Disney Afternoon Characters

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted here, but it's nice to be back.

After a four year absence (quite possibly the longest in my life) I'll finally be back to WDW in September to celebrate my... sigh... 30th birthday.

Since the whole trip is really centered around making me feel still young while saying goodbye to my 20s I've become overwhelmed by the desire to see some of the characters I grew up watching on the Disney Afternoon, like from Ducktales or Darkwing Duck.

Do any of those guys still make appearances in the parks? I knew my little little brother got to see Max from the Goof Troop not too long ago, but I'm not sure under what circumstances.

I kinda hoping that with the classic NES Ducktales game getting remade this summer that maybe they'll see fit to bring out Scrooge McDuck or Launchpad. It would definitely make my trip complete as I try to ease the pain of turning 30.

The only time I have heard of any one seeing the old characters was during a specific limited time magic week. Good luck and have a great time!

Max can be found during training opportunities at Epcot or during Characterpalooza at DHS. It is difficult at this time to know exactly when or where Characterpalooza occurs, but generally it will happen in mid- to late-afternoon at either Streets of America or Echo Lake. Even if you do run across one of these opportunities, it is likely Max will not be among them--but he can appear.

Have you gotten the Darkwing DVD's? So much better than you would ever have expected after all these years.

I might die of happiness if Darkwing, Launchpad, Talespin gang, etc. was still in the parks! I second the PP on the Darkwing DVDs are fantastic, so is Talespin Really wish these guys would be around regularly instead of a shot in the dark chance during a LLF week

Ludwig Von Drake was out for Long Lost Friends Week at WDW, along with Scrooge McDuck.

Yes, Baloo and King Louie appear in Animal Kingdom, but not in costume.

I'd be right there with you with Ludwig Von Drake.

As a "practitioner of the psychological arts" Ludwig Von Drake is kind of a patron saint on mine. My office is decorated with an LvD pin stuck into my corkboard and a Vinylmation steampunk version of him.

While he's not Disney Afternoon, he's still high on my list of "oh I hope so, but probably not."
