And guess who's finally packing....MIKE!! (My clothes are all packed, and some hair stuff, got most of my toiletries ready on the bathroom counter to go in the bag...just need to finish last minute things, make-up, and the rest of the carry-on. )

I feel better now that he's actually packing. Except he yelled at me when I tried to help, and all I was doing was trying to inform him that some of his undershirts were in the dryer. Men!

Well thank you very much, Trentmom!!!

My moving van just arrived on Wed afternoon so I am busy unpacking... BUT I jump on the DIS to get away from all that...so I would love to meet everyone!!

DH and I just moved here from Boston. We are 15 minutes from DISNEYLAND and yet I have not had a chance to get there yet!! We have done Downtown Disney but not the Parks.

How is everyone doing today and what are your weekend plans???

DH is a railroad design engineer and CA called him and asked him to come here to the OC (Orange County) and head the expansion of the Metrolink throughout the OC. With the gas prices so high and all these cars on the road .... CA wanted more trains....so we are here, for now!!!

We own an engineering business in MA which our oldest DS heads up and runs. I spend a good portion of my day telecommuting with the Boston office --> KAR !!! I am up very very early due to the time difference so I can work with the MA offices!!

So with both DS' just graduated, class of '08 ....DS#1 Chris (25), M.A. in Russian and European History and DS#2 Mike (22), B.A. in Art History ...DH & I felt this was a good time to travel. Chris is engaged and will be married in June 2009 and Mike is here with us. He landed a fabulous job with an Art Restoration Company.

How exciting for those off to WDW!! Will leger13(Carla), Tat2disneymom(Nikki) and Cherbear all plan to meet up while they are there??

What a great weekend you will have with your family!!! My 3 sisters and I took my Mom for her 80th birthday to Lancaster, PA last October for one full week of touring. Mom has always wanted to see Amish Country and Brandywine and Chadds Ford!!! We loved it there and esp in the Fall!!!

Hi Kar! Welcome to DISland! Sorry we are not what you expected, but if it counts for anything we ARE a TON OF FUN!!

To answer your question, yes, me (I'm Cheri by the way ), Nikki, and Carla all plan on meeting up at WDW. This will be our second time meeting...last year we all went in September and met each other for the first time. They are both awesome people and I'm blessed to know them.
I am looking forward to hanging out with Nikki more this time because I only got to see her briefly last year. Carla and I (and our husbands) spent EMH's at MGM together...and then the EMH at Epcot and then some, the following morning.

Anyway, I'm rambling now. I mainly just wanted to welcome you here!

And BTW, if you hear us talking about "taxes"...it's not what you think it is.

Thank you!! That is where I'd like to evacuate too. Then I could go to Disney land and then all i'd have to worry about is earthquakes!!! I'll never forget my first visit to Ca. My GreatAunts house was overcrowded with collectibles and we hadn't been there an hour when a quake struck and things were rattiling and she was pushing things this way and that. Somehow she had a system to keep too much from breaking. Some things did break and I remember being scared and she NEVER stopped talking through the entire thing. There she was on the floor hands over her head.
" I'm so glad you guys came! You guys are going to have such a wonderfull time. I still love the South but Ca is a wonderfull state and oh yeah we are going to go to ..... house tonight and then we'll show ya'll our church and the innercity church and....etc........" (My Great Uncle was a Pastor there. First time I had to go through a FORTRESS of BarbedWire and Fences to get to church!!! )
Anyway....I really did like it there and wouldn't mind going again and....you know I still have some relatives there and my not really but we've always claimed to be cousin just moved there to Pastor a church hmmmmm.... I'm on my way!!!!!

It's supposed to hit Sat a.m. But yes we are in the Hurricane circle! What is crazy is they are not evacuating all of Galveston!! It's too late to get them all off so they are saying Shelter in Place!! They are expecting storm surges of at least 8 feet and Shelter In Place!!! You better believe if I lived there my bootie would be GONE!!!

OB is probably gone again! Traffic is already getting REALLY heavy!
DH is in Dialysis and I'm staying home to get ready to go. i'm sending the boys to school so I can get more done and then hopefully we can leave by noon. There is already a gas shortage and overcrowding on the highways. There is like a nervous panicky feeling everywhere. They really aren't telling us much of anything. You can see on the tracker where it's going to hit yet they aren't evacuating anymore. They waited too late.
They evacuated so many for Gustav because of overreacting due to being scared because of Rita that they waited too late. I would rather be evacutated a gazillion times than be stuck that once and disaster happens. If it wasn't for DHs dialysis we would be gone!!!

when Rita hit we were in it. I was very blessed my apartment at the time had damage but was liveable. so many weren't that blessed! Now here comes Ike toward Galveston and we are just going to sit here????
You know how the school closed for Gustov on the BEAUTIFULL day?? Well all the school districts are closed all around us BUT NOt us!!! i guess they would be EMBARRASSED!!!
I'm trying to find back streets so w won't be stuck on the Hwy. We usually go 59 to I10 to Ms. what would usually be an 8 hour drive to my inlaws house would probably be a 20 or more by the time we get to leave so we are taking alternative routes!! I know I'm rambling so I'll get off. I am getting nervous. I don't have the pet carrier. It's at my Moms so I think if I can't get it before I leave we will just have to use Braetons Build a Bear one!!! I'll make use of that money yet!!!
I don't know what to do about Tylers poor fish. Put a bunch of food in there and pray over it I guess. I just hate to starve anything to death. Unless it would be a snake. I HATE Snakes and Rats and Mice!!!!
O.k. my nervous self is showing so I'll be leaving you now.

Hi LeeLee, I'm sorry you are still there or were still there, you may be gone by now. Don't worry about the fish, dump extra food in there and also it's good to not feed them for a few days here and there as they eat all the food that dropped to the bottom of the tank, it helps clean it out. As long as you aren't gone too long the fish should survive fine! Yes you can starve to death a mouse or rat, or snake, I'm all for that. ...I was watching the news a bit at lunch and it looks like it is supposed to hit tomorrow. Parts of Louisiana are flooded, again, as it heads through the Gulf heading towards you....Be careful in all that traffic, take a few extra gas gans and strap them to your roof, a lot of people did that during Gustav, fill them up before you go so you have extra gas should you need it. God will this storm season ever end? I sure hope so. Well you know you are in my prayers and if you can get on line somewhere, leave us all a msg so we know you are okay! Stay safe, and hugs to you all!

My mom called and my Dad is going to bring me the pet carrier!!! Now I just MIGHT get to Ok in one piece!!!

Around midnight last night I realized that I hadn't switched the clothes in the washer, so I went to do that. The house was dark. DH was still on the computer but the boys were in the other end of the house asleep. I switched the clothes and headed back thru the LR to my bedroom when...............................

SOMEBODY GRABBED MY ARM!!! I jerked away and they clawed my arms with thier sharp fingernails. As I screamed and slung my arm a tiny furry body went hurtling through the air to land on its 4 paws and LUNGE at me again!!!!

i get back in the bedroom heart pounding, adrenaline racing, muttering"smart cat huh??? Well guess who just got herself LEFT to meet IKE!!!!"

OMG LeeLee, that was some story, I just about choked on my iced tea, it wasn't funny when it happened to you I am sure but it sure made me burst out laughing. Well I hope that cat can swim and likes Ike!
