Are Disney buffets good? We are NOT a buffet-liking family...Golden Corral, Ponderosa, Ryan's, Old Country Buffet...yuck, yuck, yuck. However, we will be going this fall during free dining with me, DH, DD (4), and DS (1). DS will be allowed to eat for free at the buffets. Given he amazing appetite for table foods at 7 months...I'm thinking he is going to need more food than just "share with sister" for plated meals. All that to say, we were looking at several buffets for that reason. Several would be character breakfasts...those I'm less worried about...hard to mess up breakfast food.

So long post to ask...for lunch/dinner is the food at a Disney buffet better than your typical buffet? Any buffets recommended higher than others? We have 8 days of Basic DDP to fill.

We had dined at almost every single buffet at WDW and the breakfast ones like CP, Cape May, Chef M, Boma...they are excellent! For dinner Beirgarten and Cape May are awesome! 1900 PF, Chef M and H&V were just horrible with bad service and inedible food.

First of all, I must admit that we are buffet people so I may be a bit bias, but WE LOVE THE WDW BUFFETS! I do not think that they are anything like Ponderosa and the like. There are wide selections and the desserts are wonderful! Our favorites are Biergarten and the Crystal Palace, but we have had nearly all of them and have never been disappointed.

We ate lunch at Crystal Palace and dinner at Boma in February. We were actually pretty surprised with the buffet selections at CP, it was very good and we would definately eat there again.

Boma is just plain amazing! The food is so good, and it's really not your average buffet. I'm sure we will not visit WDW without a meal at Boma for a long, long time!

We don't go to buffet restaurants at home, but we do at Disney. CP is really good for dinner & Tuskerhaus has a great breakfast (so does Askerhaus.)

Oh, those buffets are not the same as Disney, thank goodness!:goodvibes DH always jokes that I'd never eat at a Golden Corral!:lmao:

I love the ones at Disney! Let's see...our favorites were Chef Mickey breakfast, Tusker House lunch, Crystal Palace breakfast and lunch, Hollywood and Vine breakfast, and 1900 Park Fare breakfast and dinner.:thumbsup2 There's a lot of variety at Disney buffets and my kids absolutely loved being able to pick out so many different things! Definitely better than your average buffet! :goodvibes

We typically dont eat buffets at home either. WDW buffets are head and shoulders above GC, Ponderosa, etc.

Biergarten for dinner and Boma for breakfast or dinner are both unique.
Chef Mickeys for breakfast. Crystal Palace for breakfast or dinner.

Cape May if you like seafood, but they have landlubber foods too.

Same here, the only buffet type place we do at home is sunday brunch at our favorite place on the shore. High end buffet for sure :thumbsup2

I will do some buffets at Disney :)

Cape May
Crystal Palace
Boma

are my favs. we don't have kids and we stay away certain buffets for that reason :)

We don't do Chef Mickeys or Hollywod & Vine

If you have little ones, I would recomend that you give them a try, The character ones are great since the kids get to see the characters without waiting in a hot long line!

Let us know how you like them when you get back :thumbsup2

We only do buffets for our character meals (we do not have DDP option as we are offsite) more bang for the buck! ;)

We love CM, but more for the characters as bkfst is pretty standard fare, good but not exciting. Love seeing Minnie and Mickey, that is really why we go back!

Hollywood and Vine character lunch, food was fabulous, steak, fish, perfect for all of us, even my middle dd, who is very picky. Desserts were awesome, and the characters stopped by several times, we did a late lunch.

We really loved GF Cinderella and friends (back in 2005) but haven't been back since, so don't know if it has changed much. They had ice cream bar and great food for the kids. DH loved the prime rib and I LOVED the salmon and salads. :goodvibes

We love the buffets at WDW. We enjoy them all. Love Biergarten, Chef Mickey's, Hollywood & Vine, 1900 Park Fare and Crystal Palace. Food is way above Golden Corral, Ryan's, etc. plus you get to meet many of the characters.

I grew up in Vegas where there are tons of buffets - Most Disney buffets are excellent. There is such variety and it's not the Vegas kind. We like them. All those that you listed - I wouldn't be caught dead at.

I understand what you mean. I hate buffets at home however Disney is different. I will admit you are paying more than the food is worth but they are not like the home buffets. A big plus is my teen son can eat as much as he wants and my daughter can eat whatever she wants. Sometimes she will like to eat a lot of one food so that does not work well at a resturant but for a buffet it works very well. Dessert is included so that off sets the price a bit. The theming is good too.

Disney buffets are not as good as say The Buffet at the Bellogio but they are head and shoulders above Home Town Buffet, Golden Corral, etc.

For dinner buffets we like Biergarten and 1900 Park Faire (I know some don't like this one but we think its great - the food is different than most buffets).

Another option for you might be family style meals like Ohana, Garden Grill, and Liberty Tree Tavern. At these meals they bring the food on platers to your table and everyone helps themselves. Your baby would be allowed to eat free just like at a buffet and the food is all you care to eat.
