Wow Magic, what a mom you must be to have a 9-year-old that would say something like that! Just awesome! :goodvibes :goodvibes

Just read this and it fits with what you said, so here goes...another inspiration to keep dreaming...

"Humanity cannot forget its dreamers; it cannot let their ideals fade and die; it lives in them; it knows them in the realities which it shall one day see and know.

Composer, sculptor, painter, poet, prophet, sage, these are the makers of the afterworld, the architects of heaven. The world is beautiful because they have lived; without them, laboring humanity would perish."

~James Allen

That solves the whole thing. Kenny, you are the cause! They probably want to call the Top 10, but they are tied up in the brig!!! I hope they come to their senses and give you your trip so they can pick up the phone!!!

I guess being bound and gagged does make it difficult. Donald told me to keep them that way until he is elected CMO.

That really is another perfect song for this stage in the contest.

I'm not aware of too many things
I know what I know, if you know what I mean.
Do ya?

Part of the tension is that I think many of the semifinalists really want to know if the other semifinalists know something they know. Or... they don't know anything and want to know if others know more.

To quote Donald Rumsfeld (that's scary)
The Unknown
As we know,
There are known knowns.
There are things we know we know.
We also know
There are known unknowns.
That is to say
We know there are some things
We do not know.
But there are also unknown unknowns,
The ones we don't know
We don't know.

Does that sum it up pretty good? Of course he left out the unknown knowns... those things we know, but we forgot that we know.

I went to a church one time and a guy stood to testify about what good things God had done and it sounded a lot like that. Something about knowing with the knowledge of something...I was lost.

I can't believe how many pages of posts get added in one day!

I thought that kids weren't allowed in videos unless they were your own children? I haven't watched it yet, so maybe her face isn't shown. I just wouldn't want a good video rejected because of a technicality.

Regardless, welcome Dana!

Thanks, Justin--and everyone else, for your kind words and warm welcome!! I got nothin' but love for y'all!!

Justin, I grew up on the north side and went to Carnegie Mellon, so I envy your proximity to the Iron City!

And wherever you are Andy, I lived in Orem, UT for 8 years;mad props--way to represent!

Dana, I'm not sure if I expressed my congratulations to you yet. Great video, hope you make the 10 known knowns on March 2

Thanks for posting such a great inspirational quote! I'm putting that one in my journal! Combining the beauty and idealism of the artistic soul with the hard work, determination, and persistance that reality requires is the equation that changes our world. Walt taught us that, right?!?;) Oh, and I truly feel my kids teach and mentor me much more than I them....This parenting thing is quite the trip!:cool1:

I'm thinking that -- as long as you've received the parents' consent -- it's okay. (That rule was likely put in place -- along with the "no music" one -- to avoid later legal complications. If the kids in the video belong to the applicant, then it's even easier... Strangers are obviously a "no-no.") :flower3:

Thanks for the welcome! I hope the video is not rejected on such a technicality! I don't think they would have picked it to be in the semi-finals if there was an issue as to following their rules. Just my thoughts, though.

During my interview, they asked several questions about my video. One question was if I would be able to secure parental permission for the girl in my video to appear in the top 10 if I was so selected. Of course the answer is YES, as Suz and her family have been so supportive!

When I saw that video to begin with, I thought the same thing...maybe they asked him on his interview and got a release for the little girl? Maybe it meant for random kids that were put in a video unwilling?

Good luck to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so excited that this is finally out of the bag. I've been dying to post the link but Dana is very modest! He's our best friend and the girl in the video is my daughter.

Suz

Maybe its like the music thing.. a softer prohibition that we might have thought.

I am more focused on the description of Dana as "modest."

Perhaps he is a member of the "painfully shy alliance" that was predicted 100 pages ago. I'm like NostraDISmus.

We await the coming of Rhoda Dakota!!!! (apologies to the new folks... too much to explain)

Very cool idea! :thumbsup2 I'm in! :goodvibes

I'll try to think of a few and send them your way when I have a little more time! :)

'Ya know: Speaking of the Ladies Tremaine, "A" is for "Anastasia." (And "D" is for "Drizilla." "C" is for "Cinderella".... and "P" is for "Prince Charming." If you get lucky, you might even catch the "Fairy Godmother" [F] during your trip. ;) )

How could I have forgotten Cinderella?!? Also added Prince Charming.

Thanks!

Okay, fleagle, I'm listening!! :listen:

...So, who, then, are the remaining two [from the "painfully shy alliance"]? ;)

Ok... judging from my effort below, this is a bad idea... at least a tough one. But if you can use multiple things for each letter, maybe you could write her a little children's book with a poem for every page....

From Animal Kingdom to Adventureland
A trip puts it All in the palm of your hand
Amazing Attractions, Astro Orbiter, more
Await you Away from your resort's front door
Ariel calls you to Approach and join in
After an Epcot Around the world spin
Gather your Autographs, create some Art
And before you're Aware
You're Asleep with full heart.

Some of those rhymes are a little strained... but hey its a first Attempt.

wow!! It could do a Rebus with that...but only if you create the other 26 poems!!

I think I'll stick to just the letter and 2 or 3 things for it -- I already have to do 28 pages (cover, back plus letters) in 67 days...

Obviously they are even more painfully shy than others. In their culture "modest" is considered bold. We'll only know who they are when they finally emerge on the 20th day of top ten voting to say "if you don't mind, we'd like you to vote for us... once each will be plenty... sorry to bother you."

Side note: Now I'm kicking myself for not riffing on NostraDisMouse for my CMO video. Shoot... that could have been funny... "And they shall call him C.M.O."

Second side note: No offense at all meant Dana and Suz. Modest is a good thing! I'm just riffin' on an old joke!
