Just had to take these photos to show you from a little stash I completely forgot about and just found in the loft! No-one I know will be interested in them :(

These are going back to June 1988 when we went to Florida for our honeymoon. The package we booked was for 5 nights in Miami & 7 on a Caribbean cruise. DH suggested we tagged on an extra 3 nights to make a trip to Disneyworld - I hadn't even heard of it but thought 'ok'. My how times have changed!

The front of the 3-Day Worldpassport which covered Magic Kingdom and EPCOT Center (when was Center dropped????)

The back of the Worldpassport - $78.00 sales tax included

The Guide Book

Wish I could get good photos of the inside of it but don't think you'd see much. Lots of the rides have disappeared or changed names. I'd completely forgotten that there used to be a Skyway from outside Space Mountain one-way to Fantasyland.

There's a list in the back of the leaflet detailing what would be opening later in 1988 and in 1989 -

Disney-MGM Studios - Spring 1989
Caribbean Beach Resort - Fall 1988
Pleasure Island - early 1989
Typhoon Lagoon - early 1989
Grand Floridian Beach Resort - August 1988

Mickey's Bithdayland in the Magic Kingdom - what is now called Toontown

Birthdayland opened to celebrate Mickey's 60th birthday party.

On the back of this leaflet there's details of a cruise from Magic Kingdom to Discovery Island to see 'tropical foliage, exotic birds and rare wildlife' $7.50 per adult and $4.00 per child. So whatever happened to Discovery Island??

A one day ticket to River Country was $11.75/adult and $9.25 per adult.

Some other things that I found unrelated to Disney but made me smile :) our boarding passses for the Virgin flight - rows 10 going and 12 coming home. These weren't PE then! I remember it just being 'open'.

Also found details of luggage allowance -

'.....a per person luggage allowance of two medium sized suitcases....restricted in size....allowed one piece at 62 inches long and the second at 55 inches.'

No limit of weight! So what do you think??? Less for our money now??

Hope you enjoyed my little bits of old Disney :)

Lovely photos :thumbsup2 it's great to have souvenirs of WDW from years ago. I have a brochure from 1986 when I visited the Magic Kingdom for the day, I'll have to dig it out and take a photo

Thanks for sharing

Mandy :)

Lovely photos, thanks for sharing them with us.

Very interesting :goodvibes

we loved Mickey's birthday land...
"happy birthday,
it's mickey's birthday,
happy happy birthday to you"

we even still sing it on occasion...

we liked it much better than the show that replaced it (which itself was eventually replaced by toon town)...

i just happened upon some old old old tickets of ours....
remember the A,B,C,D,E tickets? i found some A's, B's and C's....talk about a blast from the past...

looking at your passport - i forgot they used to stamp them that way....how funny....

Thanks for sharing
I still have our stuff from our first visit in 97

Thanks for sharing... :thumbsup2

fab, I love looking at the older style things.

We went over to Discovery Island for a break from the mad crowds in MK and really enjoyed the peace there. Shame they closed it.

Thanks for sharing:wizard:
