A friend of Matt's since second grade will be featured on the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon this coming weekend. Shane and Matt met as Cub Scouts and now they also go to the same school. He has Becker Muscular Dystrophy and was diagnosed about 5 years ago. He's still able to get around unassisted most of the time but he received a scooter from our local MDA and that's been wonderful for him.

Last year a local TV station did a feature on him that attracted the attention of the national organization. This morning Shane, his sister, and his mom and dad are flying to Los Angeles and will appear on the national broadcast. They've been told they'll be appearing live 2 times - the 3rd hour, which would be approx. 11-12 PM Sunday, and the 19th hour, approx. 3-4 PM Monday (Eastern time)

If anyone happens to be watching, keep an eye out for the Bourque family from RI!

100% chance of rain today, tomorrow and Sunday. We sure needed it. It's dark and gloomy too. It may keep us from going to a baseball game though. We had promised David we would go to a Redhawks game. They are our local farm team. Just don't know if I want to sit through a wet baseball game and a wet football game in one weekend.

Diane the house is stunning! I can't wait until we get to see finished pictures.

Had to take David to school today so I could use his car. Mine is still being fixed. It should be ready later today. I'm looking forward to having it back. It's been in the body shop since the 12th, I believe.

Wow. I'll have to try to remember to tune in the telethon and look for Matt's friend. That's really cool.

Good morning everyone

My kids have off school today also. They are still in bed.

Lorraine, so sad about your DH's cousin. It always makes me ill to hear about a policeman or firefighter killed while doing their job.

Gail, anything to embarass the kids.

My trip with DS, DD and her boyfriend tomorrow is a little iffy right now. The main reason we were going was to take Jason to the ocean with us. He spent last evening in the ER with a dislocated shoulder. He did it while teaching karate. This boy has more injuries than anyone I know. He has had at least 2 surgeries to repair things since DD has been dating him the last 18 months. He had already had both shoulders repaired. He was supposed to teat for his third degree black belt in 2 weeks so this is not a good time for an injury. If he can't test, which looks to be the case, he will have to wait until March. He is a hard working young man and I feel bad for him.

Even if the kids have off, I have to go to work. See you all later.

Good Morning All!
My kids have today off too Matthew is still sleeping, Dylan's watching cartoons & Meg went up north with her friend's family for the weekend.
I have to run a ew errands today & I'm hoping to get them done fairly early so that I don't run into a traffic problem later on......My house is between the big city & the place most Michiganders go for holiday weekends...Up North...so the traffic'll get crazy later this afternoon.

I ALWAYS watch the telethon faithfully each year...I'll keep an eye out!!! (bwt ~ I know how a diagnosis can be really life-altering...my DH just told me that my nephew was diagnosed with beginning symptoms of Turrets, and he's only 14! I am soo upset; my DBro-in-L's fam has gone thru' SOOOO much already!)

Have a great weekend everyone, Patrick has convinced me to let a friend sleep over tonight (am I crazy?????? at least I know where they are, right?) DH is doing scout training tomorrow, and I think I may need to teach a portion of it....other than that, a quiet weekend here I hope.
DH is heading off on Wednesday for the NWC race in VA., then it's race weekend again in NH........then I'm waiting for Laura to invite me to her house for the Michigan race...bawhahaahaha
(yeah, I know....)

Oh yeah!!!! Brooks & Dunn on Sunday!!!!!! Guess I DO have plans for the weekend. I'm going to try to convince Neil we should go out for dinner at one of my favorite italian places before the concert.......that will probably end up being a tailgate party.....oh well!

...a tail-gate sounds awesome! At least you aren't gonna have the KILLER weekend that I know I'll have!! DH just left for upstate NY till Monday with his brother to put up the walls and roof on the cabin they are building. (he left my 3 DS's home with me -- UGH!! --)

The county just north of us is year round school and they started on Aug. 4

Our county started on Aug 11

My daughter is going to one of the private schools that started later than everyone else - Aug 19

So all the younguns around here are well in the swing of things!

Kimmar, so sorry to hear about your nephew's diagnosis. It is hard enough being 14, let alone having to deal with this now. Please keep us updated on his condition. Will they be treating this with medication?
