Dean has pushed the ROFR envelope more than anyone here.... so he can tell you how low Disney will go............I do belive that the 58 dollar mark is above the ROFR.......
As for where to purchase (from Disney vs Resale) It is very important that you think about where you want to stay for the next 39 ish years.... and buy there.
OKW resales are for the most part the cheapest to get.... and there is a lot more of them floating around..... so deals can be had. VWL, just sold out via Disney so there are not as many resales for it out there....
Resale price per point has a lot of factors that should be taken into consideration...... You can have two identical resales (same# points same UY same resort) but one is selling for 65 pp the other 69 per point.... Chances are the 69 pp has banked points, with no points in holding, where the 65 pp contract may not have any points for the current UY.... And along that note, a resale for 58, may not have this years points and none next years points as well.
If you decide to do the resale route, I suggest calling a couple of brokers (we have used Jaki at atimeshare.com and getting on the waiting list.... you tell them how many points, what resort, what UY and what you are willing to pay, if banked and borrowed points are an issue, mention that too. I am a firm beliver that most really sweet resales contracts NEVER make it to the brokers Websites.....................
