Dishwasher woes

Several months ago there was a thread in this forum about adding something to your dishwasher to keep it clean and the dishes cleaner. I didn't need the advice then. I do now. Does anyone remember what it was that members suggested be added to the dishwasher? Thanks.

It may have been vinegar. I am now using that in place of Jet Dry and I think the vinegar works even better. I just pour the vinegar in the compartment where the Jet Dry would go. It is a lot cheaper, too!

I use the tabs that have the jetdry in them and my dishes have never been cleaner. The vinegar worked but not as well.

I started a thread about dishwashers months ago....i use Lemon Shine. It works great. I get it at Target or Walmart.

It's actually called Lemi Shine. I buy it 2 at a time because Walmart is usually out when I go in to get it. Jet Dry doesn't cut it for me. This is the only thing that works. Some people have said to use a package of lemon Kool-aide, but I haven't tried that.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that every once in awhile we take the drain at the bottom apart and clean it out. You would not believe how gross it gets, even when you think you are rinsing properly. It can make a big difference.We usually use the shop vac.

I use LemiShine. I buy it at Target and buy a large box of Cascade and then mix them together. I keep the mixed products in a biscuit barrel on the counter and scoop out what I need.

When we had a dishwasher repairman at the house several years ago he said that dishwashing detergent should not be kept under the sink where it can get damp and lose it's power. And he recommended blending the two products together. He said to use Glass Magic, and we used that for years, but it got harder and harder to find. And so we auditioned other products and LemiShine worked just as well, is cheaper and is easier to find.
