Yeah - I wanna go and stay at the D/L hotel. Of course, it'd be more fun to go with a girl of the female persuasion, 'cause that opens up all sorts of romantic dinner possibilities (like at the Grand Californian, for example, followed by fireworks). And most of my favorite romantic restaurants are still around in Newport Beach.

I gotta get busy - I've only got a few months to plant a relationship and watch it grow!

If we make a "Group D/L trip", is anyone available to go after 21 Nov. and before Thanksgiving? According to the Podcast, that's when the changeover for Small World (to "Small World Holiday") and HM (to "Nightmare before Christmas") will be finished and open. The crowds will also be smaller.

I assume you mean for 2009? Which if it is that's a thought.

Hi folks!

I hope you don't mind my jumping in to your thread. I'm another local Disney-ite. I hail from mostly tranquil Howard County and tend to travel the world with my dad. (We lost my mom a few years ago and promised her we'd have adventures for her.) You'd love him. He's 76 y.o., a geeky scientist, and goes down to Disney's barber shop twice a year just to get a mohawk haircut. We've nicknamed him Grandpa Mohawk.

I am his faithful sidekick/personal assistant/travel agent/live-in nag/frequent kidnapper/part time teenager wannabe. I'm also the self designated Auntie Mame to my sibs 9 children. And in my other life I'm a web designer and writer who just happens to use wheels for transport.

I read about your DISmeet before but unfortunately I was so wrapped up in planning summer at the beach with and for my family I kept forgetting to post. My next endeavor is planning a Grand Gathering for them next summer. All 17 of them. Meanwhile my dad and I will be doing Disney again this Fall for 3 weeks (gotta visit Adventurer's Club before it shuts down), NYE and another two weeks next Spring. We are fanatics about the place.

I hope you have another DISmeet in the area or I may bump into some of you down there. You all sound like you're having fun with it. Either way I just wanted to say hi.

BroganMc. Glad to have you with us. My dad will be turning 80 this Summer and his birthday present from us girls are to take him to Disney in December for the first time. Yes that's right, he's never been to Disney. I can't wait to see his face.

Thanks for the welcome. Cool that you're taking your dad in December. It's a great time to go. We've been twice, including NYE. A few tips I learned in the care and proper feeding of 70+ yo dads in Disney: 1) rent him a scooter/ECV (even if he's stubborn as a mule and says he can walk 20 miles up hill in snow, he'll thank you for it after the first parade he sat comfortably and not on the curb); 2) bring a jacket (December in Orlando gets unexpectedly chilly and old men feel drafts everywhere); 3) have snacks on hand (my dad prefers cheese crackers and absolutely needs something to make the "grumpies" go away fast).

That sounds like my dad. You know our dad's could be related, especially because of the stubbornness and cheese crackers
