DISers Room Rate Codes

Looking at the Ladys trip and their success in being able to negotiate a group rate, I was wondering why don't we as a group approach some of the popular hotels that get a lot of mention on this board and negotiate a DISers rate. We would get a promo code that we can enter into the hotels websites to get the special rate.

I was thinking we should approach BWPPI, Tropicanna, Carousel, Camelot, HoJos, Park Vue and CCI. I have some experience in negotiating room rates ($69pn for Carousel in July last year) and have email addresses of the some of the managers, I am sure others also have contacts.

I wonder how the DIS board moderators feel about this, their may be some problems with some of their advertisers (especially wholesalers and agents). As a group of regular DL visitors we shouldn't under-estimate our combined buying power......

I'd be interested to see how that ends up working out for you guys.

I have a feeling the hotels within close proximity already have no problems booking out their places, so they may or may not be so inclined to give a group rate. . . but I could be wrong.

I'd be interested in giving group rates, but our distance from the park makes us a non-favorite with DISboards

Oh, and not to mention I have a feeling you're correct in the problems this would pose with the advertisers.

I'm all for cutting out the "middle man," AKA agents, and passing on the savings directly to customers. . . but agents, whether they be real people or websites like Expedia and Travelocity, are extremely beneficial to regular people who don't have all the time in the world to compare 50 hotels.
