okay guys.....need some help.....it's the annual "I refuse to grocery shop the week before vaca" crisis...I have 3# of boneless chicken in the fridge for dinner...what shall I make??????

crock pot chicken & minute rice...............????

chicken w/cr of mush soup & chicken broth cooked on low all day.........minute rice mixed in at the last minute(doing so will break the chicken up into bite sized pieces too), Dylan's favorite meal!!!

I had a catch up to do.

Steph, cut the chicken into strips, coat in bread crumbs, and bake on a greased cookie sheet. Instant chick fingers. I put spices into the bread crumbs and everyone likes them.

On the food note, I like fried okra and I like lima beans. What I can NOT tolerate is beets.LK, Leah's shirt sounds neat and I am sure Logan is having a blast. If there was a problem, you would hear about it.

I was watching the ball game last night and rooting for the Red Sox.

...oh no! How could I forget the "B" word??!?!?!?! YUK!!!

Hey, did anyone catch Clay on Jay Leno last night?

Re: vegetables..... If it isn't corn or green beans, it usually isn't found at my house!

Kimmar - i saw that Clay was on, but my eyes wouldn't stay open.

Carol - how could i forget beets too. Yuck.

Steph - if you don't have anything in the fridge, do what i do - order a pizza or go out to eat!!!!!!!!!!

Lars - i will have to try that recipe out. sounds yummy.

E - i haven't done a darn thing at work either. too busy catching up DISing!:D

I told my DH to get me the Clay CD for my b'day. Hope he was listening.

I love Carol's idea for chicken strips!! I do that all the time! Turns out great and adding herbs and spices is good too! I could come over and help you eat some too ;)

Hi Kimmar! Nope, didn't watch Leno last night. Missed the fun I guess.

LOL LK, corn is mainstay here for us. Green beans aren't well received I guess.

Lorriane, I have managed to get some stuff done, but unfortnately a lot of my processes are still frozen :(

Conference call then out to find a CD or two :hyper:

I think we're going to try the crock pot chicken....We do the chicken strips that way too...except we use crushed up corn flakes (a WW recipe if I recal....)

Veggies in my house...hmmmmm....corn, green beans, "normal" salad stuff, and beets..the kids LOVE beets!

Steph, I've heard that with corn flakes for chicken strips too... I think they come out crunchier that way (if I remember right)

Got my Clay CD, but couldn't find the Holiday one... no big, I'm happy with this!

Hi everyone.

I'm upset today. We heard that a dear family friend had an aneurism, I guess yesterday. The details aren't clear yet. I know he's had two surgeries and he has "a lot of obstacles to overcome". I posted about this on it's own thread, so I won't go on and on here. Just thought I'd ask for prayers for Bill and his DW Ann.

Mom wants me to check out flights to Kansas City. I think she'll either drive or fly up to be with them. Her brother also lives in Kansas City, so she can stay with them and just be there to support Ann.

I went to the dentist today to pick up my new retainer. I wore one years ago after my braces, but stopped wearing it at night when it broke. Lately, I've been waking up with my tongue pushing against my teeth and the teeth seem to be moving, so my friend the dentist suggested going back to a retainer. I thought I'd just be wearing it at night, but for now she wants me to wear it all the time. She put the wires on the front tight, so they'll push back on my front teeth. I can't speak clearly and I feel like a teenager. LOL! I can't wait to show my kids. And it looks like a slice of watermelon! They can do cool designs now. My old one was just pink, but they gave me a whole slew of designs to choose from this time.

Our family likes just about any veggie. I can't think of one that I don't like. I like beets better if they are pickled, I'm not too fond of winter squash, and I don't like rhubarb (but is that a vegetable or a fruit?). We eat okra (the kids prefer it fried), spinach, cabbage, beets, peas, you name it we probably eat it.

These recipes sound yummy. You guys are making me hungry.

Sorry the weather doesn't look too promising for Logan. When do they get back home?

Leah's shirt sounds great! My kids have done the bleach/water on a bright shirt trick several times at camp and they turn out nice. I think the trick is to not get it on your clothes and to wash it before too much time goes by. You can also do tie-dye that way. Rubber band the shirt and then take it outside and spray it down. Just don't remove the rubber bands before you wash it so the lines stay clear.

I may have to look for the holiday CD. Is that going to have tracks with several of the finalists or what? I love Christmas music. I start playing it around Thanksgiving. I'd do it earlier if DH wouldn't throw a fit. ;)

David called from school and he's feeling worse, so I took him some medicine. He didn't want to come home since he has a test this afternoon. At least he has the rest of the week to recover. He only has marching band and swimming the next three days.

Off to search for airline tickets. I'll check back later.

Hello A&A! Just killing time, I hate this 3:15 interview time. Oh well, it could be worse, no interview at all.

In my house, we (between DH, me and DS when he is here, like now) eat just about every veggie. Pete loves then all, untill he lived with me, he dodn't know veggies came fresh and frozen. MIL is the queen of bad cooking, and all her veggies are canned. YUK! The only canned veggies I eat is corn. And while I won't eat cauliflower, beets, brussel sprouts, and lima beans, DH does, so I make them for him. And chicken is either cooked outside on the gas grill or inside on the George Foreman, no breading for us. But both those recipies sound yummy.

Merry, good thoughts for your friend, that is so scary. And I love the retainer design. I remember that well, It's only been 10 years since I had my braces off.

E! New music is always good. THe last CD I bought was POTC soundtrack. I am not much into anything else. Never heard any AI singers, so I have to take your word that this kid is good.

LK - I think you will be surprised when Logan gets home, being away overnight is a very maturing experience at that age. I hope the weather holds out for the rest of the time. I see that there is talk of a Pittsburgh meet, how fun will that be? Take pictures!!! The shirt thing sounded fun, too. We never did anything like that when I was in GS.

Carol, UMass could be fun, but UMd would be cheaper. Either way, it's nice that you can provide her a college education at a school she wants to go to, rather than only in state. Maybe there will be scholorship money, too.

Who did I miss, Kimmar, rooting for the Yankees? Not me, I want those Red Sox to win.

Hi Gail! :wave2:

Hi CS :wave2:

Last call for Angel exchange, names go out tomorrow late my time. If you want to get in on it, let me know.

Our friend didn't make it. :( Mom is flying up there tonight, I think. We can't go until Allen gets back from Orlando. And here David is getting sick. Yikes!

Melissa, I am so sorry to hear that he didn't survive. My sympathies.

Melissa, I am so sorry to hear that your friend did not make it. I know that you have deep faith, and I hope that will help you through the next few weeks. Remember the good times, and the sad times will ease.

Oh Melissa, I'm so sorry to hear that........I wish there was something I could do to help your family.

(((((hugs)))))

I'm okay. Sad, but okay. I really believe that it was probably for the best. I now know that when they took him to the hospital, he had no use of his legs and was blind. Just boom. One minute he didn't feel well and the next it had ruptured. It's amazing that he lived as long as he did.

I'm hurting for the family. Mom thinks she'll fly up tonight. My uncle can pick her up at the airport and she can go stay with Ann. That'll be good for both of them. Mom's been in her shoes and they are like sisters. I'm just relieved that she isn't going to drive up there alone.

Prayers for your friend, his family and your family, Melissa. Aneurisms are impossible, and I doubt he really had much of a chance. SO sorry.
