hi :wave2: well my dbf has decided that he does not want to go Disney and that I should take my daughter with my sister who will be 17. I am wondering has anyone taken children to Disney by them self..
I don't drive so I will stay onsite at Disney than transfer to a hotel at US (AKL and HRH) will I be OK doing this?

Will virgin arrange transfers between hotels?

I have never been to Orlando before..my sister is going this September so she should be slightly familiar...also is there any way to get to sea world from WDW or US?

I am taking DD with my sister to DLP however it is not really the same thing..DLP is very contained and small.
I really want to take my daughter so any tips will be fantastic :)

You sholud be ok, a few years back I had to take my kids by myself due to a sudden incident, and they were 5&7.

If staying on site at WDW you can get to every Disney park by their transport. There are mears transfers, (cost) to most other Olando parks such as Seaworld, by Taxis are an laternative.

Virgin can transfer you to /from the hotel and iarport, and i think you can buy a package of coach transfer tickets for mears in advcance from them.

The issue is the coaches only depart at certain times and maybe certain days, some of these are used for Disney cruise lines on Sat,Sun and Thursday so thoose days have less availability.

Universal has connect's again by transfers and seaworld and wrt and wild are not that far away down international drive, there is a tolly bus going down international drive for a low cost serving the resturants there.

On site Universal is very compact you can walk anywhere within Universal from HRH but water taxis operate as well between the hotels the two parks and the central hub.

You would be able to get a transfer between WDW and USO people do it all the time, the easy way with luggage would be a taxi or town car, there are services such as this advertised on this site, look under DCL, or other disney sites, you might wish to book in advance

An alternative to taxis/mears is to use Lynx buses-I went alone last year and used them to get to seaworld-I think it was about $1.50 each way and its fun riding buses in strange palces. I've enclosed a link to Lynx website

i think they also do a bus from TTC to Universla but can't swear to it-but if you post the question on the transport page, someone can confirm for you.
Good luck, and I hope you have a wonderful time.

I think you will have a fantastic girly holiday without him!

If you want to transfer between hotels or leave Disney then Mears are the way to go, the reception of the hotel will book a taxi for you.

You can get to Seaworld from Disney by getting a Disney bus to the ticket and transportation centre and there will be other buses from there to Seaworld. Or Virgin do packages to loads of places.

In WDW you feel so safe and there are always loads of staff around to help with any problems or queries so I would not worry about taking your daughter.

Staying on site makes travelling alone / with young children so easy - you won't have any transport worries at WDW or USF when visiting their parks :sunny:

How have you booked your trip? Is it a package with Virgin, or have you got Virgin flights and booked the hotels yourself? If it's a package, you should be able to arrange transfers to / from the airport through Virgin but, if you've booked independently, you'll need to arrange your own transfers - either a shuttle or towncar would be easy to arrange.

A taxi would be the easiest way of transferring from WDW to USF. There are shuttles who can take you from either WDW or USF to Seaworld - USF is closer, so I'd suggest doing it from there to save a bit of cash ;)

hi :wave2: Thank you for your extremely useful replies. I have not booked anything yet however I am thinking a Virgin Holiday package is the way to go!

Just wanted to give you some more support and say that you can do it! :teeth: I'm taking my two (5 and 7) without DH in October. I will have my grandfather there but hes not really the disciplinarian type if you know what I mean ;) I feel its such a safe environment with easy to use transport that we'll be fine. Go for it :thumbsup2

Hi

You will be fine. I took Casey on my own in 2004 she was 4 and she loved it. We really bonded for that week. We only did Disney, but this wasnt because of transportation only a personal choice. We stayed at ASMo. I would definately do it again.

As people have mentioned Mears is picks you up from your hotel. Have a look at thier website for times and prices.

Good luck
