If I'm taking a 2 month old to Disney, do they need a car seat for the flight down? We'll be renting a car so we definitely need one once we arrive, so then if we don't need one on the flight, do we check the car seat like it's luggage or does it need to be packed into a suitcase? What about the stroller?

Suddenly I'm realizing there are a bunch of logistics involved here that I know nothing about! If anyone wanted to post what they usually do in the airport with small children, it'd be really helpful to me! Thanks so much :D

Is the baby flying as a lap baby? If so, I believe that you can gate check the car seat. I have heard that sometimes if there is any empty seat on your flight, they might let you use it for the baby's carseat.

If you have purchased a ticket for the baby, you can use the carseat on the plane.

You can definitely gate check the stroller. That way, you can use it until right before you board the plane and it will be waiting for you once you get off the plane.

You do not need the carseat for the plane so you should check it. If you take it on with you and it takes up a seat, you have to pay for the seat. Are you going to want to use the stroller at the airport or will you carry the baby? We always took the stroller and checked it at the gate. You just need to let the airline employee checking you in that you want to do that. Then you leave it right before you board the plane and it will be waiting for you when you get off.

If for some reason the carseat is misplaced, the airline will have one available for your use free of charge.

Make sure to have a pacifier and/or bottle to help with the pressure that will build up in the baby's ears.

Thanks guys!! Really appreciate the advice :D This baby stuff seems so overwhelming right now :)

We just went to Disney in December with our 6 month old and we will be going back down there in two weeks. We took both the stroller and the car seat and had them both checked right at the gate just before boarding the plane. We also went up to the desk before boarding the plane and asked to get moved to a row with an empty seat (we did not pay for a seat for the baby), which the Air Tran was able to do for us at no cost. It might be worth a shot if you don't think the flight is going to be too crowded, and you want the extra room for baby's toys, bags, etc.
