at least his teammates voted for him not to be the captain....geez, and yes - I realize no conviction, but I stake my life there is truth there.....

His suspension is a joke. Maybe one game - not four.
I agree. I think 4 games is a joke for someone who was cleared of all charges by the police.

All I care about is what he does on the field.
nfl has a code of conduct, guess they care about off the field.
I absolutely care about what a player does off the field-character matters.
Which only recently has been enforced under Goodell. The previous commissioners didn't care and I wish they would go back to that. The commish has no business making judgements on the personal lives of players.
If someone gets convicted of an actual crime in court, like Vick, then take action.
Yeah and he is back playing like nothing happened.
He is a disgrace to the city.
but my point was it is hardly comparable to what Rothlesberger(sp) did or as far as the law is concerned didn't do.
I think it is crazy they suspended him at all.
It was probably strongly suggested to the team not to vote him captain or to him not to accept it if they did. IMO
Wow. I couldn't disagree with the last posters any more. Even the local chief of police in Georgia knew he was guilty...it just was that it would be a "he said/she said" and they didn't think they could get a conviction. I absolutely care about what a player does off the field-character matters. We have thrown away any "#7" merchandise we had, and will never buy any again. He is a disgrace to the city.
He openly has said in media conferences here in Pittsburgh that he needed to continue to get his life together and focus on his family, his morals that his family has taught him, his football career and his teammates.
I don't have exact quotes but it seemed like he didn't want the added responsibility of Captain, plus he won't be able to even have contact with his teammates for 4 weeks.
That's good to hear. I'm not in Pitts. anymore so I don't hear everything but I'm glad he is trying. He hasn't taken his career how would you say it seriously before and I hope he does now. I thought after the motorcycle thing he might have been more careful but..... So I hope he does now.
