Disney Adventure Planning Thread

Originally we had two rooms, one Ocean Verandah and one Imagination Garden across the hall from each other, but we actually decided to change it yesterday to Concierge. I was a little worried about getting to see everything and since we will probably not be going back anytime soon so we decided to splurge.

Thank you for getting this thread started. We will be doing 6 weeks in Southeast Asia and Japan, and this was an ad on for us since we will happen to be in Singapore for two more cruises. Because of that, we are also doing a Deluxe inside on deck 9--because we wanted a real bed, and the split bathrooms are nice too. We're doing a 4 night cruise, so hope there is enough time to see everything. I will be looking forwards to reports of people who sail before us. We sail on February 5th.

Interesting looking at the deck plans. They remind me more of the Royal Caribbean ships. When we first booked, there was only a layout of the staterooms. We chose deck 9 to make sure there were cabins only above and below us. Now I see that there is even a restaurant on of deck! And the fitness center is sort of above us! And there is a separate fitness center for concierge.

Looking forwards to more information on the restaurants. It sounds like there will be two separate dining rotations of 3 restaurants each. There are several other restaurants on board. Will they be included or an extra charge? And will there be an included restaurant for Platinum and above? I think our PIF date in the end of October, so not sure what we will be able to book in advance. Still, very excited!

Wow! We haven’t looked closely since they released the new deck plans but it sounds like we should. Really hope there’s no major surprises above our stateroom!

I will try to remember to email the concierge and ask about (a) when we will get more info about what we can book in advance and (b) what perks (if any) will be offered to Plt (which is also our status) onboard.—not at my home computer today but return home tonight.

Joining in this thread... I don't have a cruise booked yet, but am planning to book one at some point given that I live in Singapore! Not been on a cruise before so this will probably be my first one!

(I'm also happy to answer questions about Singapore!)

So it turns out I ended up booking a balcony instead of a garden room, decided to change it, but unlike every other DCL booking (except my member cruise), I’m not able to look to see what other rooms are available and make changes in the app. Figured it was worth mentioning in case it’s helpful to anyone else to know.

Received our welcome concierge letter for our January cruise. Can't wait to start watching this ship leave Germany and head towards Singapore. So many unknown things about this cruise which makes it very exciting! I wonder if the shops will be open all the time as there are no ports. 24 hours shopping would be kind of fun. We will be seriously jet lagged coming from the USA.

Was anything new or different in the Concierge letter?

I didn't book a Concierge cabin but I did book an inside deluxe: 9975. Im a bit nervous at where its located now that details on the deck plans are added but im sticking with it

With the next batch of cruises being announced hopefully soon, we are going to use our placeholder to book for next fall. I spent some time looking at deck plans and we will most likely go for a Deluxe Inside as well. I am kind of wondering where we want to be… looks like nearly all are forward with the exception of deck 9, but the midship ones are underneath the garden area and I could imagine that that place gets crowded when there are shows. Not sure I want crowds trampling above my stateroom.

I am also wondering if we want to be on an outside hallway opposite the veranda staterooms or in that middle hallway surrounded by other inside staterooms.

Hopefully we get the new dates this week!

I'm looking forward to getting more details about what activities are included and which will be an additional cost (e.g. the Baymax activities, the three rides on the top deck, etc) and how they will manage the crowds / lines for those activities.

The Concierge team replied to let me know that Platinum guests will be entitled to a free dinner at Palo Trattoria—but with such a short cruise (and our kids wanting to do M&S Flavors of Asia), I don’t think we can spare more than one night out of the MDR…

They suggested I won’t get more information about schedules until after check-in in the app, but I thought this was the kind of thing you can typically find out from Concierge before the booking window opens…. I’m not sure where the Concierge is based and if they are new or if there is a language barrier (or both) but they didn’t actually provide any information specific to Adventure about what can be booked in advance and/or when we would get more information.

Uggghhh…. I would have thought you would have been told all of the things you can book ahead of time.

No, it was very generic. Just a welcome letter and they will be in touch as the sailing date nears. We cruise in January. What we want are reserved seating at the shows - but they probably don’t do that ahead of time, private table for dining. Plus any potential meet and greets with characters. I am hoping they have Duffy and friends available.

We want to do the Mike & Sully one, too. Teppanyaki on a cruise is my husband‘s dream come true. It’s a shame that the Platinum benefit isn’t available there.

I looked at the restaurant description. Animators Palette and Table are like the pre-Wish ships with Animation Magic. We aren’t fans of that show, so don’t mind missing it. Enchanted Summer (both Rapunzel and Frozen Parts) State that they would be open for breakfast and lunch as well. So, I think on a 4-night we would be able to skip two nights in MDR and don’t feel like we missed a lot.

If we can even get a reservation! I don’t expect masses of Pearl cruisers on these cruises (except the maiden voyage), so Platinum should have a good chance at getting specialty dining. But who knows how much will go to Concierge. Looks like loads of Concierge cabins!

My kids love TeppanEdo at Epcot, so I expect they will be over the moon for teppanyaki on the cruise, but I was hoping to dine at whatever venue looks most like Harry Hausens (sic). My kids also LOVE Animation Magic so that will be a must do for us... Pascal and Olaf are my two favorite Disney characters, so I would like to experience both of those rooms, but maybe you are right that we could do them during lunch... I think the dining rooms that seem to feature Mickey & Minnie would be most skippable for us-- but I'd love to know the menu options before making a final decision... I'm hoping the Adventure will get more international options in the MDRs, but it appears that they are making a lot of more exotic (for Americans anyway) cuisine available in the casual dining venues.
