What month are you guys thinking of??? I'm planning on being there in May 2012. I missed this years meet but I want to catch at least one

Oh, I see we are moving into the MMM! I'll have to make time this week to add my side of this. The right side of course.

Just been busy with my little swimmer. Ally made swim team this year and she has been doing great! Two meets so far and she's got 3 first place ribbons! She has been nicknamed "The Bullet" by the other parents for her freestyle! Seriously, she's all of 40 lbs and FAST!!!! Last night she beat all the other kids by nearly 1/2 a lap - honestly!!!

Ladies:

Your TR continues to be so entertaining. I had to catch up on the last two weeks, but now I see we are getting to the good part .... the PARTY!

I love the pics from the Safari. I could definately see myself doing that! My last two rides on the Safari have been the back seat. I could barely take any pics - my camera was like a flying missle.

Cammie - I can definately relate to the "backside" pictures. My DH does that ALL the time. Whenever I am walking in front of him and I sense that camera coming out, I pull a few avoidance maneuvers to avoid the "backside" shots. I swear he does it on purpose!

Kara, congratulate Ally on her swimming prowess!! She looks so cute with her ribbon!! Can't wait for more ladies!!

Oh...ok...I know who Flat Winkers is!! She's very funny! Flat or not!! So is there a date for this?

I believe mid to late June ! His cousin WendyO has schoolage kids so I think that played a factor in the timing !! I am sure this thing will develop a life of its own long before 2012 !!:rotfl2:

Fantastic report ladies!

Can't wait to see how many HmcH pictures show up in TR's over the next while. :rotfl:

So we last left off on the monorail, heading to Epcot.

In my book, The Unofficial Guide to Kara, there is no better way to get to Epcot than taking the monorail...... I feel like it's my own personal carriage to the greatest park in Disney.

As we soar over Future World, I like to look down on the peeps below and give them the wave. You know, the princess wave. Then I toss my hair and laugh daintily. And wave some more. Look up next time you're there and you might see me!

See that guy down there? He's waving back at me!!!!!!

Epcotfrommonorail6.jpg

We finally disembarked from our carriage, and made our way through bag check and into the gates of paradise! Especially during the Flower and Garden Festival. I think Epcot is just beautiful!!!

FORE!!!!! Call me crazy, but I always get this insane desire to play 18 holes.... or at least hit the 19th hole. But that happens soon enough!

Flat Ally loves Epcot, too!

Cammie and I were thirsty. As we were most of the trip! But alas, the World Showcase beckons, and it made everything better!

We headed in through Mexico (say May-hee-ko).

This was definitely the hottest day of the trip. Sun high in the sky and temps rising. So the first thing I needed was water. Ithink I downed 3 bottles just in the trip around WS. I also wanted to keep hydrated to make up for the bevvies that were soon to follow.

And since I was still hungry, we stopped in Germany and grabbed a pretzel and a something or other lemonade. Now this ain't your mama's lemonade. And I must say, I like it BETTER than the grey goose slushy in France. Well, for one, it's like 3 times the size for the same price!!!! So refreshing on a hot Florida day! It's made with Kirschwasser, a German cherry brandy..... yum!

EpcotGermanypretzellossburglemonade.jpg

At this point, I think we kicked back in a half shady spot to wait for Ellen and Lonnie. When I say half shady, I mean HALF shady. I think our torsos were kicked back in the shade, but our legs were out. So Cammie and I started scoping out families that might be vacating their prime shade spots.

After awhile we just found a tree by a fence, and plopped our hot selves down on the ground.

Before long, the rest of our foursome showed up and we continued through WS. We stopped in Japan to watch the candy lady....

And that's when we saw the Renfroes!!!!! What a truly wonderful family! Thank you again to Alan for setting up the Mammoth May Meet, and to his family for being so accomodating!

As we made our way toward France to meet up with fellow DISers, we stopped to see Jasmine, my husband's "favorite" princess.....

Although, Jasmine was not too excited about our flat kids. I say she can take her lovely assets and hop on her flying carpet!

It was almost time to hook up with the sea of lime green. But first, we needed refreshments....

Up next, we continue our way around WS AFTER the meet, and make a lengthy stop at Rose & Crown pub.

It was so much fun!!!! We especially liked the "quiet" time spent at R&C afterwards!

Yes, we did meet on here!!!! I had met Cammie briefly for lunch back in November at MK. She was there with her DD and I was with my family, but Cammie and I had gotten to know each other on another thread. Cammie and Ellen met at a rest stop in NJ (I think!) one day. And Ellen and Lonnie are friends from college. In fact, Lonnie kept calling us "the DIS geeks!" :rotfl2:

Good Morning from another "DIS GEEK":rotfl2:
My family thinks I' m nuts to have Internet buddies the way we do !!!:lmao:
Thing is all us "NUTS" totaly get the DISNEY experience :thumbsup2

I think it's time for an update!! But mine is (first) going to be about next year's new DISmom who will be joining us, my friend, Joan, aka Dismomwannabe (at least that's what she told me her name is, but let's see if this post brings her out of lurkerdom!). Although I do know she won't see this for a while, because right now she is driving to Iowa to visit her family, and according to her there are no signs of the 21st century on the ranch where her parents live.:rotfl: Anyway....

Last Wednesday Joan and I went into the city to see Mary Poppins on Broadway! Because I joined the Uber DISgeek club, D23, I was able to get the MOST amazing seats (5th row orchestra, dead center!) and afterwards go backstage!! We were VERY excited!!!:yay::yay: So we took the train in from Fanwood, and were in Penn Station in no time. Just as we got there, it started to rain. What a surprise!!! It's only been raining everyday for about a month! :sad2: That's ok- Joan had her umbrella with her anyway because she really wanted to do THIS in Times Square as we were approaching the Mary Billboard-

2009_062406summer0001.jpg

Seriously! She was relentless! She kept making me take the picture over and OVER! She could NOT be stopped!

2009_062406summer0003.jpg

At this point, I was beginning to believe she was having a Poppins identity problem, but whatever.....

We had dinner reservations at DB Bistro Moderne, Daniel Boulud's easier on the budget, less fancy (although VERY swanky!) restaurant in the theatre district. They are famous for having a $32, UBER-over-the-top-burger, with foie gras and short ribs IN the burger. I was very excited to try it. Joan, on the other hand, was there for her usual chug-a-lug fest, which she DEMANDED begin immediately from the bread boy!

2009_062406summer0004.jpg

With every gulp, she would chant, "Over the lips and past the gums, look out stomach, here it comes!" It was really causing quite a scene. The servers encouraged her to try some food, so she relented and went for the $45 prix- fixe pre-theatre menu, which included 3 courses. They gave us a lovely bread basket and an amuse bouche of tapenade and eggplant spread with crostini. Then our appetizers, Joan's was asparagus soup-

2009_062406summer0005.jpg

and I ordered Oliviers Alsatian Tarte Flambee with Fromage Blanc, Bacon & Onions. Here is half of it-

2009_062406summer0006.jpg

2009_062406summer0007.jpg

Then the burger- Original db Burger- Sirloin filled with braised short rib and foie gras served on a parmesan bun with Pommes Frites.

2009_062406summer0008.jpg

O. M. G. This was remarkable. The burger was really light, and I kept dunking my fries in this EXTREMELY hot mustard they put on the table (wish i would have remembered to ask what the mustard was at the end of the meal, but i was so distracted by Joan, what with all the belching and table-dancing!)- I barely finished the burger, it was ENOURMOUS and left most of the fries. Very hard to go to this restaurant and not fill-up on the bread they brought out first, because it was so delicious (and there was pretzel bread in the basket, and we ALL know how we feel about pretzel bread)!:hyper:

In between slammin' back a few dozen, :drinking1 Joan was able to eat some of her paella, which I had to try and was also scrumptious. We were both awfully full, but Joan's dinner came with dessert, which we shared. It was a chocolate tart with a chocolate chip ice cream, and an orange foam that tasted like a creamsicle. Yummmmmmm.... also some small candies- Sorry it's half eaten!

2009_062406summer0009.jpg

It was a great meal, can't wait to go back! I dragged Joan away from the bar, and we were in perfect time to get to the New Amsterdam Theatre, only a few blocks away-

Cont'd next post-

We went down front to our seats :thumbsup2 and I took a few pics before the show began- the theatre was GORGEOUS. Disney had bought this theatre years ago and redone it for the Lion King, originally it was a movie theatre.
You could tell you were in a "Disney" place- people everywhere were snapping photos before the show began. I can tell you, I have been to MANY broadway shows because we live so close to NYC, and I have NEVER seen people taking pictures like this!! SOOOOO Uber DISGeek!! So, while we waited for the curtain to go up, Joan passed the time singing her usual, "100 bottles of beer on the wall" pirate: and I took these-

The curtain- the best i could do, as we were sooooooo close!

Mary Poppins was incredible. We spent alot of time trying to figure out how they did all the special effects, but we figured they would fill us in on the special backstage "experience" after the show. And the two kids were astounding! Especially when they did the Supercalafragalisticexpialidocious dancing- WOW!!! And they only had to stop the show once or twice to ask me to wake up my snoring companion (yes, DISmoms, next year WILL require earplugs for snoozing not just because of Kara, but for Joan as well!) which I thought was pretty good, all things considered! After the show ended, we waited in our seats until they came to get us to go backstage. First we were taking a group shot (which I'm guessing will be in the magazine or online at some point) with Mary & Bert, and they were nice enough to take all of our cameras, and take photos! I tried to help Joan out with hers (after all those drinks she was a little clumsy) but forgot to turn on the flash, so it's blurry! I'm so sad!!!:sad1:

2009_062406summer0018.jpg

Joan and I are on the left near Bert. Then we handed them our programs (again, Joan was fumbling for hers, good thing I was there to help out!) and they both signed- really fast. We told Mary how talented she was, and she (almost shyly) quietly said Thank-you.

2009_062406summer0019.jpg

Mary & Bert said good-bye, and then we were told a few facts about the theatre by the (i guess you might call him a) CM. Then he asked if we had any questions. Of course, everyone wanted to know how they did the special effects- like the bed popping up out of no where, or the coat rack coming out of Mary's bag...and I am here to tell you what they were willing to tell us... "It's Disney magic!":headache: Here are a few more pics I took on our way out- the view from the stage-

2009_062406summer0020.jpg

Onstage with the set-

2009_062406summer0022.jpg

Siggies on the wall from all the celebrities who have seen the show. I remember seeing Donny Osmond and Dr. Ruth. I don't think they came to the show together-

2009_062406summer0023.jpg

And lastly, Mary's bag-

2009_062406summer0024.jpg

They gave each of us a copy of the MP DVD and we left via the backstage door, where our fans and papparazzi were waiting and took our pic!:rotfl: Really! It was a great night, which I will never forget, and which Joan actually remembers parts of!:thumbsup2

Ok, Dismomwannabe... hope you can find a computer in that cornfield at your parent's house and post YOUR rebuttle....umm, version of our little adventure. Although I can't imagine WHAT you'd like to refute!;):rotfl2::rotfl2:

Oh, I think Joan and I are going to get along JUST FINE! :thumbsup2

I'll be posting my installment this afternoon.

Kara! I just realized I never posted how AMAZING the "BULLET" is!!! :woohoo::woohoo: She is awesome!!! And swimming is SUCH a wonderful sport, works your whole body everytime. Keep us posted on how she does the rest of the summer!:thumbsup2

Sounds like a wonderful evening! I saw Mary Poppins in London two years ago and thought it was wonderful! It was a very talented cast there as well! But we did not have such a fantastic dinner beforehand! :goodvibes

"Our" Mary was Scarlett Strallen who played Mary on the London stage in 2005 & 2007- maybe we saw the same one!:goodvibes

And wasn't it AMAZING when Bert tap danced on the ceiling and up the walls???? :worship::worship::scared1:

Wait a minute.... Joan DRINKS???? Alcohol? Oh, I'm shocked!!!! I can't imagine you putting up with that!!! :rotfl2:

Although, if you saw Bert dancing on the walls and ceiling, I'm kinda wondering how much YOU drank at dinner!!!!
