DISers unite! MAMMOTH MAY MEET Epcot on May 17, 2009!

Hi JohnEric! You can purchase a t-shirt online at the store I set up. The link is www.cafepress.com/dismaymeet. They are more expensive there, but the quality is very nice.

Also, the Grand Marnier Slushie can be purchase at a small stand in the France Pavilion. You can't miss it...it is right in the main walkway. Here is a picture of the stand:

and here is my DW enjoying a Citron Slushie and me with the Grand Marnier Slushie. YUM!!!

Fantastic! I've ordered a shirt; it should be here in about a week or so. (Actually, over the weekend I went to the Disney outlet store in Orlando and picked up a few shirts, including a lime green Disney 2008 shirt, but when I saw that I could get the official shirt, of course I had to get it!) And thanks for the pic, now I should be able to recognize at least two people (just in case the bright green glow isn't enough of a giveaway)...

This will be my first time staying at Boardwalk, but from what I understand, it's walking distance from Epcot. So, just in case I have a few too many slushies (not that that would ever happen, mind you), I should be able to stumble my way back to my room. Or to Jellyrolls, whichever I find first. :)

I've been to Epcot many times, but never noticed the slushie options in France... thanks for bringing this to my attention! I was getting a bit tired of the Margaritas in Mexico and the Sake in Japan anyway... always nice to have more options... And I'm guessing that Impressions de France is even more spectacular after a Tasty Adult Beverage...

I'm really looking forward to this weekend! It looks like this is a really great group of people, and I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!!! :goodvibes

Oh yes we must see pictures!

About the dessert party. For a sales person to call you back you have to be staying on-site. Which I'm not. You don't have to be on-site to participate. Just to arrange. Sorry guys. If anyone on-site wants to get the info the number to call is 407-828-3200. If not we can just all grab a drink and a dessert and pick a spot.

I'll be staying on-site; may I be of assistance? I don't think I was following the whole dessert party thread, so if you could give me a bit more info, I'd greatly appreciate it!

illuminations dessert party is one hour (maybe a little over) function at Epcot that gives you a private great view of illuninations while eating sweets and hanging out with your friends. The places it is held and the number to contact to arrange is within the last couple of pages. It's a lot of work to take on in a very short period of time. Please don't feel like you have to go look into it. It was short when I was looking into it. If you want to run with it from here let me know and I can pm you the info I have.

Hmmm... looks like the minimum venue charge would be $275, plus $22 per person for the desserts, with 20 persons minimum (assuming it's the same as the wedding rates, and I suspect that you are correct, it probably is). If that's the case, I'm a little leery of setting that up... I believe we can each purchase quite a bit of dessert with $35 or so... :)

Did I read that correctly?

Must be a great viewing area!:lmao:

Good Morning !!
John Ericyou are really getting into our Crazy Gang!!Looking forward to meeting you too!!
Alan you can't stay away this long ...some people just keep making plans for you while you are gone !!:rolleyes1:lmao:
I do have my Tiara !!:rotfl2: and earrings :rotfl2: Do ya think we will be able to recognize each other !! I won't be :rotfl2:wearing THONGS !!:lmao:

JohnEric - Yes you read it correctly.

CK - It is primo but expensive.

Rosie - I think we'll be in people's pictures that don't know us and we'll find ourselves on some website that makes fun of goofy things people do. :lmao:

Well, that being the case, I'd rather spend my $35 on additional Tasty Adult Beverages. My theory is, the more slushies which one consumes, the better the view becomes anyway. Not only are the fireworks better, but the surrounding people become far more interesting and also attractive. :thumbsup2

Anyway, the views from Epcot are all pretty good; especially from the top of Japan, or Mexico, both of which would be free. As wonderful as the separate dessert event would be, I think I would like to pass on this one.

If people would still like to go, though, I'd be happy to coordinate if needed.

JohnEric I think it's probably too close at this point to plan it anyway. Thanks though.

Anyone else that will have people on scooters or in wheelchairs? I'm happy to meet up again to watch illuminations but my mom will have a scooter. We usually watch from wheelchair viewing at the start of world showcase. It's a good spot and there is lots of regular viewing right beside it between the 2 gift shops. I'm open to suggestions though.

eta: oh I forgot to add. Since Alan has been gone another couple of days I think he needs to wear lime green flip flops to go with the tiara, thong earrings, and tutu. :thumbsup2

I too am open to suggestions !! While I don't drink alcohol , may have said it is good that I don't a I am quite cuckoo enuff without it !!:lmao:The last time I went with the family we watched from near a gift shop too and it was a good view ! :thumbsup2Does anyone else have ressies at Teppon Edo that evening !!????? Mne are for 6:15 which will give me plenty of time to make Illuminations !!:cool1:

Just found out that I will be dining at California Grill that evening anyway, so I may not be available for IllumiNations.

I think the wheelchair spot there is one of the best; my stepfather always used a scooter, and I appreciate how Disney does their best to accommodate people with special needs.

As far as Alan's clothing requirements are concerned, I think I will withhold judgement on that matter until I meet him. :)

It is one of the best spots and you're right they are at the top accomodating special needs. My mom doesn't like to have to use the scooter but she always says it's ok at Disney. Nobody makes her feel disabled.

As far as Alan's clothing I think it's been a girl thing in deciding what it will be. :lmao: Not like it's really going to happen anyway but we are having a blast with him in the meantime so feel free to put in your 2 cents.

Just ordered 3 buttons for the others in my group that I wasn't sure would be there until now. They will wear them or I'll threaten them with the thong. I'm thinking they'll be ok with the button. :thumbsup2

What do you mean not like it's going to happen anyway?? I was counting on Alan in full dress-up mode!!!:rotfl:

Well ok then. :lmao: Since it's really happening what else can we cook up for him? :thumbsup2

I'm thinking he should put on a little show- he IS in a band, after all. Maybe sing a little song? "I'm a Little Teacup" comes to mind....:rolleyes1:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Now I have a picture in my head of all of us doing the hokey pokey. :lmao:
