Disney and dying.

right but if you read what I wrote there were two laws in conflict with each other one about the speed limit and one about driving with traffic and not driving too slow on the parkway, so its a catch 22. I could have stopped a police officer I suppose or just thrown my arms up and pulled off the road, but not very viable options.
I was quoting your husband or does he also have a US mom and UK dad? He was the one who made it personal by attacking me and my attitude based on my inability to agree with his position on a law.

I didnt see it as an attack but as an observation on the thread you have posted on.
I pressed the button before I was able to add the info i wanted which stated we are going to be living in the US from early next yr due to our forces posting! so I doubt he will get kicked out the country and I really doubt if I wanted him to do it (which ive never stated that I did ) he would go about it Illegally he is MUCH MUCH more clever then that!

Actually I have a very can do attitude I just apply to stuff that matters. Like the 2 1/2 year old in my care that three months ago couldn't walk and now is jumping because I spend hours a day working on it with her. Or my own 2 1/2 year old who has her own gross motor issues and developmental delays that just scored superior on her latest battery of testing due to my work with her. Illegally spreading the remains of a dead relative at a theme park not something I would spend time thinking about.

I did notice you were from the UK, if I was traveling in another country (as I have multiple times) and I was told something was illegal, I would be sure not to do it. People have been deported for lesser offenses and then you would probably not be able to come visit whomever you were scattering.

But don't you understand? Pee and her hubby should get to do what they want. :rolleyes1

Nevermind what is right, he is after all Royal Air force.

For anyone logical who would like to know Disney's OFFICAL answer-it is they do not allow ashes to be dumped at the parks/resorts. (Disney has even resorted to hepa filter vacumns to clean up the mess made by those who try. Nothing says "eternity" like spending the afterlife in an hepa filter:rotfl:)

Sadly I know Disney policy this first hand, they do not even make exceptions for MAW.

Perhaps you should understand that just because someone does not agree with you-that is not an attack. It is difference of opinion.

Posting information you know first hand is also not an attack.

I had read the same thing about the hepa filter vacuums.

I completly agree when its on difference of opinion's and
Actually you decided to take it a little furthur by saying PEE! and just because my Dh is forces he thinks he can do what he likes!!

You quote us and yet i see many other on here openly state that they will go and spread their ashes My dh hasnt actually said he is going to has he??
he has just given his opinion on the matter!

Little harsh, don't you think? ALMOST a personal attack on two people stating their own opinions on a matter.

I also love how you have decided which laws should and shouldn't be enforced. As for my breaking the law, well my foster parent license depends on me not breaking the law. So other than driving five miles over the speed limit, which is itself debateable because there is another law about not driving too slow on the parkway, I am clean.

That speed law seems to be state wide. At least I know it is here in Colorado. Also, speeding is speeding and it's illegal. Some people are just better at not getting caught it seems...so while your driving record may be clean, your conscious can't be clean because you know going 5 miles over the speed limit is actually illegal. Likewise, if you're driving too slow, you are impeding traffic...it's a matter of getting pulled over and ticketed for it that dirties your record.

Have I sped before? You betcha. Have I gotten caught for it? Yes I have. Luckily, it was my first time ever being pulled over, I was able to tell the cop why he pulled me over, and had all of my paperwork ready to hand to the cop. Plus, the cop was super nice. I watched in my rear view mirror as the cop punched in all my info, and walked back to my car, fully expecting a hefty ticket on top of my paperwork (as I sped through a school zone). But, the cop let me go. Ever since then, I watch my speed like a hawk on side streets, and go with the flow of traffic on highways.

ETA: I think the solution in all of this is to figure out a way to make our lost loved ones into bubbles. :)

As for everyone else, I have joked many times about having my ashes spread on the ground beside the view from my favorite resort. I know it won't happen, not even sure how they would get my ashes through security at the airport....doesn't matter.

It is allowable to transport cremated remains on airplanes (but do check with the carrier). I have a little jar of my grandma's in my house to always remind me. I carried it in my check in suitcase from Michigan to Colorado but you can take it through carry-on as well. Here is the TSA's official information:

http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/specialneeds/editorial_1296.shtm

You can scatter ashes on your private land or with permission on land that is not yours. Disney's policy is their policy. It does not have to do with a biohazard. Human ashes are not a biohazard. There is also no evidence that it hurts the environment. Any non-human remains that may be in the ashes possibly could pose an issue if not removed before cremation - such as pace-makers.

Our family believes in cremation and unfortunately, I've dealt with a lot of different scenarios on how this can be done - legally, thoughtfully, and personally.

OP - I understand your original question and thoughts. I personally though believe the spreading of the ashes (or putting them in urns) is for the living to mourn and for them to feel a bit of peace. So your loved ones may sprinkle your ashes somewhere that was special to you in order for them to have some closure. And for some people, Disney is that special place - so I understand the thoughts behind your post.

well my family have absolutely no interest in spreading our ashes at Disney and they wouldn't ask someone to knowingly violate the law to spread ashes. They're dead. Honestly, where their remains are really doesn't matter.

My brother in law just passed away and my mother in law picked out the ugliest darn container and then annouced that when she died she wanted to be on my mantle (and I'd get my brother in law as well). Its been a harsh week with him passing, but I know one thing - I do not want my in laws on my mantle - especially in those darn ugly urns she picked out. I told my husband "they are going under rose bushes in the backyard" and he said "yep, they just don't need to know."

A friend tells the story that her mother in law's urn was on her coffee table. At some time the sealed urn had been opened so some ash could be spread - but the majority of ash was in the urn....when her kids came careening through the living room and - oops. Grandma is now resting in the vaccuum cleaner bag.

Disney does clean the attractions. So the ash disposed of in attractions (or around the parks in general), in addition to being against Disney policy, is pretty likely to end up in a vaccuum bag - or the equivalent. You can save your survivors the step, and just have your ashes tossed in the trash to start with.

Havent seen many people hoovering up the flower beds :rotfl: so NOT everybody need have their ashes tossed in the trash as you put it!

I'm still trying to figure out how this is different from his attack on my character because I disagree with his opinion.

But they do replant those beds more than four times a year and the gardeners are in those beds every day. And the old bedding and plants get tossed. Not that I'd do anything against policy, but if you HAD to have your ash at WDW, I'd get rid of it at a resort, not in the parks, and in a small quantity and in "nature" not groomed beds. A cremation creates about four to six pounds of ash. That's a lot of ash to dump in a flower bed and not have the gardeners discover it and hoover it up.

Well before I stayed home with my dd I ran a free legal clinic attached to a law school. One of our clients was a college student on a visa. He was caught drinking underage at a frat party. Ice didn't like that and hauled him before immigration judge and he was deported. Well they allowed him to
Voluntarily leave but if he didn't they would deport him. So yeah stupid stuff gets you deported which is why you should pay attention to laws in countries you visit even if you are raf.

A little off topic but my parents had their dog cremated about 9 yrs ago. They keep his ashes in a urn in their bedroom. My kids always ask when we go over for a visit if I want to go see Duffer.:confused3 My mother wants him to be burried with her when she dies.

I bet Tom Sawyer island would make a good place. They don't clean or replant all of the island very often.
I am still not getting cremated!

Lol....you're in a bit of denial. Those little swimmers diapers are basically to keep the poop from floating to the surface. Its in the pool but you might be the out of sight out of mind kind of person. Most kids pee in the pool and most people don't shower before they go in the pool. That's a lot of sweaty buttcracks!!! Oh and I love the occasional floating band-aid. Yummy!

:lmao:
