Outside of a criminal conviction, I don't care what he does in personal life. All I care about is what he does on the field.

Wow. I couldn't disagree with the last posters any more. Even the local chief of police in Georgia knew he was guilty...it just was that it would be a "he said/she said" and they didn't think they could get a conviction. I absolutely care about what a player does off the field-character matters. We have thrown away any "#7" merchandise we had, and will never buy any again. He is a disgrace to the city.

Which only recently has been enforced under Goodell. The previous commissioners didn't care and I wish they would go back to that. The commish has no business making judgements on the personal lives of players.

If someone gets convicted of an actual crime in court, like Vick, then take action.

Not to me. I turn on the tv to be entertained, could care less what the player is doing off the field unless he is breaking the law. And it's the same thing for any type of celebrity (singer/actor/model, etc.)

In your opinion! I agree with the other posters and feel that a 4 game suspension is ridiculous! The dog killer spent time in jail and got less, so did the drug dealer , the murderer(who got nothing) and a couple others recently who got nothing also.

I completely agree that if a player is convicted of something , then punish him accordingly. But the punishments aren't even consistent. I remember of 3 NFL players since Ben's incident who were caught with drugs, any news , any suspensions? nope!

I think it is crazy they suspended him at all.

It was probably strongly suggested to the team not to vote him captain or to him not to accept it if they did. IMO

I don't have exact quotes but it seemed like he didn't want the added responsibility of Captain, plus he won't be able to even have contact with his teammates for 4 weeks.

I am not AT ALL defending Ben but at what point do these girls have to take some accountability? They knew exactly who they were with from the very beginning. If he did what he is accused of he should be punished but as long as girls continue to throw themselves at pro players (see Cobe Bryant) these problems are going to exist .

He actually has been a model NFL player. He has talked to the media extensively (never did prior to the Georgia incident) before, during and after training camp. First time I heard an interview, he was so sweet, I almost gagged. LOL My son and I were watching, and I said to him, wow, it looks like Ben and talks like Ben, but that can't be Ben. My son just said, mom cut it out. All his interviews have been like the one I seen. Whole new Ben.

I didn't make it to St. Vincent this year but some of my friends took their kids and they said he posed for many pictures with the kids and adults, plus signed anything people put in front of him. Definetly a 180 in that regard.

We'll be in WDW in a couple weeks all sporting our number 7 jerseys. Husband, myself, son and daughter.
