I am planning to go to Disney World in February of 2011. My uncle has several friends who work at Disney Resorts. I was just wondering if they would be able to get discounts on packages. I would want a dining plan with my package. Is this possible? Is there any other important information that might be relevant to disney cast member discounts. All the information I found was from 2004-2006.

I read this same post on the Budget thread and would agree with the reply you got there. Disney CM's can get discounts for friends/family up to a certain amount of times per year. This discount is for a room only, and rarely can the dining plan be added. As Cheshire Figment mentioned, it would not be often that a CM that doesn't know you personally would be willing to extend this discount. CM's are responsible for their "guests" actions and while I don't think anyone would intend to be grumpy or ill-mannered, this includes discussing a CM discount, complaining about your room or location, having a complaint at the parks, etc. The discount you can get on your own is likely nearly as good anyway w/o your uncle asking someone who is a stranger to you to offer you one of their perks.---Kathy

Just so you know, the CM friends/family discount is usually only 40%. So it really is no better than some of the discounts Disney out right now for the general public.

You might want to ask the person that you would be using to get the discount.

I agree with the others that Disney has been offering such great discounts that there really is no need to ask a CM to get a discount for you.

I have several really close friends who work at Disney and the past two years I did better by myself than they would have been able to do. One of friends' pet peeves is people constantly asking them for Disney discounts and freebies. My one friend says that people who are friends of friends have come out of the woodwork since he started working for Disney. If you don't know the person really well yourself, I personally wouldn't ask.
