Has anyone ever had that happen before? It was booked on 9/7 at 5:30 and due to something going on they cancelled. Now everything at MK for that time is taken. Not sure what to do..has anyone just NOT re-booked and ADR and walked up? Just wondered.

I believe it was canceled for Night of Joy. I think they canceled a bunch of reservations like this last year, as well. MK will close at 7pm that night, If you really want a reservation at MK, just keep checking the dining site several times a day to see if something opens up. If you can wait a bit and dine elsewhere, you can enjoy MK until closing and then get a meal afterwards. Good luck!

If that is Night of Joy, there is a rumor they are actually closing at 5PM to sweep the parks and set up. Someone had a CRT reservation canceled for 9/8. Night of Joy is both nights, so that would seem to strengthen the rumor. If that is so, then there would be NO reservations for that night at any MK location.

I had heard that rumor and double checked the TA calendar prior to posting. Still shows a 7pm closure, but as with anything Disney, it is always "subject to change".:rotfl:

Yea, but seeing more then one report from more then one restaurant makes it a bit suspicious. THAT is what makes it interesting!

If they did cancel, you might want to check to see if you could get in at one of the monorail resort restaurants. If it is NOJ, then they will "close" the park early so they can have the special event.

Whew! I was worried. Last night I finally got in for 5/31 that I've been trying to get for a week or so!!! I'm glad they didn't give me YOUR reservation! :rotfl:

Okay, so I know this is NOT a scientific study, but I played around on the Disney site.

9/6 Magic Kingdom Party of 4 Dinner- Plenty of availability from 4:00-9:00 or so. Multiple options in the 5-7 hour at multiple restaurants.

9/7 Magic Kingdom Parties of 4 or 2 Dinner- NOTHING after 4:30 for either party size.

9/8 Magic Kingdom Parties of 4 or 2 Dinner- NOTHING after 4:30 for either party size.

9/9 Magic Kingdom Party of 4 Dinner- Plenty of availability from 4:00-9:00 or so. Multiple options in the 5-7 hours at multiple restaurants.

Like I said, not a full study but just a random sample. However, it DOES look like on 9/7 and 9/8 that no Magic Kingdom locations have reservations available after 4:30 or 5:00. Veeeeeeeery interesting!

Maybe this is a sign that you shouldnt eat at Tony's. :rotfl2:

No offense to others, but that place makes me gag!

Hello Everyone,

Thank you all for your posts. So...yes, it will be NOJ and what a bummer IF they close the park at 5 that night with it being our last night at disney and MK. Then again...maybe meant to be? So it will give us time to get back to the room and pack for the am flight. But then again...IF they announce the park closing early and they have been calling everyone over the past few days to cancel ressies after 5 pm...THEN everything I kept seeing at monorail resorts would be taken. Guess I need to make decisions and make then fast!!!

Looks like they are cancelling everything in MK after 5pm. I got a call from Disney Reservations cancelling my 5:15 at Crystal Palace. She did make a ressie for me at Kona for that night. She said they were making the calls to everyone with reservations inside MK during that time because of Night of Joy. Hubby is NOT happy :(

4:30 for the last ADR slot makes sense. Gives you time to sit down, look at the menu, order, eat, and get out of Dodge before the event starts at 7.

They've know for ages that this weekend is NOJ, can't they program the dining computers for an event more than 180 days out to save the headache of cancelling people's ADRs? On a similar note, last year I had booked Dine With an Imagineer at HBD and was called about 60 days ahead to cancel it because it was Memorial Day and "they don't ask CMs to volunteer for those events on a holiday". I had ASKED that when I booked, not like they don't know when holidays or special events are!

We booked at Kona too!!! I was thinking of doing the monorail but it was suggested to me on another thread to take the boat. So I think we will do that....make our last night there a little different!!

I second the motion about blocking such events from even being booked at 180 days out. I mean, they then have to take the time to call and cancel everyone's ressies, then deal with upset folks looking for something TO book (like myself)...I dunno.....:sad2: you would just think they would make life easy on everyone and just block it so we can then decide if we wanted to do that park on that day or not. Oh well....:confused3

Lucky you. We have eaten there twice thinking the first bad experience was a fluke, but the second time around it was equally bad, if not worse. The food was kinda OK (warm, not hot), but the service was AWFUL. We have no plans on making this mistake a 3rd time. Congrats on the cancellation as that's the best thing they could have done with your ADR for that place.:stir:
