extras with wristbands were allowed down onto the field to stand along the fences by each game. We watched from the stands.
The games we saw taped that day were Rock, Paper, Scissors
the Obstacle Course
and the Dunk Tank.
There were lots of opportunities to get pictures of the stars
Many of them stopped to give autographs and get pictures taken with the kids. My boys each got about 15 autographs.
It was the highlight of our trip in April!!
