Hi Everyone!

My fiance is having problems with his epilepsy and so we wont be able to make it to our site inspection. We're going to have to pick out our intimate wedding location without making any visits. I've been looking at all of the pictures on the wedding picture post to get some ideas as to where we might like to have our wedding but I still can't decide.

So far my favorite is the wedding pavilion, but my fiance favors the Boardwalk location. Our wedding will be on January 3rd, 2006. We really want this date since it is the only day my mom can make it.

Basically my questions are:

Do we have to let Disney know what location we want when we call 12 months in advance to save our date?

Is it worth the extra $700 to have the wedding at the pavilion?

Will I need to budget extra money to decorate any of the locations we choose?

What are some advantages of having an outdoor wedding? Where do they move you if it rains?

Also, would my dad be able to video tape the wedding? Or do we have to use a proffessional?

If any of ya'll could send me links to some of your weddings at different locations I would really appreciate it! I am especially interested in pictures from the Boardwalk, the pavilion, Sunset Pointe, and the Wilderness Lodge weddings. But any pictures would be great!

Thanks everyone!

Ashley

Do you plan on using the Cinderella carriage? If so, it can only go to a couple locations, the Wedding Pavilion being one of them. I wanted the carriage and Sunset Pointe, but nope. Anyway, so I had the Wedding Pavilion and wouldn't change it!! I loved it there. I didn't decorate it and had an intimate wedding, I thought it still looked beautiful. We never did any site inspections, we just went for it. The first time I saw the Pavilion was the day I got married, as I was walking down the aisle. To me it was worth the extra money as they have an organ player there as well.

HTH.

one thing to consider when choosing a wedding location for early january is if you're outside it could be cool/cold depending on your preferred time. i personally like an outdoor location for its ambiance and spirtualism to me. check out the new disney weddings page for pictures and yourfairytale.com for pictures and details. hope everything works out for you and your h2b, best wishes.

I'm sorry to hear that you have to cancel your trip, I hope you fiance is feeling better soon.

DH2B and I are having an intimate wedding and have never seen any of the locations in person. We also won't be able to take a planning session trip so we chose our location solely based on photographs.

Originally, we were going to get married here at DL at the Grand Californian. We decided on WDW instead because they offer the intimate package and we were already planning to honeymoon there. So, our first choice was Wilderness Lodge because the view is breath taking from what we've seen and we liked how WL has a similar ambiance to the GCH. Then I saw more pictures and decided that I didn't like the reception area connected to the ceremony location. It just didn't have a romantic feel from what I saw, as there is red trim all over the room and pictures of Indians on the walls. Not that there's anything wrong with that if you like that decor, just not what I want for our wedding.

Our second choice was Sunset Point. It looks pretty from all of the pictures I've seen and I like that you can see Cinderella's Castle off in the distance. Then when I thought about it, I didn't really want a tropical theme going on with our wedding.

Our third choice was the Wedding Pavilion. DH2B really liked it, more than I did actually. Then we saw pictures of intimate weddings that were held there and we didn't like how empty it looked, it just felt sort of cold to us.

Our fourth (and final  ) choice was Sea Breeze Point. As soon as we finally saw pictures of SBP that did it justice (special thanks to Firefly Girl for having her pics posted!), we both fell in love with it. There was no need to look any further. We like things that have an old-fashioned charm and this just fits "us" perfectly! I'm ashamed to say it wasn't my first choice. :p

I am sure that no matter which location you decide on, it will be beautiful! As all of the wedding photographs I have seen posted here are beautiful, it's just that my personal preferences may differ from others.

That sounds great! Do you have any pictures that you can send?

Thanks,

i will help you answer some if not all of your questions.

1)Do we have to let Disney know what location we want when we call 12 months in advance to save our date? you do have to call Disney a year to the day that you want your wedding to be held. From there on, they will ask you for location and tell you what is available and what times of the day.

2)Is it worth the extra $700 to have the wedding at the pavilion? personally, i think having your wedding at the pavilion is definitely worth the extra $700 because of the location, the view from the lagoon and seeing the castle in the window, and also to answer another question that you have, Will I need to budget extra money to decorate any of the locations we choose?, the pavilion doesn't need to be decorated at all. we didn't decorate it at all and it's still beautiful.

3)What are some advantages of having an outdoor wedding? Where do they move you if it rains? i can't really answer the first one because my wedding took place in the pavilion but i'm sure there are some advantages to having an outdoor wedding. if by some chance that it rains on your wedding day, your wedding will be moved to indoors to the location of your choice, whatever is available at the time.

4)Also,would my dad be able to video tape the wedding? Or do we have to use a proffessional? anyone can video tape the wedding. there is no rule saying that you can't use a home video camera to tape a wedding. you can use a professional if you like but that's all up to you. if you do decide to use a professional, disney does do a wonderful job. i'm in love with my wedding video and am thrilled that we went with them.

i hope this helped you out. good luck and congratulations!!

We loved Sunset Point. My mother really wanted us to get married at the WP, but after seeing our picture she agreed I made the right choice. It did rain on our wedding day before and after the ceremony, so we had the cake cutting inside. All of our pic are in the picture post. Good luck w/ your wedding.
