There was a London evening paper shown on ITV's evening news show with this heading. Anyone know what this is about?

Yes, Disney have announced they will no longer be putting their brand and well-known characters on McDonald's boxes, etc, and that their theme park food will focus on lower fat and healthier options in future, including more fruit and fewer burgers, etc. There WILL still be the usual fare, but it will be less obvious on the menus. Here is a link to today's Orlando sentinel story:

I've heard about the new kids menu which is causing a storm on the boards, good idea but I don't think my DD is going to eat anything now. Also heard about the ban on trans-fats, so a step in the right direction. Wouldn't it be nice to not think about calories on holiday for once. Still I'd like to see them try and take the calorie content out of the Kitchen Sink :teeth:

This is causing a lot of concern over on the main community board!! In fact, it has nearly become the only topic being discussed!!

That would be good ;)

I welcome healthy eating however I don't feel the menu is providing adequate meals, These seem like a selection of snacks to me, and want wrong with an Ice cream on holiday for dessert.

Pita Pizza - with diced chicken and mozzarella cheese, served with shredded vegetable salad and brown-sugar apples $7.49

Just Dip It - assorted fruits, vegetables, chicken salad and yogurt $7.49

Chicken Strips - served with barbecue sauce, sweet potato sticks, green beans, carrots and yogurt parfait $7.49

i agree it does seem very basic :confused3 still 10mths till we go things may well have changed again before then :rotfl:

I do think that the pita pizza and the dip it thing are overpriced!. Although I think they should put an effort into getting healthier options it will cause a drop in their business if people think they can't get burgers etc.

If they just stopped adding stupid side dishes like crackers and crisps with sandwiches and a tub of heavily sugared apple sauce with practically every childs dish you order (why not just give a darn apple?) they would cut a huge amount of unnecessary calories.
Healthy eating IS possible in WDW but there silly combinations and lack of availability of things like jacket potatoes and simple pasta dishes for take out make it very difficult.
