I have the free dining plan and was wondering which restaurants are not included? I looked up Cinderellas Royal table and see that payment is required so I assume there are restaurants that are not included with this dining plan. Any help is appreciated.

It's on the dining plan it just requires a deposit. If you book it and then use your dining credits to pay it will be refunded. You may be able to call and get a reservation with your dining plan without paying but I'm not sure.

I booked cry and didn't pay a deposit because I have the dining plan and therefore its included. I had 2 call 2 do it. It also depends on which dining plan u have

If you are less than 180 days out it doesn't really matter(if you're more than 180 days out, online is better because you can start making them an hour earlier because the online system opens at 6 EST and the call center opens at 7 EST), the online reservations system can be slow at times, but so can calling so really it's up to you what you prefer.

Other than Victoria & Alberts at GF, pretty much every single restaurant in the parks and resorts are included with the Disney dining plan. Some restaurants and dinner shows require pre payment if you are NOT on the DDP. Some restaurants, such as CRT, require 2 credits on the plan. Some of the popular restaurants and character meals will require a credit card hold, whether you are on the DDP or not - meaning they will charge you $10 per person for no shows.

There is a sticky thread on the 2013 dining plan that has a link to Disney's brochure, which lists every restaurant that is included in the dining plan. Make sure you look at all the categories, since the character meals, dinner shows and signature restaurants are all listed separately.

Using a free dining plan is absolutely no different from using a paid dining plan. The restaurants can't tell the difference between a free plan and a paid plan. It's all the same to them.
