DISers in Oregon???

I'm here in beautiful Corvallis (home of the Oregon State University Beavers!). I'm originally from Chicago, but moved here a couple of months ago and love it!!! :thumbsup2

Another Disney fanatic family here from Eugene. Counting down our trip for Aug.2-9th.

We're in Sublimity (yes, really), SE of Salem. Our last trip to DL was over 10 years ago, but we'll be there in June

I live right over the border from Oregon. About 25min N. of Portland in Ridgefield.:cool1:

Another Washigonian across the river in Vancouver!

Hey -- there's getting to be quite a few of us now. :goodvibes

First post!

I'm in Beaverton!

We are headed down to DL May 11th....we can hardly stand the wait! :woohoo:

Daisy2, I grew up in Forest Grove! Did you go to FGHS?

Just had to stop in and start posting!

~Stacy

I live in the desert-of-a-town The Dalles but miss my native home of Hood River!

Aw, come on, The Dalles isn't THAT bad. Just think, if we still lived in HR, the only place you could go shopping would be Wal-Mart!:scared1:

Hello,
I live in California now but I use to live in Forest Grove Oregon for 30 years. I would love to come back and live in Oregon again.

I'm another Lisa from Oregon, McMinnville to be specific (about 35 miles SW of Portland). I was so happy to have a nice day finally. My DD thought it was nice enough to play in the sprinkler but I had to say no. LOL

Hillsboro Oregon here:wave:

mmm, three of my fave places in OR. Of course, we haven't done much exploring there, what with being so mesmerized by the whole mcmenamins thing in those towns (we were married at Cornelius Pass Roadhouse, stayed that night at Grand Lodge, etc). :upsidedow

Alright, this is great! I was also wondering about all the fellow oregonions! I am from just outside of Eugene, Or. LOVE the weather today....

Another favorite of mine, b/c it reminds me of the best of Tacoma, and old family friends moved there from San Francisco something like 20 years ago, and so it's like visiting home when I manage to get there!

I just got back from taking the kids out to Cape Lookout to play at the beach....

Tell, me, can you say that normally, or do you have to yell "look out!" when you say it? We went camping there (yurt camping) when DS was about 1.5, and besides the heavy spider population (:scared: ) it was beautiful and wonderful and lovely.

I'll tell my DH you like it - he works there! :thumbsup2

Ask him what "kosher gelatin" is. They won't answer my emails asking them, and I want to know! :)

DH kept chickening out of uprooting us (and dealing with his mother's wrath), otherwise we'd live in the Portland area. Tell me, are the property taxes there so high they obliterate the benefit of no sales tax?

Oh well jeez-- I just typed this whole long thing and it didn't take--here goes again. Sorry if it eventually does appear and there's 2 posts similiar. I'm in Eugene, just went up to Portland for a mini vacation, thought I'd post some details about my trip if anyone else here wanted to take advantage...Rode the train up with my son Friday since he was out of school- was a great trip and with the Portland big deal was buy one get one free- total cost of $21 for us ;-) Stayed at the waterfront Residence Inn on Priceline for $45, could be had for $42 though as I think I slightly overbid. Love this place--it's the second time we have stayed there we had a bed and a fold out couch, it has a great hot breakfast buffet, big pool and jacuzzi and it is on the streetcar line in fareless square. It is also on the riverwalk and has a Mcormack and Smick's well within walking distance (fantastic happy hour menu) it is a really beautiful walk especially at night. We went to Lloyd Center to the new pirate store (amazing) the Disney character outlet,(I got a Figaro & Sleeping Beauty castle xmas ornaments, some capri pants that were originally cm costumes for $5 and a hitch hiking ghost figure thing(Haunted Mansion) for $5) and I got some crocs at the kiosk very near there. I am impressed with the crocs btw. We went to Multnomah Falls-- very beautiful of course parking was crazy though we had to stalk people walking back to their cars and fight for a space...it was a very nice day. The OMSI dino exhibit was wonderful and they have a great deal right now- you get admission, a planetarium show (which includes amazing space odyssey laser show), and an omnimax show for $21, great deal. Anyway hopefully this post will take-- great to see you guys here ;-) Susan

We have been wanting to ride the train. I will have to look into that. Did you rent a car when you got there :confused3

Glad to meet everyone!

....More specifically, I am in Veneta...A 20 min drive to w. eugene. It's interesting to know theres so much disney lovers around! I saw a car a couple days ago with a mickey head sticker on the back window and a micky head antenna toper too....I was thinkin "Ohh, a disney lover!!" I need to get some stuff for my car!

I love Mc Menamins- haven't stayed at any of the the hotels (I'm a Priceline addict) but I love the theaters. I like the Laurelhurst and Hollywood theaters in Portland too. I also like the Admiral theater in Seattle, the Cinerama is very, very cool!. There's one by the Seattle Center-- uptown theater I think that shows independents, daughter and I drove all the way to Seattle specifically to see Dear Frankie(well,-- we used to take every chance we got before Al Gore made the point we were killing the polar bears with all that driving ;-( Anyway I remember it had great snack bar selections...we've also been to the Varsity theater to see Thank You for Smoking-was a fantastic experience ;-) My all time favorite old theater though that still shows actual movies is The Egyptian in Coosbay. Not much from the outside but my gosh it's guts are beautiful...I also like the old one in Lincoln city, I just like the feel of it and the way the owner comes out and talks to people before showtime ;-)

My wife and I stay at McMenamins Edgefield every year for our anniversary. It's fun to just wander around the grounds and visit all the little pubs (esp. The Little Red Shed :thumbsup2).

What is the pirate store? My DD and I were at Lloyd Center a couple weeks ago but we didn't walk around the whole mall. It's a bit over an hour away so we don't go often but I'm intrigued by the idea of a pirate store. :)

BTW - I really need to try Priceline. It would be fun to take DD to Portland for a weekend of museums and shopping without having to think about driving home at the end.

Love Edgefield. :goodvibes We were going to be married there, but then had to rearrange everything (along with couples counseling and a year postponement of the wedding), and in that span of time they became much more of a wedding factory, and I didn't like that. LOVED CPR's outside area, so had an outside wedding there. PITA for our guests, but I figured if my far-flung family had to travel, so did hubby's WA-based family. :rotfl:

OK that was random. :) I love Edgefield, though.

Just today I looked at Lloyd Center's website, and saw a big huge ad for it.

50sjayne, you've got to try out some of the B&Bs! Kennedy School is crazy, like 100 bucks, but then, they are SMALL, their rooms are LARGE, and they have bathrooms in the guest rooms. At the other properties, it's European style with bathrooms down the hall, and their rooms are less expensive (unless you go to Bend).

They even have one in Centralia, and the train station is pretty much across the street, so it's mega-convenient to take a train trip there to watch a movie, snag a Ruby Ale, and even stay the night. The rooms there and at Grand Lodge start at about $50, which is about what you paid priceline (though you don't get as much as you did!). Grand Lodge has a soaking pool which is lovely, and I think Edgefield does too now for their spa customers.

I could go on and on, I just love the properties and hope to someday thank the brothers for what they created. We live right next to a great old property that is really rundown (used to be an Elks lodge), and it would be PERFECT for a McMenamins. I've heard they have looked at it, but it hasn't worked. Fingers crossed.

I'm so sorry, I always, on any forum, come running into OR threads, b/c I love OR so much. :goodvibes

It looks like they opened just a few days after we were there! I'm not sure we'll get there before our DLR trip but it would be fun to see what accessories I could find for outfits I hope to make for DD and DN.

We are currently in Lebanon. The g/f has lived here for most of her life while I have lived in a bunch of different Oregon towns

Ok, I will weigh in too! I grew up in Oregon - Central Point, got married and moved to Eugene, then moved to Beaverton/Aloha and finally about 10 years ago, moved to Longview, Washington. I still consider myself close enough to be an Oregonian and a Duck!! It's nice to know there are others like me in close proximity! We are headed to the land in May- Can't wait!!!:hippie:
