My son is allergic to eggs, wheat, soy and nuts. We are thinking about heading to Disney in March, but I worried about having to take all his meals with us into the parks. We would be eating counter service for the majority of our meals.

Any advice on dealing with allergies in the parks??

My son is allergic to dairy, peanut, tree nut and egg white.

He went for his 3rd time in August. That trip we only ate at chef mickeys and WCC the rest was CS and the kiosks around the world. Sure there were some things he couldn't have but we didn't have a problem finding food.

We also do our own breakfast in the room. It saves us time and money. I a thinking more and more that is saves us time more then money"...

Anyways, I bring pop tarts, cereal, bagels and bowls and spoons and cups too. We have the fridge. This last trip I asked for a microwave and the kids had oatmeal.

I will say downtown disney was a little harder to find food. We made a pit stop on our drive home last April. And we were going to eat at this hamburger place and they had no buns he could have, not even the Udis. But we found he could do e pizza at Wolfgang pucks minus the cheese.

You should ask for the manager at the counter service restaurant. They will go over the menu with you and have a separate meal prepared if needed. If you have any adrs you should note the allergies on your reservation and remind them when you check in. The chef will come and talk to you and prepare you a special meal if needsd

E-mail specialdiets@wdw.com to get a list of counter serve locations that are able to make him food.

WDW is excellent for children/adults with allergies.

Thank you!! Soy is the hardest, because it is in so many things. I will send an email and make sure to talk to the manager at each place. :)

WDW is the easiest vacation you can take with an allergy child. They know thier stuff. DS only has nuts, but was still dealing with his resolving egg allergy last trip so you have a few more things to deal with than we did. In general, Disney Owned places are safer than non disney, but we had great success at RFC too. As someone mentioned, let them know about the allergy first thing. At TS a chief has always came to our table, but at CS, you might have to ask some places. Some places and chiefs will go to more effort to create something special for your child, but all will do whatever to keep him safe. Our DS eats a lot of vanilla ice cream for dessert as they have a safe for him brand most everywhere. When DS was little I always carried some sort of dessert/treat as that is most often where issues arise for him. Most CS meals, we either skipped dessert for us, or took it to go and got him one of the Popsicle from the carts that was safe for him.

Coral Reef is the only one that I never got to see the chef. All other places the chef came out and talked with us.

I'm not sure if it was the server that had a problem with getting the chef or the chef wouldn't come. Made it difficult to chose food from the menu when I had no idea if it was safe. I was lucky in that my niece was lactose intolerant. Now that I have been to WDW many times and know the way it's suppose to go, I would get a manager at the restaurant and make sure the food was safe if that happened again.

At most CS locations there is an empty area at the counter (where they actually hand you your food). Just walk up there and wait and someone will ask you what you need and ask for the allergy binder. Then they usually grab the chef and he will go through the binder with you to find something safe. If not they will at least hand you the binder to flip through. Saves you having to wait in the ordering line and ordering the rest of the families food and then waiting for the child with the allergies food to be made.
