Disney...by Land and Sea...Morris Style!

Have you ever done something where you worked so hard on it that you were almost proud? You struggled so hard to get every word just right. You spent way too much time searching for just the right word. Just before adding the final elements, you scroll up to make sure you had all the info they had sent you and all your ducks were in a row.

Then. Disaster. Strikes. You forget you are on the NEW laptop. The one that has a touch screen. And you accidentally press. The. Send button!!!!!

Never mind that you did not include your name or phone number. You never got to proof read it!

That old saying about only getting one chance for a first impression? Yup. Pretty much screwed that one up!

I really do like my new laptop. It is much faster than the old one. But the touch screen takes a bit of getting used to. It has one of those detachable keyboards. And I sometimes have just a tad bit of trouble keeping my fingers off the screen.

Sigh. I guess I can safely write off that client!

I got a confirmation in my business email today that my Paid in Full date is coming up soon for the cruise portion of the trip!

So...I of course pull it up to check on it and I did not add Travel Insurance to it! How could I have let that go? Anyway, especially after the fiasco with my January cruise, I called and added that.

I have transferred the money from the savings to the checking account and will make the final payment tomorrow! I can hardly wait!

Now I am waiting on the military discounts to be announced. If they are what I am expecting, it will save us a bit of money...and I will give up the Free Dining portion of the trip. But I like to have the bird in hand type thing before I cancel the current reservation...

Nini

I HATE WAITING!

I feel like the time is dragging by!

Yesterday was our "Dalmatian Day " We had 101 days until our trip begins...tomorrow we will plan a dinner out
and a Disney movie...not sure what yet.

Yesterday evening (or more like night, it was 8pm but still very light outside) my luggage was delivered! So excited! It was not my first choice, but I was not driving the 2 hours to Augusta to get it, but it was a close second. They are beautiful red and I plan on putting a Mickey Head on them...just not sure how yet!

Then, today, I called Disney Dining to add a gluten allergy to all our reservations. It was actually pretty painless and easy, the call took less than 2 minutes to complete. While it is not an actual allergy, more of an intolerance, there wasn't a place to put that, so we went with allergy. I am now looking forward to eating at Disney!

And the slacker that I am...I still have not paid off the cruise yet. The money is sitting there, but I am somewhat hesitant to pull the plug! Once I do I know I will feel much better about the whole trip...but it is really hard for some odd reason.

And the whole issue of POR vs AKL is getting worse instead of better! Still have to wait for the military rates to come through to know if AKL is still in my grasp... but I have put a deposit down on the AKL room... I currently have both a POR Royal Room as well as an AKL Bunk bed Savanna Rom. I actually have about 40 days to finally make up my mind, but hopefully the military rates will be released soon...of Course...DISNEY really needs to release the 2015 rates before that can happen! LOL!

Last night Miss Mia came over for a visit and brought her parents. She is walking up a storm now! It was funny...as soon as they got her out of the car she started barking... she loves to play with all kinds of animals! She was hilarious! She has such a sense of humor. She would get down to the dogs and 'meow' at them and then giggle...I am not sure what the joke was but she thought it was outrageous. She would giggle so much she would practically stop breathing. Then she would do it all over again!

She was chasing Miss B all around the living room...and then when she 'caught' her she would growl and run the opposite direction...her version of tag I guess.

If my house had been clean I would have snapped a couple pictures of all that cuteness... but I guess that will have to wait until her mommy and daddy decide to go away for the weekend... Son I hope!

Well, that is it from the boring house of Morris today.... Taking some marketing classes, so I guess I better get back into the learning mode and stop goofing off! LOL

Nini

Yup...yesterday was our 99 day mark! We had originally planned on going to a Disney movie and then out to dinner. Then Miss Mia's parents invited Miss B and Mr D to go with them to camp for an evening. My Son in Law's church is hosting at a Christian Camp and he was in charge of the evening activities. So the kids were going to just hang out and have fun. Since Husband was off last night, we decided to have a date night.

Then yesterday morning, My daughter called to let me know that Son in Law had a meeting at work yesterday, so it was changed to Friday evening... so we had to change our plans.

Since husband had to work yesterday at his part time job, we got a late start, and did not make it to a movie, but had a nice diner at the kids favorite...Steak N Shake. Now, I have no idea why, but they always equate SNS with Disney! I guess because while we wait for our food we always talk about Disney.

Some how, since everyone was in a good mood, I managed to get Miss B to agree to matching t shirts again for this trip...of course I have NOT started them and I have 40 ish to do!

Guess I had better get started!

Nini

Today (or rather this afternoon) I am alone. The kids have gone to camp with their big sister, and husband is working. So tonight it is e and the doggies.

I went out to the pool and was doing a bit of cleaning...Mr Max and the two girls were out with me, and were just running around the back yard.

All of a sudden, Mr Max stood completely still with both of his ears standing straight up! For those who don't know, he is a strange German Shepherd...one of his ears is floppy and won't stand up...makes him look a bit cute, but not very German Shepherd like.

Anyway, he took off like a bolt to the back of the yard. We have a heavily wooded area inside the fence in one of the back corners of our lot. He disappeared back there and I figured he was chasing a squirrel. Then I heard the most horrible growl. Sounded more like a wolf than a dog! I heard some one scream and then HEAVY, FAST running through the woods!

I called for Mr Max, (figuring I would have to pull hm off someone's leg...or worse, he would come back with someone's leg in his mouth!) To my surprise, he came right away. Since I wasn't sure if the person had actually run very far...I told him ...very loudly...Good Boy, did you get him?

Well, he barked a few times and I repeated that he was a good boy...came in and gave him a biscuit.

I'm pretty sure it was just a teen using the road behind us as a cut through to the store...but for a few minutes all three of us...Me, Mr Max and the unknown person...all got a bit of an elevated heart beat!

Nini

Trying to get the hotel for prior to the cruise all set up and my brain is hurting!

I've got to get this narrowed down and reserved before all the availability is gone! (as has happened with the one I really wanted!) Trying to get something that will make everyone happy is not as easy as I thought!

The ones that let you park at the hotel while cruising seem to be convenient, but the extra cost is only worth it if you are staying only one night...other wise it becomes more expensive to stay there as opposed to somewhere else.

Add to that the fact that I really want to do Kennedy Space Center while we are there, and no one else does makes it a bit more of a problem!

Guess I had better get back to the grindstone!

Nini

Nini,

You're a planning dervish! We had a wonderful trip to Aulani in February and then I went to Disneyland solo in June (my sons both live in CA), and now I'm kind of Disneyed out for a bit. I didn't think I'd ever say that, maybe there's too much going on on the home (mother) front.

So, I haven't been dising, haven't been sewing, and haven't been embroidering until now. My younger son wants me to make a couple shirts for him. I bought the logo and since Stitch Era Universal no longer exists I'm finally getting around to Embird. You're my Embird expert. Gee it seems complicated to download. Am I missing something or am I just old and computer non-savy?

Do you remember it being hard to download and get going? Obviously since the project is for my son I want to do it, but it sure ain't cooperating.

Thoughts?

Thankis!

Long time no see!

I was just wondering about you the other day!

Um...Embird... let's see, I never had any problems uploading (or is it downloading) whichever...on my old computer. Now that I got this new fangled one with touch screen and all, well it was a bit difficult.

Mainly because I had to upgrade to the newer version before it would work on the new computer. The password for the new version was in an email...and the email was on the old computer... and somehow my mind could not accept the fact that all I had to do was to open the email in the new computer! (I know...sad isn't it!)

But truthfully, I haven't had time to even walk into the studio in several months...in fact, I only used embird once or twice since I got the new computer. I have all but closed my shop, since the state of GA and I are still fighting over back taxes, that they agree I don't really owe, but want me to pay the interest and penalties on!

Today is therapy day...but I will try and look at the embird tomorrow and see if I can remember anything about the download of it...do you have a specific question... maybe I can find an answer for you..

Not only is it therapy day, but Kids Eat Free at Chili's for diner tonight and the second night of VBS... So I figure I should have about 20 minutes of time somewhere during the day to actually call my own!

Nini

I have very fond memories of teaching VBS. Hope the week is going well for the kids and teachers.

I feel your pain about taxes. I guess that's what keeping me from pursuing etsy. I have sold some stuff on ebay this year (courtesy of my mother's attic, basement, closets, garage . . .) and I know New York and Uncle Sam are going to want a piece of the action.

Don't spend any more time thinking about Embird. Knowing it didn't scar you for life answers my question, it's me not the program. Maybe tomorrow I'll clear my gray matter and give it another go.

In honor of Andrea, a little more hijacking.

Before I strain my brain any more, maybe if I tell you what I want to do with Embird you can tell me if it's possible.

My son asked me to do a logo and name on two shirts. I had the logo digitized and now he wants to make an adjustment.

For example, the logo is currently
MICKEY & MINNIE
and it is currently 1/2" tall.

On Embird can I change it to
MICKEY
& MINNIE

and make it 3/4" tall?

Well, here is my third time attempting to respond. This keyboard on my new computer is driving me crazy!

I went into Embird this morning. I have a wedding gift to do today.(for my daughter's old boyfriend. They parted best of friends, in fact he introduced her to her husband!) Anyway, as I was doing it I tried to remember if I had any trouble downloading to the new computer.

The only real problem I had was that the older version I had would not work on my new fancy computer, so I had to upgrade. So on old laptop I have older version, on my new one I have a newer version. It downloaded pretty easy, The only real problem I had was that something went wrong with my computer and we had to completely reset the PC. Redownloading it was not the issue, just trying to remember where I put the password was my problem. Once I remembered it was in an email the rest was easy peasy.

Hope you get it figured our easy.

Yes....and no.

You can change the size a bit. But if you try to change it too much it will not stitch out very good. Also, remember you can only change the size ONE time (well actually you can do it more...but the system will tell you that you can't!) So what I do is to change the size, save it under a different name ... stitch out a sample to see how it works...then redo if necessary.

There are some other things you can do with the pull ratio and stitch something or other.... but I truthfully don't know much about it and have no idea how to make it work! I use the trial and error method... but I only do it for fonts...rarely a whole design...cause I am chicken like that! LOL

I am so beyond excited! Disney just announced the new 2015 rates will be released on the 30th. This means I can plan my February business trip!

I am paying my daughter to go with me and help me keep up with my notes and pictures!

I think she will make a great assistant!

Seriously - I go to the lake for a week...

I cannot believe Mia is 14 months already! Sheesh! Where does the time go?

Yay for 101 days and 99 days and any other days I missed. :woohoo:

Did you pay off the cruise portion yet?

I hate to say I am happy about your gluten intolerance, but I am. Finally some relief for you my friend! I continue to pray that this is all it is and has ever been, and you can live life happily and pain free with a few minor deductions from your diet. :)

I've done that before - sent things with out proof reading... I think I do it every morning. LOL Hopefully they understand.

Good job Mr. Max... Your sounds like he is much more protective than mine... My MM will cuddle you to death. Sigh. But he is big - so that counts for something, and he likes to hug...

Have fun with VBS... I think the girls start next week... V is a helper this year. :thumbsup2

Have a great Disney Day Nini!!! You are the BEST!~

Well, this February trip is becoming more of an issue than I thought it would... At the same time the announcement came from Disney that the rates for packages will be released on the 30th, came the crowd projections for Feb... I knew that we are out of school a week later than normal, but somehow I forgot about the fact that that week is President's Day, Madri Gras and ends with the Princess Marathon!

Crowd levels are through the roof! The whole plan was to go while school was out so that husband would not have an issue with Mr D and that Miss B would not miss school. The week before (when we are normally out) is crowd levels of 2! That week they are more like 8! What a difference a week makes!

Now I am back to the drawing board...

Guess I need to go back and read... Cheryl is here! Hi Cheryl!

Yes, Cheryl was here... but not really sure if she still is...She is like a fog that floats on the water...never here for long but you miss her when she is gone! LOL!

Miss Mia was so late in crawling and walking...I was starting to get worried. She has been walking for a little over 2 weeks, and is now hopping! Literally! They have been trying to get a video of it for the pas t week, but whenever she sees the camera she stops! She says "Boing" when she hops....

Another word or two on Miss Mia...she is potty training...herself. With all the tummy issues she has had, she already knows the feeling when she starts to go (which is the hardest thing to get a child to realize in the beginning!) And already was getting a diaper for Mommy before she went...so they casually asked her if she wanted to get on the potty...she said yes, and the rest is history! Of course it only works at home.

I shouldn't be surprised, because her mommy was completely potty trained at 13 months...so I guess she is a bit of a slacker in that regards! LOL!

I still have not paid off the cruise yet...now it is just a point of procrastination. no real reason, I guess I am going to wait until the last hour to get it done. Hopefully I will remember to get it done today!

I wish Mr Max would only cuddle people to death...sometimes! Well he would to family and people he knows...but if a cat, ot a stranger comes up to the house, he goes ballistic. He is very VERY protective! I have sidelights on my front door...you know those long skinny windows on each side of the door? He sits there looking out of them all day...if a cat or a person walks past the house, he goes crazy. When I was touching up the paint in the entry way ... I noticed that the glass is almost clawed out of the wall. All of the trim on the right side of the door needs to be taken out and replaced. It is a little scary to think there is so little actually holding that window in!! I want to replace them both with a stained glass type of window, so maybe then he won't be able to see out and will be a bit better of a neighbor!

A funny thing about my diet... I cannot eat rice. Never have been able to ....but I really love rice. So I have started eating Wild Rice. I LOVE it , but it takes so long to cook. Last night I made me some wild rice to go with my tuna and apples (don't knock it unless you have tried it, and even then don't tell me...it reminds me of my grand mother!) any way I have to let it simmer for at least 45 minutes. I have let it simmer for up to 2 hours before and it was still perfect...well we went to VBS last night and it was not finished and I forgot to turn it off. Husband just came home and asked me if it had been cooking all night...YUP! My favorite small sauce pan is now burnt to a crisp!

The grand Princess has really been enjoying her time at VBS. She really has missed her friends at church. Her mommy and daddy won't go any more and she finds getting up early to go too much trouble so ...

She has really gotten so tall! When she is with a group of kids it is so hard to pick her out from a distance. There are at least 5 tall skinny long haired blondes in her class! It seems they all plan what the are going to wear the next night...because they are all wearing the same color! Last night they all wore cowboy boots! It is so cute! (she wears uniforms to school, so not a lot of time for individuality...although I guess if all of them are wearing the same thing -like cowboy boots- there isn't a lot of individuality there either ! ) LOL!

On today's agenda is..... not a lot!

I really want to get the pool nice and clear again. We have a bit of a cloudy pool today...so I need to mess with the ph levels a bit. We haven't actually been in the pool for the past week. I am ready for a nice swim...or rather a soak, since I can't actually swim....

Have a nice day!

Nini

I traditionally go in February and it's not only the crowds but the non-Sunshiney State weather --- it can be durn cold!

Can I use that for my obituary? So far all I've been able to think of is "likes clouds and spaghetti, doesn't like eggs or avacados". I think adding something about fog would help people remember me.

Cheryl!

I don't know where to start! LOL!

I really needed a good laugh, and you gave it to me! You are going to HAVE to stick around! Things are too boring here without you!

But I have to say, this past February we were at Disney and had no need to worry about being cold! We were there the week before Valentines day, we were in the pool each day...while Atlanta was in the grips of its second ice storm in 2 weeks! It was wonderful. We almost had to stay an extra day because the ice was still bad at home. (as it turned out, they had us down for an extra day so we could have....but I am pretty sure that Disney would have realized they didn't charge us for the extra day.

And that, my friends, was a shameless picture of my youngest grand child. Her first set of Mickey Ears. She has a stuffed Minnie Mouse that her loving and adoring grand mother bought her on one of her many trips to Disney...she calls her Mim Mouse...of course, Mickey also shares the same name.

Last night we were all together for birthday celebrations, and while playing in her cousin's room discovered the Mickey Ears. I am surprised the Grand Princess shared, but the next thing I knew Miss Mia was running down the hall yelling Mim Mouse, Mim Mouse, wearing the special Animal Kingdom ears.

We all tried for about a half hour to get an actual video of her saying it...but she was too smart for us! She waited until no camera was in front of her to say it again!

Yesterday was a long long long day! I had to leave the house at 6am to go into Atlanta for a class. It rained almost all the way there, then when it was time to come home at 5, it started storming! So of course I was late to the Birthday party for my middle son and husband. Middle son is 32 and husband will be 60 on Tuesday.

But I did have a great time and managed to complete all three tests today online after church. And best of all I have a new dream vacation destination! Tahiti! (with a bit of Bora Bora thrown in for fun!) Hopefully next year I will find a way to get there!

Truthfully, if I had not already paid for the Disney cruise this October I would have booked one for Tahiti!

Now, I will leave you all with thoughts of a Pacific Island Paradise running through your minds, while I go grab some laundry to get done.....

Nini

Loved the picture of Mia with her ears on... And Mim Mouse... So CUTE!

Mmmm... Tahiti and Bora Bora...
