Disney’s Armed Forces Salute Has Been Extended

FYI, I just called Camp Pendleton and tried to order the Armed Forces Salute tickets for my trip beginning October 11, and they couldn't sell them to me because they don't have official notification from Disney about the extension. She said to call back in a week or two and hopefully I would be able to order tickets then.

I'm curious how this typically works, if anyone knows. We're starting to plan a trip with our kids, who are both active duty, in 2016. My wife and I were active duty, but did not retire, so we don't expect a discount. My parents are also going, so we'll have two rooms. The kids will be staying in our room.

I know we're speculating that the offer will be available then, but I'm curious. Let's say we book the vacation as a regular vacation in the next few months, then down the road, before we go, they do this same offer again. Would discounts on our rooms apply? If so, would applying the discounts require cancelling the existing reservations, then rebooking? Also, if the kids want to buy the discount tickets, does anyone know if it's possible to have 4 in a room and only 2 of you have regular tickets (with the kids having their discounts)?

I wouldn't be surprised if that is an issue across the board. I called my local ITT they day the news came out and they had no clue (but it could have also been the person too since she wasn't very helpful) But I was going to wait a little bit and give it some time. DH and I are going in Dec so we have a little time.

The lady I talked to was knowledgeable about the extension and seemed to know what she was talking about, just didn't want to sell me tickets that still say they expire October 3. She said they would hopefully get the official word from disney soon. She was very helpful.

I think you would have to cancel and rebook, and you'll need to call to do it anyway.

As to the tickets, since both kids are active, they can each get 6 tickets to use, so no one needs to have regular tickets. They can get tickets for you.

I didn't have to cancel; but I did have to make a change because when I called she couldn't find any availability for the discount at the resort I had booked (All-Star Music) so I had to switch to Movies.

I had wanted to try another All-Star as we have stayed at Movies on 3 of our trips so far and at Pop for the other; but oh well. Guess I'll just request a different section. Got a preferred room now instead of a standard; but it's better to have a preferred at ASMo because all but 2 sections of the resort are designated as preferred rooms. And the price still dropped. I have the same reservation number and my deposit stayed on. She just gave me a new balance after the discount was applied.

Based on the post above I guess I have to give it some time before calling Camp Pendleton.

my dad is long retired but he still can get the tickets. he can get at least 4 - i'm a little surprised that the max is as high as 6.

With a military ID, active duty, retired, disabled veterans and spouses (and widows and widowers who have not remarried) can purchase them and has to be the one there to activate them. I think the rule is just that whoever is going to use them along with them has to be there when that happens as well.

I'm able to purchase them and use the resort discount as an unmarried widow.

Their children are active duty. Each AD child would be eligible for 6 tickets. Those 6 tickets can be used by anyone, as long as 1 of the 6 is for the AD member.

Everyone who is eligible for the armed forces salute tickets is eligible for 6 tickets.

That is correct. The previous poster's children are active duty. So while the poster may be a veteran who did not retire, their active duty children can each purchase 6 tickets and the previous poster may use those tickets as long as the AD child is with them.

Basically, a mil ID is required to buy and activate the tickets, but they can be used by any friends or family of the AD member as long as the AD member is present at activation.

Has anyone purchase tickets for the post October 3 period yet?

I should be able to purchase the tickets already on hand at my local MWR and have them work for November right?

I'm concerned I'll make the trip to the base and the leisure travel center won't know about the extension. I suppose I should just call the LT center directly.
