Has anyone had their child audition for Disney while down there on vacation? Either set up through an agent or not? I am wondering if there are opportunities in Orlando, not just in CA. Any and all info would be appreciated! princess:

Disney does have occasional open calls for child talent in the area. Most of the opportunities in this area are for commercials. They don't do film or TV auditions in this area. If you do get selected by Disney you will be asked to sign a life-time buyout contract. That means that you will not be able to work on anything for Disney again after the one production. You will get paid once. Most of the time, pay for commercials here with Disney runs from $300 to $600. Disney does not like to use talent in more than one commercial because they want the people in their commercials to appear real. If you were to see the same actor in more than one thing, it would take away from their realism goal.

To be very honest with you, acting opportunities in Florida right now are not good.

Great information- thank you so much! What about modeling shoots? Do there seem to be more of those available? princess:

If you are really interested in getting your child involved in modeling or acting, start doing some intense research. There are a lot of very good message boards about modeling and acting for kids. You will need an agent. Be very careful of who you pick. If they ask for money up front, they are not a legit agent. While taking classes is not a bad idea, having to do so to be represented is a major red flag. Run!

If you are interested, here is a link to a website my daughter put together to help others starting out www.freewebs.com/youngactortoactor.

Finally, now is just a bad time to be getting into anything. The industry is very down at this time in Florida and many other parts of the country.

Wow, that's interesting. I don't have any idea about it, but if there's something like acting, I let kids audition for that. :lmao:

My DD6 has been with an agency here in Milwaukee since she was 6 months, but they most likely won't be able to line up any work for her in Orlando. I was wondering if Disney ever holds any open casting calls for modeling and such. Otherwise, is there an address where I could send her composites? That might be the only option I have.

Thanks so much for your information!! princess:
