I'm sure all of you know that Disney and Pixar have been making movies for a really long time together. Well i just read a newspaper article that, Disney has officially bought Pixar for $7.4 billion in stock. Just thought you all might like to, know. I thought it was interesting...

thats awsome cause it means that good movies will still be made. some of disneys best movies came from pixar.

Actually Disney just distributed the Pixar films. Disney got a nice cut of the profits and the rights to create sequels. Even better news that I just heard was John Lasseter has haulted production on Toy Story 3, which was just being created by Disney and not Pixar. Thank goodness, because that movie would of been horrible. lol

I really wish Disney would stick with animation. Animation is what brought Disney all those profits in the beginning. And besides, if you've seen Hayao Miyazaki's films, you can see the animation is much better than computer animation. So much more thought goes into animated films.

[/endrant]

You can sort of blame Eisner for shutting down 2D animation. Since he closed down the Florida unit, but with John Lasseter, who is said to be the closest thing to Walt Disney, at the helm of animation we have great things in store.

I think that if Disney's smart they'll make another animated fairy tale/princess movie. Not another sequel, a brand new one. Lately the whole Disney princess thing has become really popular and they should cash in on it while they can. I mean the last movie they got a princess out of was Aladdin (I think..) and that was in the early 90's.

Very good news! My favorite Disney movies are Pixar! :cool1:

The only reason Disney bought Pixar is because they know that once Pixar left they would take Disney to town.

They did this so they wouldn't lose money. :confused3

I think your right MuNk. Last I checked, Pixar was going to part with Disney.

They were. That Cars movie was either going to be the last with Disney, or the first without. I'm not sure.

I think it was going to be the last. Actually I'm 100% sure.

yeah all of this happened early last week. I don't think they should have done it, but that is probably just me.

I agree. but it is 'easier' to make a sequle with already established characters and a plot. so they are probably going to stick with that for a good while.

It would have cut a huge chunk out of Disney's profits if they didn't.

Pixar has been around for 20 years, it has been with Disney for 19 of those years. Pixar shopped around for new distributors, but couldn't find any that would work right with them. The best choice was for Pixar to work things out with Disney, and since Eisner would be gone this would help things tremendously. Now the Walt Disney Company owns the powerhouse of animation, has Steve Jobs on the board of directors. And has John Lasseter working with not only animation, but also Imagineering.

Wasn't it Eisner who burned bridges with Pixar? I think it was him who wanted to get rid of animation completely for a while..
